He picked up my hand and with every finger asking me, "do you feel this"? Knowing this he proceeded with the EMG test, which consist of a needle pricks in muscle. On 2/21/25, still having pain and not just in hands but other areas of the body. I drove to his office on Vermont in Los Angeles from Bellflower, and he was very nonchalant about my concerns, and pain, stating, " I have did this for over 40 years and never had a problem, maybe you have "arthritis" you can take Advil and speak to your QME". "We had to finish the test, it was a WC case". He brought out his daughter who is a doctor too and she agreed with him of course. I'm in more pain now, than when I went in weeks ago. I wish I would have researched this test before or been given information from the doctor before my appointment. At least I would have been able to choose if I wanted this test or choose other testing options. So, I believe I was damaged from the testing, so go at your own RISK!

Prior to meeting Drew, I spent six months with a different physical therapy team and had yet to see much progress. Drew did an initial assessment and workout with me and recommended a course of action. He assigned me to a fantastic therapist named Emily. What I like about Emily and the whole Motus team is that I get to spend the entire session with a physical therapist. This is such a refreshing change from seeing the PT for 10 minutes and then working with an assistant for the whole time. Moreover, I learned from talking to Emily about the very high standards that Drew has for hiring his team and the advanced education that he requires to qualify for an interview. His team has a lot of experience working with college and pro athletes, which tells me they are outstanding. My experience has been fantastic! I went from not being able to do a push-up due to my rotator cuff to being able to complete a full-body workout with no pain. At the same time, I have a very unique program that I can do with me when my time ends, and I was being pushed every workout that I had. Since I'm an old dude trying to live like a young dude, I occasionally run into some nagging injuries. Emily has been absolutely fantastic at helping me work through those or giving me some tips and tricks to help prevent them. Emily is great, the team is great, the results are great, and the environment is great. If you actually want to get well and get stronger, go to Motus. I couldn't recommend them more!

She was unclear as to why I was there after filling out intake form online with DETAILED dx and mri results. She immediately stated that " I don't think physical therapy will help you".. really?? My Doctor thinks so! Then she said, " I have sciatica - it never goes away. I stated that I had sciatica 5 years ago, did physical therapy and do my exercises to this day it has not returned.. she said, yes, that's good. Whaaaat?!! I asked what we could do to help calm the pain - ie: ice therapy, decompression, massage, tens unit.. she just said," we don't do that". Then she proceeded to have me attempt movements to get a baseline - I told her this is extremely painful - I have done this at physicians office - I have all the records and notes for you .. she just looked confused and asked me to stand and bend ( 5 bulging and one herniated disk) Then she asked if Dr recommended surgery - I said, no Dr recommended physical therapy!!!! After about 10 minutes of this nonsense, I stood up and said, no, this isn't what I need" she said, " okay bye". I have been to physical therapy in the past and this place was negative, uncaring, and extremely disorganized with no communication what so ever. I called Medicare and we are watching to see if they try to bill for an hour appointment since I was there with her less than 10 minutes. Very disappointed to say the least.

Among the injuries I sustained, the most significant were skull base fractures and fractures of my orbit, which led the emergency doctors to diagnose me with traumatic optic neuropathy. After consultations with maxillofacial specialists and ophthalmologists, I was told I was legally blind, 20/230, and that this was now my life. Devastated, I reached out to Dr. Lin who was highly referred by a longtime family friend. She felt he and his team should see me and offer other opinions. While Western medicine may refer to Dr. Lin as a "physical therapist," I don't think that language fully defines what he does. At our first meeting, he was gentle, attentive, and deeply aware of my condition. His method is difficult for me to fully articulate, but it was unlike anything the physicians I had seen before had provided. Dr. Lin created a treatment plan in collaboration with his in-house acupuncturist, Dr. Park, and the two of them treated me in concert. I visited them about once a month. Dr. Park performed acupuncture targeting specific hemispheres they agreed would be beneficial, while Dr. Lin used manual techniques, pressing, pulling, and adjusting different parts of my face and body. One moment stands out clearly in my memory. As Dr. Park had acupuncture needles placed in the points she selected, Dr. Lin pressed a section of my face under my eye with significant pressure. The instant he released, my nasal passage cleared dramatically. I had been so focused on my vision that I ignored other parts of my body that also needed attention. This is what impressed me most: their understanding of the interconnectedness of the human body, and the way each system affects the next. Even though I came in focused on a single issue, they recognized that other problems could be developing or stagnating and that treating one area would likely set off a domino effect. They addressed everything collectively rather than isolating one symptom. Dr. Park also gave me homework: changes to my diet, foods to avoid, preferred cooking methods, and even the temperature of liquids I should consume. Detailed instructions that had never been offered nor had I considered. Western medicine had only offered me chemical treatments or surgeries to remove or implant. Dr. Lin was one of the few who was relieved I had not had a surgery and was not taking medication. In my most desperate moment, when the reality of vision loss was fresh and overwhelming, they helped keep hope alive. I am happy to say that I have since improved to 20/40 vision. Slowly, every day I feel a little better. I am not claiming that Dr. Park and Dr. Lin performed miracles. What I do believe is that the treatment they provided stimulated something meaningful in my recovery. Maybe I would have healed to this extent without them, maybe not. But I wholeheartedly feel that their treatment encouraged my body to heal itself. I am four months removed from the incident, I have my vision back and I feel great. Recovery is not complete, but I am in a place now that my Ophthalmologist told me never to expect. Thank you to both Dr. Lin and Dr. Park. I could not be more grateful.
