Just got back from Florida, and I HAVE to give my girl Fed her flowers! She was, hands down, the NICEST and most caring braider I've ever met. Seriously, my experience with her was the best I've had since landing in LA (4 years ago). Not only is she professional, but she's also an amazing storyteller who kept me entertained the whole time. Even when she had to rewash my hair (shout out to my thick, coarse 4C hair), she handled it like a pro--no complaints, unlike some other braiders I've dealt with. She took her time, washed, detangled, and even gave me tips on how to care for my hair. And this was all BEFORE we even got to the braids! Now, let's talk about the braids... they are STUNNING. Crisp, flawless, and they're STILL looking amazing after being washed twice during my vacation. Future warning for customers wanting to book: Completely unprofessional and execute poor communication skills. I called the salon to book an appointment, the person on the phone gave me a braiders number to complete the appointment process & never gave me specific steps to follow in order to book the appointment. I did not feel comfortable or guided by this appointment process. As a couple days go by, I never knew I had to complete a deposit, (which is normal) but, nobody touched base with me to secure my appointment, so I never was booked with them in the first place... Plus in addition, if I didn't purchase hair from Braid Queen LA products then I would have to bring the hair 2 days in advance. I knew from the start if I went into the salon I probably would have not gotten the style desired if this was how braiders communicate with future clients trying to book in the future. read more

Lucy was very sweet and nice. The salon was cleaned and organized, very hospitable. It didn't take long to get a full head of box braids which is a plus. My only concern is I can't see the back so I have no clue what it looked like until I got back to check it. I do feel the braiding was fast however the wide spread spacing I'm I'm not a fan of because it just looks weird when the hair is down. But the hair feels like. I'm guessing that's why it's like that she used less hair to not have tension on your hair. I took 1 star off because I felt like her cellphone had her a little occupied. Black owned beauty supply in Ktown!! I love it! Most times it is hard to find a beauty supply that has all my black hair care needs and is black owned and I found the spot. Braid Queen LA is a small spot in Koreatown that had everything I needed. Edge control, hair clips, hair scarves and hair growth oil. The owner came out to help and provide recommendations to other hair care products. It was so welcoming and comfortable to come in and not feel profiled but also feel comfortable enough to ask questions and advice and it was trusted because the owner was a black female and spoke from experience. The products here already are over priced which i understood reasons why that could be. But I'm on the phone trying to place an order and was met with a very rude employee. If you're thinking of checking this place out - do it. They have an amazing selection and they have unique options. I found both Amber and ginger colored braiding hair. To give you an example, these colors would be matched for the L'Oréal Hi-color, sizzling copper and ginger. I say all of this to say: I have never found matches for these colors - not even on Amazon. HAPPINESS!! I had my first appointment ever with Lucy yesterday 06/12, as the world slowly opened. I found myself needing a new stylist and when I discovered Lucy was walking distance from me in Koreatown, I had to check her out and I am so happy I did. I wear a full sewn-in weave and from take down to curl up, it was a good experience. The braid up was pain less and as well as the sewing of the tracks and the curls are beautiful. Lucy is amazing at what she does! She wasn't even feeling well and was still able to finish my hair in 6 hours. I got small/medium size box braids. I constantly gets compliments on my hair. Although the hair looked nice, the ends were not thin as they should be. They were very puffy and noticeable. She uses ALOT of hair and may ask you to buy 10 packs of hair. For box braids, that is wayyyy to much and it will be too heavy on your hair. She is good at what she does but you can find someone else to do your braids just as well to accommodate what you want. I rcecently got my first set of box braids by Lucy and I love them. It has been almost 2 weeks and they are still neat and tight. The process took about 6 hours (quicker than what I expected) and Lucy made the process enjoyable and comfortable. She is down to earth and funny. I highly recommend texting her for a quote and appointment rather than calling. While I was in her chair her phone was ringing off the hook and she was getting messages like crazy, she is a busy woman!
