For the most part, I'm pretty happy with the care I get at the Bradenton VA clinic. The check-in experience isn't always the best or quickest, but they do get the job done. I've received a number of different types of care here; dental, ultrasounds, audiology, etc. The equipment is all good, I'd say state of the art. The dental clinic only has one dentist and one dental hygienist, but they are top-notch, A+. read more

On hold now for 39 minutes now waiting to make an appointment with the dental hygienist who only spends 30 minutes cleaning my teeth. I've only been there once and was treated like a parasite. The receptionist remained on a personal call without acknowledging me whilst I stood in front of her. I was no war hero but did serve 26 years including 2 tours in Afghanistan, we all deserve better than this. read more

I was thrown out of the dentist office, the dentist saying to me over and over again that I should go to Bay Pines VA instead because it is closer to me. He said that the bridge closes down often (not true, very rarely), and that there is much traffic going to Bradenton VA from St Petersburg. The VA made this apoinment for me saying that this is the only dental clinic and that's why I went to it. I didn't expect to be treated horribly like this and I will never return to Va Bradenton Cboc. Not only that, but the doctor said he will make an appointment for me to go the Bay Pines Va Clinic but never did, he made an appointment for the Bradenton VA Clinic and I was told to make the appointment myself. I don't mind making an appointment but lying to me is not something I take lightly. Avoid this VA Clinic, as the members of the dental clinic are the most rude people I've ever met and don't care how you feel how they treat you. Especially when a dentist says they will do something but never does and leaves you in the dust. read more

Avoid if possible. Been to many VA facilities in the past four decades. This clinic is by far the most incompetent and rude nursing and doctor staff. Most of the support staff do their best to be courteous and efficient. You can't get through to your doctor, calls are not returned and they have no respect for the veterans time. The lab staff is curt and unfriendly. There is a specific primary care doctor that has proven to be racist and dismissive. She doesn't listen and doesn't review your records and she knows who she is. If you have a choice, go to Bay Pines or the Saint Pete clinic. There you will be treated respectfully. read more

I cannot say how lucky we as veterans are to have this facility so close to us. I have found everyone to be courteous, caring, professional and delivering exceptional care. Both my husband and I are patients there, and I highly recommend. What a blessing they are! Thank you! read more

This facility has come a long way since they opened. The last 3 visits were fast and courteous. At least Audiology handled appointments quickly and on-time. Still, it has taken me several visits to get the right/correct fitting hearing aids. Hope to get my need resolved this year. read more

There are many good things this CBOC does that shows they care for veterans, but there are also things this clinic does that violates the HIPAA laws governing information privacy. One thing that recently caught my eye was the screener at the front entrance to the clinic. According to the rules governing the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), the following is the rule of law. "The Standards for Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information ("Privacy Rule") establishes, for the first time, a set of national standards for the protection of certain health information. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services ("HHS") issued the Privacy Rule to implement the requirement of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 ("HIPAA").1 The Privacy Rule standards address the use and disclosure of individuals' health information--called "protected health information" by organizations subject to the Privacy Rule -- called "covered entities," as well as standards for individuals' privacy rights to understand and control how their health information is used. Within HHS, the Office for Civil Rights ("OCR") has responsibility for implementing and enforcing the Privacy Rule with respect to voluntary compliance activities and civil money penalties. He then gives a very public medical decision of your health status in front of all other veterans and spouses and sometimes vendors waiting to enter and standing in line not including all veterans sitting just inside the door who can hear this as well with the doors open. If you show a higher than normal temp, he (and all other greeters) then very publicly make an on the spot medical decision that you are unhealthy, contagious and refuses you entrance for your appointment and in front of everyone standing in line. This can be an extremely embarassing and humiliating experience and for those veterans with PTSD or anxiety, this can elevate their symptoms. #1. The greeter just sat in his chair and asks the veteran to lean into him (Bowing) in order to take your skin temp. He does not know if veterans have balance issues, back problems, in your bubble closeness issues or any other medical problem that may be exacerbated by leaning forward when all he needs to do is get off his lazy A$$ and stand up. #2. This man then asks you for private medical information in front of other veterans, spouses and vendors standing in line. He asks "why are you here today" when that is neither his business or anyone else standing in line. This is a violation of HIPAA laws governing the collection of and dissemination of "private medical information." I've asked these greeters at other CBOC's why they ask for private information and have been told that "they can then better determine which area you need to go to." Just about every veteran I know around the country that goes to CBOC's knows where they are going and does not need to be told by a greeter. If they do, they just ask for directions. This CBOC and all other VA facilities need to cease and desist in this very public gathering of and delivery of, private medical information and especially to those who have no medical or professional reason for asking for it. If I could give zero stars I would. Just filed a formal Complaint with one of the staff members Lourdes. This is supposed to be for Veterans that served this country and in turn them and their spouses should get the best care possible. The staff are not there to judge and accuse the veterans which is exactly what Lourdes did. I know Dr. Long is probably no aware of how his staff treats the patients and their spouses. Every veteran and spouse has a right to speak their mind when their staff accuse veterans of rescheduling an appointment. My apologies for all veterans that have to deal with this Lourdes in advanced. I would expect that Dr. Long will take care of this matter as there are highly trained and qualified individuals that would do a much better job at servicing our veterans. read more

Appointments are 3 months to 5 months out. If u remember to go after that long, you will still end up waiting at least 3hrs to be seen!

I have been seeing Dr. Yeater for about a year and a half. He is by far the most compassionate and knowledgable family medicine doctors I've been to. You never feel rushed, he answers your questions as throughly as he can, and always makes sure follow ups are ordered and that you feel comfortable when you leave. He will definitely be a doctor I follow if he ever leaves and stays in the area. All of the nurses I've dealt with at the Bradenton clinic have all been very kind and friendly as well. I've noticed a few people get upset with wait times, but I've never understood why. Sometimes great care takes a bit longer than they schedule. At least you know patients are very well taken care of here. I've been to lots of different VAs and in my opinion, this is by far one of the best ran clinics. read more

I am very upset and very unhappy with this VA outpatient clinic. I have gone to over 20 VA clinics and hospitals across the nation, and I've never been treated so poorly as the mental health clinic in Bradenton has treated me. I recently moved back to the area and set up an appointment to see a doctor, I never got to see a primary care specialist, nor was I triaged, I was sent straight back to the psychiatrist who promptly decided that they would discontinue my medication that I've been on for over 17 years for severe anxiety, bipolar, and PTSD which hospitalized me many times in the past. Then I called and talk to the patient advocate, who said he would get me a new doctor, but then I got a call from the clerk saying that they were not going to change doctors, they were not going to put me back on my medication, and left a bunch of false statements in my medical records. Anyone out there reading this, I employ you to get a free copy of your medical records and go over them and read what these doctors are writing about you, you would be surprised. read more

I just want to commend the people at the Bradenton Outpatient Clinic on State Route 64. All the staff seem to care about a patient as a person of importance. They are knowlegeable and friendly. Thank you all. read more
