They take intriguing field trips that we talk about for weeks. The educational experience is very integrated. They love helping their peers and getting to know the children who are younger and older. Children are respectful and quiet. They are fully absorbed in the learning experience. We have been at the Elizabeth Academy for 3 years now and I only wish we had found out about it sooner. I wish all children could have an educational experience that is as magical as the Elizabeth Academy. In response to the two other reviews... My daughter who is in seventh grade has muscular dystrophy. She was a new student in sixth grade and was heavily encouraged to return in seventh grade. She, in particular, loves the school. For the first time in her life she is not the only child who is different. She is one of two children at the school with a severe physical disability there are also several children with profound mental disabilities. There are many, many children with mild disabilities of varying types. I know that some of these children are there on scholarship and I have seen them return year after year. The school tries to accommodate therapies within the school day. We have been at several schools in two different states. I have never had an educational experience with my children as good as the Elizabeth Academy. I think they do a fantastic job.

The confidence in learning is so evident. They were able to spot a reading difficultly in my child and intervened early and now my child is thriving in reading! For $50 they provide a 2-weekend training at their headquarters in South Salt Lake; complete with heart-string jerking stories of their students, role playing real-life scenarios, creating a lesson plan and a swanky orange tote bag. The staff and mentors are amazing and I completed the program feeling a lot of responsibility in my new teaching role, but well-equipped and with an ample support system. The first exam I took here, the proctor argued what material I was able to bring. I explained I had…read morebeen preparing for the exam for a long time and was sure of what the rules were. After debating, they checked again and said I was correct and allowed my materials. This was a stressful beginning to my long exam with no scheduled break. The temperature in the room was unbearably hot and they had a box fan blasting hot air around the room. By the end of my exam, I was saturated like I had wet myself, from my knees to my armpits. I was wearing pants and a t-shirt. I felt dizzy and nauseated. Unbearable conditions for a long exam. They take so long checking you in and out, I have been afraid to use the bathroom. The second exam I took here smelled like someone was smoking cigarettes in the center. I don't know where it was coming from but it was overwhelming. Again they argued about my material I am allowed to use with my exam but I had printed the test booklet and was able to hand it to them to read with Prometrics policy for my exams page highlighted for them to look at on their own website. Prometric sent out a notice of FAILURE for not showing up, to everyone who sat for my exam. OUTRAGEOUS! I reached out to Prometric weeks ago to discuss these things with them. I thought they might want to know and appreciate the notice instead of a review. No one ever replied. I am applying to get on the board in my field to try and move the exams to another testing center. The date for my exam was incorrect from what the board had announced. Trying to explain and correct this with Prometric was impossible. Good luck with these people on the phone. I fixed it myself but it took a week. How does Prometric hold exams for so many professional licenses and operate at such a low bar?

I read all the…read morereviews, then made a trip down there two days before the exam to make sure I knew exactly where the place was, that they would accept my identification methods, that I had the time correct and get any advice from them about what I needed to remember about Prometric's rules. The staff were welcoming, non-judgmental and very helpful. Were they on time the day of testing? Yes. Early, actually. Did I have to fight a crowd the day of my exam? No. there were about 6 people there when I registered. When I left there were three people at the front desk either waiting to be processed or being fingerprinted, which was not a requirement for MY exam. Was the place hard to find? No. There are two entrances which could be confusing, but read the other reviews with pictures and it will help. Was the staff knowledgeable, helpful and kind? Absolutely. They went out of their way to make test takers feel less stressed. Is there a locker to put your cell and bag? Yes. They are small lockers so a backpack might be a stretch, but a handbag is do-able. Over the years I've attempted to learn Spanish several times without much success. I've enrolled in…read morecollege and community education classes and tried Rosetta Stone and other apps. Spanish just never made sense to me and being forced to memorize words, conjunctions, and tenses was downright boring. Earlier this year I planned to visit Colombia and hoped to learn more Spanish in preparation for my trip. I wanted to be more conversational during our travels and to be able to get around easier. I knew I wouldn't be able to master Spanish in a few weeks, but I wanted to learn as much as possible to make my trip more enjoyable and fun. I discovered EL KING Language Institute was near my home and called them to learn more about their Spanish classes. They invited me to attend a sample class and I showed up that next week for an evening class with Dr. Thomas Quiroz. Had a mastered Spanish in a few short weeks? Certainly not. But in only a few weeks at the EL KING Language Institute, I'd learned more Spanish than in any previous class I'd taken. By understanding the structure of the language with the assistance of the "one page book," I was able to ask and respond to questions, order from a menu, ask for help and directions, and carry on a basic conversation.
