I was in need of some serious Vitamin Sea to survive the Yule tide whatever, so I escaped to Florida for Christmas. On Christmas Day, I headed to Bradenton Beach Pier, basking in the sunshine and breathing in that salty air. The best part was there was hardly any crowds. So parking was easy, stress was nonexistent, and peace and tranquillity were the vibes. The real locals were out in full force, the egrets, and other local birds were checking out the people strolling the pier or fishing. Not much was open because it was Christmas, I'm not added to the charm. It felt peaceful, unhurried, and exactly how I wanted my holiday to be. Spending Christmas here during the off-season was a five star reminder that sometimes quiet is the best gift. read more

In 1921, the Cortez Bridge was constructed, connecting the Village of Cortez to what was formerly called Cortez Beach on Anna Maria Island. It was a somewhat shoddy wooden bridge that allowed the original Ford Model T to drive to and from the island. Prior to this, the only method of reaching the island was via boat, and Cortez Beach later became known as Bradenton Beach. A drawbridge was opened in 1967 which ended the use of the wooden Cortez Bridge. The side of the bridge in Cortez Village was removed, while the side in Bradenton Beach remained and was later transformed into the beautiful Bradenton beach pier you see today. This is a place that you can relax, see birds and marine life, boats, great sunrises, clear water, fish and just enjoy "Old Florida." Benches, swings, modern restrooms available with restaurants and shopping near by. Parking is very difficult to find so you might have to park at the beach and walk here during peak times. read more

Another perfect example of a go to place. We are staying at the Bradenton Beach Marina a little bit of a walk to get her but well worth it. I dragged my wife kicking and screaming and we gotta go here. OK she wasn't really kicking and screaming And she did enjoy the menu. If she didn't feel like the short walk from the marina she would just send me knowing I'd hang out the bar drink my Mount Gay and Coke, oysters and bring her a salad back. We were stuck on the island for about 2 1/2 months while we're having repairs done. I say stuck with a wink because it was quite enjoyable. We got to know Anna Maria Island pretty well. This restaurant is one of our top three. And understand that saying something because they have a lot of restaurants and Ann Marie Island. The food is outstanding the service is great and they make you feel like family. After we sell our boat and go back to Florida this will be a place we will definitely go back to you. If you haven't tried it out you should you won't be disappointed. May the wind be at your back. And you have a safe journey. read more

This is a super well-maintained and clean pier which never seemed overrun with people on any of our January visits. It has a couple nice swings at the end which allow you to take in the views day or night and also provides nice fishing opportunities if that's more your speed. Definitely worth a walk and swing if nothing else during your time on the island! read more

Bradenton Beach City Pier -- also known as Bridge Street Pier for its (duh) Bridge Street location -- is a beautifully rustic spot full of Sarasota history. It's a perfect place to stroll and snap some quintessentially Florida pics with excellent views back towards Anna Maria Island, of fishing and leisure boats moored near shore, of the Sunshine Skyway bridge spanning the Bay, and across the water to Cortez. The pier itself boasts a bait and tackle shop, bathhouse and rest facilities, Rotten Ralph's restaurant, and a Harbor Master's office. On top of the views and the culture, BBCP makes excellent bird watching, too: cormorant, Great Egret, Little Egret, Great Blues, Brown Pelican. The 300-foot wooden fishing pier was the original Skyway Bridge from Bradenton Beach to St. Petersburg and environs. When the new Sunshine Skyway was constructed, the old bridge was converted into the fishing pier that it is today. It remains a popular spot for local fishermen and families. On any given day you will find dozens of folks dotting the pier, baiting hooks and casting lines, reeling in their catches, and cleaning the fish at the provided cleaning stations. City has put a lot of money in to the pier, great job! Also the restaurant has changed (Dec. 27, 2015) it has reopened as an Anna Maria Oyster Bar. AMOB has been a local staple in the area for years. However this ones not the same. Just think of it more like an "AMOB Express" order at the counter, limited menu (but lower prices, almost like early bird deals at the full service AMOBs) food comes out fast. If you go in not expecting the full service AMOB, but just a fun, new, clean, counter service joint with great margaritas... You be very happy. read more

Its located away from the beach so that makes it less likely that you'll have kids running all over the place. Me and my family was on vacation stopped at the beach and walked the pier. It was refreshing, water was nice and clear, people were catching fish as we walk it to the end where the restraunt is. you can have your name ingraved on the pier planks by buying a plank to replace an old one your name will be in the new one. The one thing that stood out was their crab cake it is delish. As you sit to wait for it to be made when the waves hit you can feel them in side the restraunt. After all it is part of the pier! read more

My wife and I make it down to Bradenton - and especially Anna Maria Island a few times a season - probably once a month - and we enjoy the City Pier. As you can see in some of the other reviews, the view is Amazing. We also like the food very much. We live in Tampa so it's nice to come down and stroll the beaches and we try and make of point of stopping here. The trick is to go off-season when it's not loaded with tourists (that's why we gave it four instead of five stars - we've come on a couple occasions and had to leave because the crowds were too much - but I guess that's good for the restaurant). The food is not fine dining - it's casual, but it really hasn't done us wrong, and we'll keep going there. Please note - it's now called the Cast and Cage! We recommend if you're looking for a casual atmosphere to hang out, drink beer and watch the water. It's kind of like a Jimmy Buffet song. A little old world Florida that gets lost in the shuffle of Tampa. read more

Yes! This is what beach fare or even it it wasn't on the water--what florida food should be. The location is beach worthy and casual--As soon as you walked in --you felt like you had made a new friend. the location is great as you view out the windows or in nice weather sit on the pier and watch the boats bobbing on the water. We went for lunch --I had the crab cakes and I have to say--they were some of the best of the crab cakes I have ever had. --There was very little filler--be it celery, bread crumbs or anything else--they were crisp without being overdone--bite after bite was full of flavorful wonderful crab. A friend order something with fries and even they were superb--crispy on the outside and potatoy on the inside. This will be our new go to place from now on for a first night when I come to visit my friends. read more

The City Pier is a great spot to hang out and watch the boats go bye. On your walk to the pier, you'll go past some interesting and local shops. When I go on vacation to Florida, I love going to Anna Maria Island and the Bradenton Beach City Pier is a great spot to just sit, relax, and soak Old Florida that can get lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If it is a clear day, you can get some great shots and great views of the Sunshine Skyway and Sarasota Bay. read more

So we went to the pier this summer looking or an opportunity to check out the Bradenton Beach city pier and the sound while having a nice dinner outside. We didn't get to fulfill this small dream because the restaurant was closed! It had been cleaned out (no furniture or anything) and all that was left was the pier. The pier did offer a great opportunity to sit by the bay and enjoy the water while watching some people fish, but no dinner opportunities. read more

This is a lovely pier, very long. Loads of amenities. There's a decent restaurant at the end of Bridge Street (great fried shrimp btw) called AMOB (Anna Maria Oyster Bar), serving breakfast lunch dinner, and also serving beer. Friendly staff, great manager and chef. The pier has clean bathrooms available, loads of seating as you walk out into Tampa Bay. A surprising amount of nice little touches. Good place to fish from or take the family.Plenty of pelicans to watch, too! Once note. Bridge Street has gotten extremely noisy at night. In particular, The Freckled Fish doesn't seem to care how loud their outdoor musicians are, and it becomes pretty obnoxious if you're out for a stroll. I'd avoid this area in the evening, and on weekends, personally. read more

Typical pier atmosphere but very nice. Service was excellent Leah, very conversant, friendly and always on task with any needs! She made us aware of all the specials 2 for $5 beers etc, ordered early bird special was best piece of mahi mahi I ever had! I've had it all over the US including Hawaii and Caribbean, wife had fish and chips reports as very good! For the view atmosphere and food two thumbs up! Awesome very pleased!! read more

The restaurant on the Bridge Street pier is now called " Cast and Go." The view was great, but sadly the food was not. I ordered seared scallops which arrived with no evidence of searing whatsoever. They were thankfully not overcooked, but definitely not seared. The waiter offered a twice baked potato as a side choice, which I ordered. Their definition of twice baked must be different than mine. What I got was obviously a potato that had been baked the day before and then partially reheated to serve to me today. It was lukewarm in the middle, the outside looked kind of shiny and the inside was gray in color. VERY disappointed that a restaurant would choose to serve that to a customer, no matter what you call it. They did bring me some piping hot French fries that were very good. My husband got fish and chips, which he liked a lot. I prefer a light, crispy batter on my fried fish, so did not care for the spongy breading they used. I'd recommend this as somewhere to maybe get a drink and sit out on the back porch enjoying the view. But for the price, (plain macaroni and cheese was $10) and quality (serving a day old potato) I'd save the main meal for somewhere else. I do have to commend our waiter, who was very helpful and attentive. read more
