Tried to get an appointment for a "painful foot problem" and was given an appointment almost seven weeks after phone call. When I expressed concern, I was told that I would be contacted "...if anything earlier came up". No call. More pain... A week later I called back and complained and was told that Dr. Naylor would see me in another week. By a resentful clerk in his office. Told me I was being "unreasonable" and that my concern was "unacceptable". I am a PAMF patient for 20 years and have come to expect better service than this. Have since scheduled for appointment with another Podiatrist who was happy to see me same day. Pain relieved, problem solved. read more

It's been 4 years since I went to see Dr Naylor and also brought my college aged daughter within the same week. We had very different issues. Mine was injury related. Hers was genetic. He was rushed, dismissive and sexist. He said my injury was likely Irritated because I wear high heels. I told him I very rarely wear high heels (less than once a year on average) and he continued to insist I did because "women do." I wish I would have cancelled my daughters appointment but she had finally agreed to go so I wanted to make it happen. He was absolutely horrible with her. He was impatient, dismissive, made her feel like she was dense (said "I told you to turn your ankle IN" in a very angry voice because she didn't understand what he meant by "in" and he was annoyed). He told us BOTH to go to a store in San Carlos and buy orthotics. The SAME orthotics for totally different issues. He sent us to nothing more than a shoe store. The people at the store were not trained and I got the same product on Amazon for a fraction of the cost. Dr Naylor is Clearly getting kick backs. After this experience I really questioned the entire podiatry profession and it's value. My daughter has been suffering ever since and had decided that podiatrists aren't going to help her. I am writing now because I recently tried again and went to a podiatrist (Adams) from PAMF and he was so amazing I talked my daughter into going. He is kind, thorough, takes time with you to really understand the source of the problem. Night and day. How can PAMF continue to employ this man? Someone had got to review him who has oversight. read more

From the other reviews, Dr. Naylor certainly seems capable of dealing with routine problems and pediatric patients. However, I also have to echo the patients who have raised issues of sexism and ignoring patient information. Much more fatphobic and prone to mansplaining than the average doctor. If you are a woman or have a more complex issue, I would definitely steer clear. read more

My daughter just saw him and he's one of the best doctors I've ever met. Someone else said he has weird manners. That's true -- but in an awesome way. My daughter loved seeing him, i thought he was super smart and funny. And he was truly a talented doctor who really knows his stuff. I had toe surgery done and after all the pain and torture of it my toe just went right back to where it had been before surgery. He took a piece of bone out one toe and instead of it fixing the length I ended up with a floppy toe with a huge scar down the middle of it and the same length of not longer now! Luckily over time my bone grew in and filled the space but of no help of Dr. Naylor. I got my medical records from him and for all my repeated visits to try to fix the same issues it stated absurd things like ankle problem. I saw a colleague of his and was in tears in explaining my traumatic experience and pain and he naturally took his colleagues side and dismissed me. I could not be more disappointed:( read more

I had sprained my ankle so many times that it looked like I would have to give up playing soccer. Last year Dr. Naylor performed surgery to tighten up the ligaments and I was able to play again within six months. A year later and the ankle is still solid. Now my other ankle is bothering me, so I just called to schedule another appointment with him... BTW, it does seem like you have to wait a couple of weeks to get an appointment. I think this is because he alternates between seeing patients in Fremont and Palo Alto. read more

This is just ridiculous! I scheduled an appointment for April 28 and got a call asking to schedule because the doctor is not going to be in the office that day. Then I reschedule for May 12 and then got a call on May 9 saying the doctor cannot see me on that day because of an "Emergency"! And the next available appointment will be on June 2! Being pushed from April 28 to June 2? Don't you think my foot will heal by itself by then???? I wonder what kind of emergency does Dr. Naylor have all the time..... read more

Dr. Naylor is great! I met him about 8 years ago after injuring my toes - broke 1 & dislocated the one next to it. He treated them and me very well. I wore a post-op shoe until every thing healed. A couple of years later while traveling, I injured the same foot - emailed ahead for an appt & was seen the day after I got home. Some torn ligaments + plantar fasciitis. Dr Naylor had me get a particular orthotic insert for lace-up shoes with proper heel support & an elastic "brace" or band for my instep & arch. He later partially removed an ingrown toenail which I couldn't reach while recovering from knee surgery. I really like him. He gives plenty information on how to avoid future injuries, a la the dentist reminding us to floss. He's professional, knowledgeable, and kind. He has a sense of humor, which is nice for a change - some docs are quite stiff & seem afraid to show any personality. Dr. Naylor is like the brainy professor, who knows a lot about many things & encourages his patients to take proper care of their feet, including strong recommendations about proper footwear. read more

Man, are we lucky to have a doctor like Dr. Naylor. Let me tell you about my pleasant experience. Removal of Ingrown Toe Tail: I first went to him having an ingrown toe nail (on both sides of the big toe nail). He explained what had to be done and what were my options. Since the appointment was scheduled for 30 minutes and he didn't know the root cause of the issue, he said that for now he would remove my ingrown toe nail. However, this would only temporarily relieve the problem. Eventually, I would continue to have an ingrown toe nail because of the curvature of my toe(s). He recommended to reschedule an appointment to have a Matricectomy if I wanted this problem to go away. For now, we agreed to proceeded with removing the ingrown town tail. I was terrified going in. I remember asking him "will it hurt" and I really want to know if I could get "knocked out during the procedure." Of course, he said no. He mentioned how some people come in terrified, and at the end of the procedure, people leaving saying, "that is all?" He reassured me the only pain I would feel is the "slight" pinch of the needle to numb my toe. Sweating and nervous, he handed me a pillow and said to squeeze on it. He then sprayed a cold spray and injected me with the local anesthesia. Guess what? I barely felt a thing. I felt the cold spay more than anything else ... and that cold spray felt good. After the injection, that was the most pain (slight pinch) I felt during the procedure. I went home and rested. The rest was a breeze. I just had to follow the recovery directions. First Matricectomy: Six months passed after my ingrown toe nail. This time, we were ready to permanently remove the ingrown toe nail parts (left and right side) of the big toe. I was not that nervous ... a bit I knew what I was to expect. As far as pain, there was only the slight pinch of the local anesthesia needle and cold spray. The rest of the procedure was a breeze. He did perform additional work on my toe but as far as pain and recovery, it was almost the same. As for the recovery, there was a bit more resting since the procedure was more invasive. As long as I took the pain pills as directed, the pain as very minimal (for me). Second Matricectomy: Yes, I went in again for the other big toe and both sides of the nail. At this point, I was happy to go in and see him. I knew there was nothing to worry about. It's Dr. Naylor. He's the best! Conclusion: I recommend Dr. Naylor. He's the best in my book. But hey, what do I know, right? I only had two ingrown toe nails removed followed by two pleasant Matricectomy procedures. There is a reason why he's the best. If you want to know, ask him about his statistics on the Matricectomy procedures he has performed. By the way, thank you Dr. Naylor for making my trip to Hawaii an awesome experience for my feet ... my toes recovered on time. read more

I saw Dr. Naylor in his Redwood City office. I was able to get an appointment within a week, and the appointment actually started within 5-minutes of our appointment time (how rare is that?). The staff was friendly and helpful, and got me checked in and processed all the paperwork within minutes. Dr. Naylor was friendly and efficient, and was able to treat my foot on the same day. Just 24-hours later and things are already much better. If you need a podiatrist, Dr. Naylor is a solid choice. read more

If you want to exhaust all conservative treatment and buy countless orthotics, then sure Dr. Naylor's great. However, if you have anything remotely serious, AVOID. In August of 2015, I was referred to a podiatrist for a suspected foot fracture, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Naylor because 1) he had availability, 2) was in my network, 3) had decent yelp reviews. I saw him three times, and each time he recommended conservative treatment and refused to do an MRI. Each visit was the same: I complained about severe pain and swelling, he told me to stay off my foot (but also said he wanted to get me walking quickly) and prescribed some orthotic insole. His goal was to keep me walking around. Which I'm sure would have been fine, if I didn't have a sesamoid fracture and a chip fracture that was UNDER my toe, not on the side. Dr. Naylor did not take my complaints seriously, but the severe pain I had after the cortisone injection pushed me to seek a second opinion. (FYI cortisone injections increase the chance of a non-union of the sesamoid fracture, so thanks Dr. Naylor...). I saw an orthopedic surgeon who was amazed I hadn't been given an MRI, and, once he obtained the MRI saw both the sesamoid fracture (this was news to me) and the chip fracture. I had my first surgery in December of 2015 to remove the chip fracture. When the sesamoid fracture didn't heal, I had to have another surgery in July of 2016 (less than one month before I left for law school). This whole ordeal could have been avoided if Dr. Naylor was more thorough and took my complaints seriously. Luckily, the podiatrist that did my second surgery was wonderful, and now, less than a year post-op, I'm pain free and back to normal function. So to sum up: if you don't want your complaints taken seriously and want to be misdiagnosed go to Dr. Naylor. If you want medical treatment that meets the CURRENT medical standards, seek care elsewhere. read more

My son broke his toe and a bone in his foot while at a summer camp. It was an emergency situation and he saw us right away (within one day). He is a magnificient and wonderful doctor, bonded with my 13 year old immediately, had a great bedside manner, was patient with answering all of my questions, and did an amazing job on the surgery. He went through each option as he recommended surgery because it was on his growth plate. We discussed option of having the surgery and not having the surgery. My son loved him so much, he asked if he could be his "real" doctor instead of his foot doctor. He has a great sense of humor, very informed, very skilled. I recently went to see Dr. Naylor to take care of an ingrown toe nail. I was VERY nervous to go, as I have had this procedure done before. I have had 2 children, and the previous ingrown removal hurt worse, I swear! Anyways, I told Dr. Naylor of my past experience and holy cow, it was a completly different experience. I've gone to Dr. Naylor occasionally over the years and he is always professional, knowledgeable and effective in his treatment. Just today I had him remove a toe corn with a scalpel and was dreading it, but it turned out to be painless and quick. He is not one of those pill-pushing MDs but will recommend alternative healthcare if he thinks it is called for. Definitely a good guy to go to. read more

I have been to Dr. Naylor for a variety of foot problems: a neuroma, orthotics for forefoot pain, and an ingrown toenail. I have found him to be very effective, efficient, knowledgeable, and kind. When he made my orthotics (two different types), he didn't overpromise - he said it sometimes takes a big of adjustment to get it right, but both times his work was exactly what I needed on the first try. On top of that, he just seems like a really good guy. I've had four other podiatrists over the years in various cities, and Dr. Naylor is the best. I'm writing this now because I went back to his Yelp site today to read reviews of his surgical results and thought it was time to put in a good word, myself. read more

Where do I start? I wish YELP offered a 10 star rating because Dr. Naylor is certainly deserving of at least that. I feel pretty confident that I'm a good judge of character and talent when it comes to knee and ankle Drs. at this point in my life as I've now had two total knee replacements and both ankles and Achilles Tendons operated on. So one might say that I'm nearly bionic now from the waist down. All four procedures were performed by four different surgeons, the reason being is because I'd experienced complications from my first surgery which was a total knee replacement, so I found a different surgeon to do my second knee, which turned out just fine. My first ankle/Achilles Tendon surgery was performed by another surgeon in S.F., which also was fine, however it was not terribly convenient for follow-up appointments since I was living in Redwood City at the time. This is where we get to my recent procedure which was to remove several heel/bone spurs and to have some work done on my Achilles Tendon on the other foot which was preformed by Dr. Naylor. Right out of the gate Dr. Naylor was very up front and matter-of-fact about the procedure and what I could expect. He didn't sugar-coat or downplay anything, which I really appreciated, since I don't like when a Dr. tells you that it'll be a cakewalk and then when it comes around to recovery time and you start second guessing yourself, wondering why you're in so much pain and discomfort, thinking that something must be wrong, it can be very discouraging and a real drag. So just as I've done in the past, following my other procedures, I followed Dr. N's post-op instructions to the letter-of-the-law and am absolutely blown away by how quick and proficient my recovery has been. He truly is a gifted, skillful and talented surgeon. I've never experienced such a smooth recovery before and am extremely grateful to him for all that he's done for me. A few of the other positive experiences I've had with Dr. N include how pleasant and helpful his staff have been, the ease of scheduling follow-up appointments (either in his San Carlos or Palo Alto office), his assistance in working with my insurance co. to ensure that everything I needed would be covered (and if not, at least I would know about it in advance), his accessibility and responsiveness to my written communications to him via PAMF's online account and last but not least, are those exceptional bow ties of his which always put a smile on my face. He's such a friendly, personable and witty guy who truly loves what he does and does it so he can help others. I truly feel blessed to have found Dr. Naylor and consider myself beyond fortunate to have had such an incredibly positive outcome AND recovery. Thanks Doc! read more
