I have Ledderhosen Disease also known as Plantar Fibromatosis. Dr Klein is the resident of expert on this condition in the Bay Area and does enzyme injections of Hyaluronidase and Shockwave therapy following the protocol that Dr. Davis from Texas has developed. I found Dr Klein on the Facebook group that Dr. Davis runs. I have seen good results with significant shrinkage and softening of the Fibroma Nodules and they no longer hurt when I walk run or play tennis. The injections are not covered by insurance (I have United Healthcare) and costs roughly $1200 per session of injection since I have both feet injected. And the typical protocol is 3 sessions two weeks apart. So total cost is $3600. If you have Fibromas, I would highly recommend seeing Dr Klein. Another podiatrist basically just put some divets in the very expensive orthotics he made and otherwise said to ignore the fibromas and the Fibromas grew and were more painful. If you have Ledderhosen Disease definitely check out the Facebook group and Dr. Davis even has a book you can get on kindle that goes in detail. Do not get surgery that some podiatrists recommend it will not help since the fibromas grow back. Check out the book and Facebook, there are horror stories about the surgery. Radiation therapy is also an option and is potentially covered by insurance but injections are probably a better first step prior to radiation which can be quite involved. For people in San Francisco, San Jose , Palo Alto with Plantar Fibromatosis good luck and come see Dr. Klein. For me it has been worth the cost. read more

Before seeing Dr. Klein my right foot had become extremely swollen over a period of a couple days - to point where it became almost impossible to walk without enduring massive pain. Mentioning this to my brother, he suggested I see a podiatrist that had helped him many times. I have a general fear of doctors, but he reassured me Dr. Klein knows what he's doing, is funny, and has a confidence-inspiring bedside manner. I have a general fear of doctors, but my brother assured me this one really knows what he's doing. He explained the doctor is a board certified surgeon & foot specialist, has a relaxing beside manner, and is funny to boot. (Yes, I know - lame pun.) Turns out my brother was right. The doctor made me feel extremely comfortable during my first appointment. And yes, he was very funny. He diagnosed my foot, fully explained the situation and without a moment's hesitation recommended a course of action. This gave me a big boost of confidence in him. Furthermore, he assured me within days I'd be back on my feet (sorry) as long as I followed his treatment plan. So I did just that, and true to his word my foot was back to normal that same week. On my follow up appointment, he explained what to do to prevent the same issue from ever happening again. Since seeing Dr. Klein, my foot has remained it's proper size, and best of all, has remained pain-free. This guy ROCKS. read more

I saw Dr. Klein for ingrown toenails which I've had since I was a kid and more recently have toenail fungus as well. I rarely post a Yelp review but feel compelled to since my appointment with Dr.Klein on 6/6/24. I'm 92 and so have had many, many people care for my ingrown toenails these many years. The receptionist and Dr.Klein's assistant were most kind and helpful. Dr. Klein immediately told me that he wanted to do surgery on my ingrown toenails and has done that surgery successfully on many people older than me. That is ELECTIVE surgery and as the patient I elected not to have it. That is definitely my prerogative as the patient. I know that Dr. Klein would receive far more money from Medicare for doing surgery and he could also show his expertise as a surgeon. That's his issue, not mine. Dr. Klein used an instrument on one of my toes for the ingrown toenail which caused great pain and drew blood. That's never happened before! He never said a word, was totally unconcerned. He then wrote some instructions on a form, never said a word and walked out. His kind and competent assistant came in to cut my nails. She couldn't understand his written instructions on the form when I asked her what they meant and had to go out and ask him for an explanation. I left Dr. Klein's office in a state of shock. So BEWARE of dealing with Dr. Klein if your problem is the same as mine! read more

Dr. Klein saved my life of just resting! Before seeing Dr Klein I had been in foot pain for years. I had two unsuccessful surgeries. I saw multiple podiatrists who basically told me that I would need to live with the pain, wear big ugly shoes and basically rest. I'm in no place in my life to just rest! I'm very active. Just when I had given up and accepted my fate, my husband suggested I see his doctor (Klein). On the first visit he figured out exactly what was wrong and scheduled a quick surgery within 3 weeks. Most unprofessional experience from a medical professional I have ever had. Thank god I don't have anything life threatening. About 2 months ago I checked into his San Carlos office. A girl was screaming bloody murder and shook everyone in the weight room. When he finally saw me he had the wrong file but his assistant had left and he couldn't find mine. So he waisted my time and said they would call, I never heard from them. I called back after the New Year. I drove to his Mountain View office for a 2:45 appointment. I was early, first thing the same assistant that he was running late. Now over an hour later I am still sitting here. Person after person who comes in gets the same explanation of why he is running late without the common sense of a phone call that they are running an hour late! 0 stars, please go to Stanford or Pamf. I came in with a newborn and was immediately told there's a 30 minute wait and suggested I go somewhere and come back. Couldn't you call me? Dr Klein couldn't care less about why I was there for. Didn't ask me any questions about my issue, just took a look at my toenail injury and asked: "what do you want me to do about it?" I asked: "it keeps looking worse and worse. Could this be an infection?" He said: "perhaps..." and recommended a $65 cream that you can only buy at his office OTC and insurance does not cover. Did not seem to care about any of my other concerns and was very rudely brief. I left distressed. Did I mention I had a newborn? After a few weeks of worrying and seeing no improvement with that cream, I went to Stanford Podiatry. I got in promptly, the Doctor was super patient, answered all my questions. Didn't think it was an infection, and was sorry that I was recommended that expensive cream. Said it's efficacy was in the single digits!!! Offered I stay to feed the baby for as long as I needed. I felt such a relief. If I could just go to Stanford initially I wouldn't worry so many weeks about it. Save yourself the time, money and concern and just don't go here. read more

Dr. Klein and his staff are dedicated to helping you with your podiatry problems. I came to Dr. Klein for a 3rd opinion (after being told I simply had Achilles tendonitis, or needed immediate surgery for a torn Achilles). Dr.Klein correctly diagnosed me with Achilles tendonosis (fairly severe - 40-50% of the tendon was affected), and he was very receptive to alternative treatments to avoid surgery, and the long rehab associated with that approach. A combination of ultrasound micro-pulse treatments and a PRP injection have had amazing results! I am no longer in a boot, the tendon has healed almost back to normal, and I am walking without pain and discomfort. Dr. Klein and his entire staff are very easy to talk to, and are genuinely interested in your recovery - my highest recommendation! read more

WAY OVERPRICED. This doctor's office is a rip off. I have insurance but only had three appointments, and have paid nearly $1,000. Looking at the breakdown of what they billed my insurance company, what they call "muscle testing" and billed $120 for, was actually asking me to flex my feet for a few seconds. You're kidding me, right? I got orthotics and went in to get them. Appointment took 15 minutes and consisted of the doctor's assistant putting in the orthotics (basically like insoles) in my sneakers and this strenuous process was billed at $360. I had a great experience with Dr Klein as my doctor. I had foot surgery (tendon repair, pins, plates and screws) almost 5 months ago and things are going quite well. My surgery involved 3 different procedures and everything went really smooth with no complications. My healing time has been exactly on schedule, just as Dr. Klein predicted. After years of having yelp, I'm going to write my first review here. Came here for 2 different in-office surgeries on 3 hammertoes and plenty of follow up appts over the course of years and everything went beautifully. I don't know where the other reviews were coming from aside from impatience over waiting? Dr. Klein is very educated and professional, explained after care and answered questions thoroughly, his nurse Mary is thorough and Lana at the front desk has even last-second let me change an appt around and squeezed me in as a walk-in for a quick 15 min follow up when I was unsure of if my foot was healing right. In maybe 10 appts I'd say my wait is less than 5 mins average, the longest I waited was maybe 15 mins max? So if you're more worried about an extra wait or a courtesy call, maybe not your place. If you're getting bones sawed into and stitches and want your painful hobble to turn into a painless normal person walk, then I recommend- it worked for me. read more

Doctor looked at the ankle and did all the tests related. He proceeded with the treatment gradually and patiently. Pain slowly reduced, but did not go away. He recommended couple of options and discussed the pros and cons. When I had a problem with the second ankle, he did not even look at it for some reason. That is my only complaint. Dr Steven Klein, is a outstanding podiatrist and exceptional surgeon. After being diagnosed with planter fasciitis and a long year of different treatments, I finally was referred to Dr Klein's facility where he quickly gave a different opinion of tarsal tunnel syndrome. Once, I went through the process of actually knowing what the issues were he moved forward aggressively with a treatment plan. During this process I was informed of all possible options and was given the necessary equipment for a successful recovery, unfortunately surgery was needed and successful. The recovery equipment that I found most reliable and helpful is the knee scooter, extremely cool and conversational too say the least. I would like to thank Dr. Klein for fixing my severely broken toe. He put my toe back in place in one try ( when the ER doctors at El Camino wasted four hours and couldn't fix my toe after four very painful attempts at reducing my severe break). If every doctor were as competent as Dr. Klein, I wouldn't need to write this review. But most doctors are mediocre ( at best) and see the patient as a money making vehicle, rather than a person who needs medical attention. Dr. Klein saw me immediately, he treated me with kindness and compassion, and my total charge for casting, xrays, medical evaluation, and extra bandages was 63$.
