I have had a difficult time with Dr lehnert and my care. I was given false hope and recommendations implying I was way further along my healing path than I was. This caused a delay in my healing due to his encouragement of going back to normal activities. Now after getting a second opinion, I learned at this point I cannot be going back to my typical physical activities, and should have been wearing a proper boot, which Dr. Lehnert failed to mention. I had explicitly Dr. Lehnert if I should wear what I thought was a boot, but turned out to be a post-operative shoe, and he said I didn't need it. Why did he not correct me at that first visit, clarifying that it's not the right boot that is needed. Also why did he not guide me to have more support to immobilize the fracture? Instead he said I would be healed in a couple of weeks fully and should go back to exercising which included weight training, yoga, and dancing. At 2 months I started to resume exercise activities but had a lot of pain. I visited a 2nd time at 2 months. He said another month, again without any suggestions for a supported boot. After almost 4 months I still have pain from a simple stress fracture/hairline fracture. At the second visit, he didn't bother to read my lab results and said I had osteoporosis with horror when I didn't. I could have gotten correct guidance earlier on, and possibly be healed by now. Instead I received harmful guidance that worsened the condition as the bone is moving without any time for it to heal. The lack of professionalism, care or attention to my care was laughable. Also, their billing tried to bill me for an ultrasound which I didn't even have as each visit was only 10 min long with no guidance. I also saw in his medical summary of the visit, a made up ultrasound activity that didn't even happen and that my visit was 50 min long. I do not trust Dr. Lehnert and would not recommend him as he falsified activities that did not happen and was only negligent in his care, but was in fact harmful to my recovery. His guidance caused a delayed healing, and God knows if I kept going to him, I might eventually have to have surgery. Isn't it convenient that he is a foot surgeon? For something as common as a stress/hairline fracture that is not displaced, it's hard to believe that Dr. Lehnert could not have enough basic podiatry skills to provide proper guidance for an uncomplicated foot injury. I am glad most people had good care from him but for some reason, he treated my case extremely negligently. Worst 'doctor' I have ever encountered. While filing a complaint for the medical board of California, I learned that Dr Lehnert has an expired license, and he probably shouldn't be practicing and doing surgeries. I hate to say I'm not surprised since he's a very shady doctor, I would not recommend! read more

Just the best bedside manner very helpful ultra sounded my feet immediately and helped me out, super grateful, super surprised to have staff and doctor so personable. Despite his many positive reviews, I cannot recommend Dr. Lehnert for any surgical procedures. I fell for the fact that he is a "top doctor" in his field, but was left extremely disappointed. Dr. Lehnert played off my pain and convinced me to get surgery. I was in pain, and wanted it to stop. Dr. Lehnert was not truthful in how the surgery would go, especially when it came to post-op. He acted as though it was an easy surgery and I would be walking soon after. He did not mention there would be metal hardware put into my body. He did not mention that foot surgery is a HORRIBLE RECOVERY. He did not mention that I would need at least a year of physical therapy to be walking normally again. My experience at SOAR surgery center was a nightmare. Please read my review of it for more info. I had a horrifying amount of post-op pain. I had to have my cast changed multiple times because of the pain. It was awful. Only after a large amount of pushback, did he finally do an x-ray to see if anything was wrong. Upon seeing the results, he came to the conclusion that the hardware was put in wrong. But wait for it....NO ONE MENTIONED I EVEN HAD HARDWARE PUT INTO MY BODY. He never mentioned this before or after my surgery. I was livid. He then said I had to have the hardware removed. Another surgery. I had already taken three weeks off work because of the recovery and pain. He did not seem to care that I was in pain. He did not seem to think it was out of the ordinary, although I'm now learning that it was. After my second surgery, the pain continued. He quickly pushed me off onto another SOAR doctor. And that was that. He never followed up with me. He never asked if I was getting better. Nothing. Long story short, do your research. Get a second, third, and even fourth option. Ask about post-op recover. Ask about risks. Ask for references. Just because Dr. Lehnert is a "top doctor" doesn't mean he can't make a mistake. He owes me a huge apology, but never will. I will move on. But I don't want what happened to me to happen to others. Also, if you do decide to go with Dr. Lehnert, please request to do the surgery somewhere else. Some surgeons are reluctant to take over other docs problem cases for various reasons, technical and professional. Not Dr. L. , Totally patient oriented. . I went to 3 or 4 foot doctors before dr. Lennert was referred to me by retiring podiaterist as as A problem solver. And he solved my problem to by simply looking at my MRI and sending me for a blood test Which showed that I have arthrytis not infection in my big toe . About a year and a half ago ,Dr.Lehnert perfomed surgery on my right foot for a fairly large bunion where my first toe was starting to cross over my second toe just like my grandmother. I am overweigtht so the bearing on my feet made the healing process lengthy but well worth it. I can now fit into shoes I couldn't before. I still see him on an increasing length of time between visits' basis but he always looks at the xrays that day and shows you the progress. He has a great personality and low key approach. What was amazing was that there was very little pain post-op! I got a bottle of Percocet but hardly used it at all! read more

Dr. Lehnert provides a fantastic experience and sets the bar for what one's expectation should be with a doctor. He performed a joint fusion surgery on my badly broken big toe and affected surrounding area as well. When assessing my toe months before surgery, he was honest from the start about the long-term risks of my injury, how it was affecting my toe/foot in the present moment, and he explained the downside risks about performing surgery and the potential small likelihood of a non-union of the bones. He was honest about both the good parts and the bad parts of my situation and a potential surgery. As for the post-surgery process, he takes the right, steady approach to make sure you don't take any shortcuts so that you can have the best possible chance for a strong recovery. When you see him for check-ups and post-ops, he asks in a very genuine manner how you're feeling and while he is providing professional medical advice, he still comes off as someone who is still compassionate for other people's feelings and ambitions. He'll sprinkle in some humor from time to time and he'll always tell it how it is, and I'd recommend him to anyone who has problems with their feet. Also, he usually does an annual trip to Asia or Africa to help children in need of medical attention in various countries so he's a gentleman who has his heart in the right place. read more

Well I am not into writing reviews but I went to soar Last November 2019 to see Dr. Lehnerd and he said that my foot pain was caused by crushing syndrome, I looked it up and something would have had to have dropped on my foot to cause this I did point out to him a fracture and a neroma (think that is spelt wrong ) and he said that was not the problem yet it turns out that was causing my problems , anyway he was stuck on this and I continued on with him until May when he turned me over to another doctor , who in turn tried to get me in to see another doctor at another facility who finally did tell me what was wrong with my foot , I ended up having surgery , if I had stayed with Dr. Lehnerd I believe I would still be in pain . I would like to thank him for keeping me in pain. Oh I did try and contact the clinic to see if I could maybe stop him from being set in his ways. read more

I absolutely adore Dr. Lehnert at SOAR. I had only going foot problems that got so bad I couldn't walk. This went on for about 2 years. I saw Dr. Lehnert after seeing 2 - 3 other doctors who said they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Dr. Lehnert is extremely calm and easy to work with. He treats you as a peer in your care. He personally examines you at every visit. He is thorough in his explanations. He isn't afraid to say I don't know, or I made a mistake, or I'm sorry (which I find rare for physicians). He promised to get to the bottom of my foot problems and he did. He did a few non-invasive procedures which did not work but helped him isolate the nature of the actual problem. He ended up doing a tarsal tunnel release surgery which is like a carpal tunnel release in the wrist. Basically he made more space for the nerves in the ankle in hopes of reducing the inflammation. The surgery was a resounding success and I can walk with no assistance today. P.S. Another plus for me is that he does volunteer medical work in poorer countries every year in which free medical care is provided to those that can't afford it. read more

Dr. Lehnert is first class, an amazing doctor. He has the best bed side manner and really cares about his patients. I went to see him in October 2012 for an issue with my left foot that I knew needed to be corrected. A previous opinion really scared me. While the procedure of what needed to be done really did not change, he made me feel comfortable in correcting my problem. I had surgery in Dec 2012. While the recovery process did take close to 3 months it is the best thing I have ever done. Dr. Lenhert has really changed my life. I can now walk without issue or pain. My exercise routine no longer bothers me, no more limping to the shower. Thank you Dr. Lenhert for making everything normal again with my foot. read more

I wanted to make sure to give a good word for Dr. Lehnert at SOAR - He performed foot surgery on me last November and my experience with him, his staff and the SOAR surgery center was wonderful. Dr. Lehnert is very straightforward and figured out the problem right away (I had been to two previous doctors...one said stretch my calf muscle, um, ok..."how will that fix my big toe?" and the other offered orthotics, which did nothing but cause pain in my back.) I have been to SOAR many times as a patient of Ken Akizuki's - he referred me to Dr. Lehnert - and I am so thankful he did. The SOAR surgery center (though it looks a little funky from the outside) was beautiful inside - from the moment you walk in the door the personnel were kind, caring and competent people. I went down to see Dr. Lehnert in Redwood City from SF because of a terrible experience with the Northern California Foot & Ankle Center (I would avoid this place like the plague if you're looking for quality treatment and knowledgeable doctors). My primary care physician recommended him as an alternative. I'm so glad I did because he's a phenomenal surgeon and doctor! I came in to have foot surgery after I found out that I had a bone spur in one of my toes. During my first visit I found that Dr. Lehnert has a great bedside manner and a wonderful sense of humor (not that these qualities are indicative of being a good surgeon, but it does make the entire process more pleasant). He patiently & politely answered all of my questions and explained every part of the process to me so that I knew exactly what to expect. Both of my pre-op appointments were informative and pleasant experiences. My surgery was scheduled for an hour, but it only took 15 minutes. My foot healed after six weeks as predicted, and everything went pretty much back to normal after eight weeks. The bone hasn't grown back (something he warned could possibly happen), and I'm back to my normal running routine. Thank you Dr. Lehnert for excellent care! I definitely recommend him if you're looking for a quality surgeon! Side Note: He performs surgeries in Third World countries free of charge as a volunteer. Dr. Bruce Lehnert performed a cheilectomy surgery on my big toe a few days ago. Prior to seeing him to discuss my options - I consulted with 5 different foot surgeons in the last few years, but did not feel like I wanted any one of them to operate on my foot. Until I met Dr. Bruce Lehnert. I trusted him and his advice immediately and I am so happy that I did! The surgery itself was almost like a non-event. I never took any painkillers afterwards, since pain was minor and very tolerable. Five days later - I can move around the house and do pretty much everything except driving. I do not yet have stitches removed and the final outcome of the surgery is not obvious yet - but I am sure it is going to be very successful, judging by Dr. Lehnert's skill and professionalism. He also has a very nice personality and sense of humor, immediately putting you at ease and in a good mood. If I ever need another foot surgery, I would not consider anyone but him, and I can't recommend him highly enough. Achilles tendon repair surgery after a complete rupture. He reorganized his schedule to get me in for surgery ASAP after a holiday weekend at 6am! And all follow-up appointments were exactly on schedule, no sitting endlessly in the waiting room. I was walking without a cast or boot in 7 weeks after surgery. My physical therapist said it was the best surgery and fastest recovery for this surgery she had seen in 30 years (I am of average fitness). And he is just an all around nice guy. read more

Dr. Lehnert is the most amazing doctor I've ever been to. I had got into a car accident in 2011 and messed my foot up really bad. All the doctors I saw prior to him told me that I just sprained it or that it was all in my head. Chronic pain syndrome was thrown around a lot. They told me I'd never dance again. I finally ended up at SOAR with Dr. Lehnert in 2012, and by simply looking at my X-rays, he was able to figure out what was wrong. He called it a trauma bunion. He was straight forward and honest. He gave me all the info I needed to understand and make a decision on what to do moving forward. He was very warm, patient, kind, and understanding. He told me if we did the surgery a certain way, it would take longer to heal, but I'd be able to dance again. He was right. It hurt for about a year, but the pain went away and I went back to dance. Because of him, I'm able to walk again without pain, and I have full range of motion. I'd recommend him above anyone. He's so good I almost wish he was a general doctor I could go to for everything. read more
