"Our Trip to Sarasota" On a whim, my wife and I stopped in during our trip from Sarasota to St. Pete. We were determined to take advantage of their "potato raised" donuts, which are any of the flavors that are not "cake." We had a Boston Creme and a Apple Fritter while there, along with some exceptionally good coffee; then, we took a dozen to go! I wish I'd known about this place when I lived in Bradenton; but, my expanding waistline suggests its best that it's 3 hours away from our home in Orlando. After freezing them for nearly 2 weeks, I am please to report that the donuts are still delicious and enjoyable when thawed. Took a detour off Exit 217 on I-75 South, feeling excited about the specialty donuts they offer on a Tuesday & arrived shortly an hour away from closing time which is at 2 pm to find a few of the standard flavors available alone. The gentleman behind the counter said the "earlier one arrives" on their visit, increases the chances of scoring their specialty donuts - so that's good to keep in mind if you plan on checking them out. I didn't want to waste my trip so I picked up an apple fritter donut. I really liked the bigger portion they make. The texture was on the dry side but the taste was on point. I'd definitely recommend having hot coffee to pair with their apple fritter since its texture was a bit drier but the texture could've been a result of the time of day I was purchasing it at. Perhaps they are richer in how moist their texture can be, earlier in the day. I didn't try coffee there since I didn't feel too trusting. I had my homemade iced concoction made with Starbucks vanilla cold brew concentrate and macadamia nut mylk, sweetened with Stevia in the raw. But hot coffee would've been the ideal pairing. I would definitely try them again in the future, granted i can make it there earlier. Perhaps on weekends you may be able to score the more rare specialty flavors like their strawberry cake donuts even if you visit after noon time. read more

Love their donuts but even better is their customer service. I called and placed a order for my group. I got the total so I could bring cash. They do charge a service fee for credit cards. When I got there to pick up my donuts, The price was lower than quoted. As they were imputing they saw that they did not give me the full dozen discount. Wow! This is the place! This donut shop is the real deal. He makes his donuts from scratch daily and in some varieties uses potato flour to make his "potato raised " donuts. He obviously takes pride in what he creates but don't expect any Hipster-Foodie varieties with bacon and crap that should never be affiliated with a donut. No sir, these donuts are made like donuts are meant to be made. $4 for 1/2 dozen of some of the best that the Florida Gulf shore has to offer. I'll put these donuts up against any I have eaten anyplace in New England or New York City. Get a variety and note the density, the craftsmanship, texture and flavor. This donut shop has my FAVORITE Boston Cream donuts. It is like no other donut... They are huge and have lots of chocolate frosting with the sweet vanilla cream. Also the flavor of the donut it self has a really good taste with the frosting/cream mixture. Stop by and you won't be disappointed!!!! Although they do run out quickly - so be sure to be early! I gave this a try as the yelp reviews looked promising and it was on Tamiami on the way from Sarasota to the Tampa airport. It is located on the west side of the street, right before a dead end street so if you would like to park in the lot, don't miss the entrance! I arrived mid afternoon and the selection was small. The proprietor recommended the sour cream glazed, which happens to be my favourite, and I obliged. I also ordered a small coffee which was of a decent size. The interior takes you back to the 80s...bland, small, and yellow. It's good for a small stop and a cup of joe but nothing outstanding. read more

Very friendly staff and service, However the donuts taste like rancid grease and it smelled like old grease when you were in there. I can't go back because they don't change their grease like they should. I felt sick after eating my donut.
