It's first come first serve served which is a terrible thing to offer. My son needs are not to be played with. He needs constant routine. The fact that they offer as lotto base is ridiculous. I brought my son in for his speech therapy appointment, only to be told they no longer accept dual insurance coverage. We have Anthem Blue Cross through my employer and my son qualified for Medi-Cal in September of this last year. Open enrollment for Anthem blue cross ended in December and we're not willing to disenroll him from Medi-cal after everything we went through to get it. He was diagnosed several years ago with Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 3 and he is non-verbal. Now we have to look for a new speech therapy provider since Maxum decided to let us know of their new policy at the last minute. Thanks, Maxum! read more

We have since made progress and got an appointment for my sons consultation for feeding therapy. The staff was extremely nice. It was a bit confusing where to check in when you first walk in. We had scheduled two appointments for our first actual feeding therapy appointment. They were both canceled the day before because we were waiting for insurance approval. I have already received proof the insurance approved and confirmed on the phone but don't have the appointment for therapy. We've started this process in august. I was with this company for roughly a year until the customer services got worse. My sons COTA was great and she is not the reason why we quit working with them. My main reason for canceling was a general lack of professionalism. People with their feet up in the main office. People on their phone with clients. I also had multiple no shows - no call issues. I had an evaluation scheduled last minute per their mistake. I spoke to a manager and switched to another OT/Speech on November 2022 and yet they still call me to have my son go to OT even though I am no longer a client. Again- this is a poorly run company. After this call today I figured I needed to make that visible to other parents of autistic toddlers out there. Find someone else! read more

!!Maxum Therapy Pediatric!! **autistic parent review** %**Please look at their philosophy promise on the photo attached.**% My son had been a patient from February 2021 -Dec 2021. This review is for our speech services experience with Maxum Therapy. I have been 87% present in the room during my son's therapy session at Maxum Therapy. First, I would like to state that Maxum Therapy Pediatric FAILS meets all their philosophy displayed on their pediatric website page. It is NOT about you(or your child). All special needs parents know the burdens and struggles we carry in having a special needs child! We often have more than one therapy provider, and we search for flexible companies that make the patient feel like a priority and offer solutions when complications arise. However, my experience with Maxum Therapy Pediatric has been bitter and irritable! I waited so long to switch companies because there was a waitlist in other companies, and I did not want to stop my son's speech services completely. I decided to share our three significant bad experiences My first significant experience was with their front desk employees. They TREMOUDSLY fail to provide common courtesy. A Carls Jr cashier does a better job! My first encounter conflict with the front desk was May 2021. It was a chaotic day, and I completely forgot to bring our facemask for the first time. I noticed as I unloaded my kiddo from the car and thought of asking the front reception for one. "Sorry, no mask, no service," was what she told me. I asked if she could kindly provide some since this was our first time. "They are a dollar each if you want one. " I had no cash on me, so I asked her, "Could I pay you next week for our next appointment." "No, that doesn't work. I am going to have to cancel your appointment due to breaking company policy." All expressed in an unprofessional matter. If it wasn't for my husband's arrival and having an extra mask, they were going to cancel my son's appointment. That was the first time I felt that my child, being a patient, was not a priority because my son's speech therapy was called off by something that had a simple solution to it. Although their front desk lack professionalism, I will say Maxum Therapy does carry a good team of a speech pathologist. They are professional, focused, and have excellent pediatric verbal communication skills. **HOWEVER, Please also know that 85% of their speech pathologist and Physical therapist are NOT ABA TRAINED.** Their speech pathologist DO NOT build a relationship with your kiddo. As they set your appointments, your child is guaranteed to get a different therapist on every visit. It's a 3 to 4-week cycle until you see a previous therapist again. So this became our second most significant conflict with Maxum Therapy. Our autistic son meeting with different speech therapists became an issue, especially when they were not ABA trained. He had difficulty following through with the requested task because the therapist did not recognize nor know to apply the proper ABA tools during the escape behavior. (There was never any physical aggressiveness from his end, I was always in the room.) Anywho, my son got written up and a warning for his escape behavior. I completely understand that companies must have protocols and policies; however, I feel Maxum Therapy demonstrates insensitivity and ignorance by overlooking the functions and approaches to autistic patients in placing such "policies" like these. They also have "late" or "no show" terms. Therefore, my third significant experience was that I accidentally missed ONE damn appointment (like any other normal human being eventually does) in November, and my child and I got punished for that!! How, you ask? Making future appointments will no longer be available to you. Your child's appointments WILL get pushed back, and the front office will only call you on THEIR availability; you get contacted for a late notice appointment. If you can't make it, your child's appointment session is pushed until the following week to come, and again, they contact you AT RANDOM during the week with only two-time slots,...... so the cycle goes on. Eventually, you realize that your child has missed a month or so of their speech therapy session. **Therefore, my child, too, gets punished because Maxum Therapy strips away his chance to grow verbally by not giving their total effort to work a schedule out with the parent/guardian. In conclusion, the Maxum Therapy Pediatric front desk office fails to provide essential patient services. They represent unprofessionalism by overlooking the basic needs and approaches to Autistic children, dominating meetings, telephone rudeness, and lack of common courtesy. Their therapist ARE professional with good communication skills, fun, and persistence. However, not ALL are ABA trained and do not build a relationship with your child. I have actually some great experiences here. It I've also had petty frustrating sessions. I believe the therapists here are well educated I found it frustrating that you have to say the right words to a specific the realist. I was put in my place when I described my pain being different every day. The therapist was dismissive. They were annoyed at me and let me know it! I kept going back because I loved their work but I was always slightly uncomfortable. So I would only say the minimum to not upset. Very arrogant man! I know we have differences but I missed an appointment, sadly because I truly needed the work after back surgery, but MaXum took no time to cancel me completely. Maxum pediatric speech has been a God sent. The staff are incredible, they are patient with me, answer all my questions and concerns. Before I started with Maxum, they informed me of their AM session restrictions and I moved forward. I know that many places don't take on any new patients and the waitlists are 6 months to be seen for care. I am thankful to have even found care for him. And great care at that! His speech therapist has been working with him for a little over 4 months.. he finally said his name yesterday!! We are so blessed, she works hard with him, she gives us the handouts and we do the work at home with our son. She is patient, she plays games that he likes, he is excited to see her and work with her! In fact he rushes me out of the lobby to spend time with her! The team are so great, updated his goals so that he meets them. The front staff is incredible, Miss Delmi and Miss Darlene in particular, they have been so patient with me, so kind, they are just excited when I tell him my son has met a goal! They see him in the lobby and interact with him with love. I am so thankful for this staff and this team. Maxum therapy has truly increased my son's quality of life. They've given him a voice! Tools to communicate with us! I will always be thankful and sing their praises!! This is the worst place for physical therapy in the world. I went for 3 visits and each visit was worst than the previous one. Do not come to this place. I had 4 more sessions to go, but I can do this on my own and much better. First of all I drive a Corvette that is low, but the one and only driveway for this place is so bad, every car bottoms out. I asked them why they didn't post a sign and they said they got use to driving slow at an angle. But that certainly does not help new customers from damaging their car. My first visit was with an older guy my age and he said he had many years of experience, so I scheduled my next 6 visits with him for my knee surgery physical therapy. I went out of my way to rearrange my schedule around him. My second visit, he lightly massaged my sore knee for 5 minutes and then turned me over to a very green kid who might of been all of 21. I thought the older guy had a personal matter to attend to. That was until today when the same routine happened again and I was told that this is their policy. I don't need a kid telling me to do exercises that I have been doing for 50 years. I chose the experienced guy on purpose, but their policy is that he can turn you over to a green kid probably earning minimum wage after 5 minutes is just pathetic. Any other place is better than this place. I even called my insurance company that was paying for this, and told them what a terrible place this is. My son goes here for OT. Everything was going good until today when we had our Physical therapy intake, the therapist was great. This review is based on the company method for scheduling. First the therapist told us she was available all day, which we thought great we don't want to take him out of school. But the front desk said they only had mornings available. The therapist came over and told her she was available . But then the lady at the front desk said they have to give priority to other clients who have been here longer. This just doesn't sit well with me. Even though its been almost a year that we have been here for OT. This just made my experience bad. We will have to change PT providers. Natalie!!!! What a rock star!!! My father had cardiac arrest in 2019, as a result he had to have a pacemaker placed in his chest. Unfortunately a possible side effect was apraxia, my father already had aphasia, but now it was combined with the apraxia. Natalie not only properly diagnosed my father, she has taken the time to work with my father consistently even through the pandemic at first in person then VIA ZOOM. I had been through severely SLP's prior to getting settled with Natalie, and she has been such a positive and informative impact for my father as well as my entire family. She has given us tools for our family to incorporate with my father so that we can continue to help my father's speech improve. Natalie really cares about her clients, it's evident with the communication between her and me. She won't hesitate to send me helpful Apps for my father's phone, worksheets to practice, and will also include me in her weekly sessions with my father and provide feedback even if I am unable to attend. Currently we are getting a swallow test to check a newly developing (hopefully not a problem) issue. And if it were not her noticing my dad coughing while taking a sip of water and ordering a swallow test, the issue would probably have been over looked. Natalie is a Super Rock Star!! Your front receptionist could have told me, after waiting 20 min in the lobby thinking I had an appointment to find out it was cancelled, COULD HAVE informed me that no more appointments were going to be available for the rest of the year so I would not have to waste my time in waiting for my daughters pediatrician to put in a referral, and actually wait for it to be approved, and then call to make the appointment that was not guaranteed in the first place.. I was referred by my mom. She's been coming to MAXUM for a few years. She's talked highly of PT, Bryan Hoppe. I never knew what she was talking about until I had my first session. I kid you not, he is absolutely amazing! Healing hands I must say. I started to go to Bryan for my knee and low back pain. My insurance ended but I still go to him ( check out their payment plans if you don't have insurance). I honestly recommend PT, Bryan Hoppe. His experience in PT and MFR is just mind blowing. My experience at Maxum has been superb. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the insurance billing easy. I first went to Maxum specifically to see Bryan Hoppe, recommend by a physical therapist friend, to treat a ten year old knee injury that never healed properly. It affected the way I walked up and down stairs, limited my running and impacted my yoga practice--all in my 20's. Bryan has specialized, advanced training in the Barnes method of myofascial release. Through a series of patient-PT collaborative treatments (in the Barnes method called "unwinding"), I was able to regain mobility and strength. Best of all, however, was that this method of treatment makes room for the body to unlock stuck, unfinished emotions from last traumatic experiences. As we worked collaboratively on the table, I discovered many places where emotions were stored in my body from past, unprocessed trauma. I know that not everyone is interested in this kind of intensive work. It takes courage and vulnerability--two things I grew in over our sessions together. The results were seriously incredible and so freeing! There is a wealth research on how emotional wounds actually must be healed in the body. I recommend "Waking the Tiger" by Peter Levine. I wasn't expecting to get treated for anything besides my knee injury--but through our patient-led unwinding sessions, I was able to feel and move through emotional pain, cry (a rare thing for me), and discover strength and assertiveness I didn't know I had. I'm much kinder to myself. Moral of the story: I'm so grateful that I got to work with Bryan. My knee injury has healed to the point where I don't need treatment for it, so regretfully I don't get to work with Bryan regularly anymore. Both my body and my heart are more whole because of the work I did at Maxum! If you're looking for a great PT, I can't recommend Bryan highly enough. read more

After having suffered a minor shoulder injury, I balked on having surgery to pursue this alternative. The staff here is young and trustworthy. I been coming here for six weeks for my wrist and arm . my experience with Dr. Kim was the best I had from day one from when I walked in the door to when went home . What I love is she has her own office we're it's more comfortable , and that it's just us one on one, I'm able to feel at ease knowing nobody is listening or walking in or out . I love all her techniques that she uses . In addition to that she has a number or exercises that have helped me to get better and strengthen my wrist and arm . I like the fact that she has goals set , that just shows she's there to help and she cares and wants to see patient progress. To say this review is long overdue is an understatement. I want to make it clear that this review is for Elle only and not for Maxum as a whole. Maxum doesn't have great reviews because they're office staff just tries to book you with anyone available and they don't communicate with one another or their therapists. I've gotten phone calls regarding things that I've communicated via email with Elle before personnel asked her, I've gotten phone calls about nonsense. They're office and personnel needs to be better. Maxum very much treats their patients like numbers. I don't think that personnel particularly cares about the patient, but more so the money they can bill insurance. As with anything, advocate for your children and yourself. Do not let any company treat you like a commodity. The deduction in stars is for the company not my children's speech therapist, Elle who is like a unicorn when it comes to speech pathologists. Now onto the good stuff, Miss Elle. I have been taking my children to Maxum therapy for 3 years. We go to Maxum exclusively for speech therapy. Both my children had speech delays. After bouncing from speech therapist to speech therapist for about 6 months, we noticed that our children really made the most improvements after their sessions with Elle. And from then on, Elle has been the only speech therapist we will work with. Our daughter was a little over 2 years old when she started speech and after a year of consistent sessions with Elle, she is a complete chatterbox. She graduated speech after a year and I couldn't be more proud of her. I often joke that maybe I shouldn't have gotten her speech therapy because she loves to talk, lol. My son started with Elle when he was 4 years old. He's on the spectrum and went to a few other companies before going to Maxum. No one could really get through to him until he started working with Elle. She took time to understand my son. She figured out what motivated him and used techniques that made speech therapy fun. The activities she gave us to work on at home were great. She helped both my husband and myself learn how to use the right language and techniques to consistently work on his speech. Elle has gone above and beyond to help my son talk. I often video times when he's struggling to say certain words and show them to her during our sessions. This has helped tremendously because she can see what he struggles with outside of sessions. Then she comes up with strategies on how to help him make the sounds necessary to say the words he struggles with. With all therapies consistency is key. Elle is invested in my son, she cares and it shows. My son loves her and is always excited to see her. She motivates him, cares about him and always asks about his day and most importantly works incredibly hard to find the right methods to help his speech. My son started off 3 years ago with very little language and now, well he's talking all the time. Giving him the gift of language, communication has helped in all aspects of his life, especially behaviors. Before he was unable to tell us what he wanted and became frustrated and angry. Now he can verbalize his wants and needs and let me tell you, it's changed his world. Elle has helped give my son the gift of words and we are forever grateful for her. This is a really late review. My son has been coming here since 2020. He comes here once a week for speech and once a week for occupational therapy. I want to express my gratitude, appreciation and recognition for all these amazing therapists who have made such a wonderful impact on my sons life. Speech Language Pathologist Lauren Hernandez has been our primary SLP since day 1. She is AMAZING period! We both have witnessed my son being completely non verbal from his initial assessment to speaking in sentences now at age 4. I've been waiting for my son to talk and it is the most rewarding feeling in the world to hear his little voice. Lauren has always treated both my son and I with warmness, patience and understanding. There were times my son will have a hard time during session. He will not transition from activities/ play/ tasks very well and she is always so great with him. She really loves what she does and I highly recommend her. During our time at Maxum my son has also seen Ms Stephanie and Ms Jessica and they are both so sweet and my son couldn't be in better hands than Maxum for Speech. I also want to mention his awesome Occupational Therapists Ms.Brianna, Ms. Amber and Ms Cynthia. We have been very blessed with such a great team of specialists to work with. I've read a few of the not so great reviews regarding scheduling issues and front office staff and I have to chime in here as well. I've never had any negative experiences with the front office staff. They all do their job very well and have been very friendly and helpful whenever I've needed something such as an authorization status or change of schedule. I have had no problem requesting the therapist I've asked for. I also book all appointments a month out to keep things consistent. I can only speak from my experience however I've never had a serious issue that I wasn't able to talk through and resolve with the staff. I know as parents with kiddos with special needs the line between being a Mom/Dad and their therapist at home becomes overlapped. We have to educate ourselves on what our kids needs are and what works for them to continue working with them at home and it can be very overwhelming at times. I choose to sit in with my son for all his therapy sessions so I can see and learn what his Therapists are doing so I can keep doing the same thing to help him at home. A lot of these sessions are for parent education as well as for our kids. That is why I truly am grateful for all the therapist that work with my son because I don't know what I would do without them. They have made such a huge impact on his life and he's made so much progress. His future is unlimited! read more

I have been receiving treatment from MaXum Therapy three days a week since August 2011. I am still currently a patient. I am being treated for multiple issues. I was referred to MaXum not only to address my pain and mobility issues, but to increase strength and endurance in preparation for my fourth knee surgery (October 2011). I am now doing unbelievably better. My life is not even the same as it was last August. When people who have not seen me in while see me now, they are stunned and overwhelmed with my improvement. All of the therapists have been wonderful. I tend to work with the same two to three therapists throughout the week. They are very attentive, making sure to not only have a thorough history, but they also touch base on how I am feeling at the beginning of each session. They also communicate with each other so there is always continuity of care. The therapists are extremely hands on. I receive one-on-one attention at each session. There is also directed exercise which is always supervised by a dedicated tech assistant. They not only help set-up the equipment, but offer physical support when necessary, as well as encouragement and distraction when appropriate. They also are able to leave notes about the session so that your therapist will be able to address any issues or needs on your next visit. I have been participating in directed pool physical therapy at a local YMCA since August 2011. Pool is available up to twice a week (depending on insurance authorization) on Monday and Wednesdays at noon and lasts around 45 minutes. These sessions are kept small, and you are always being supervised and having your exercises modified as necessary by the therapist. The therapist always brings a lot of positive energy and keeps the sessions upbeat and fun. The therapist is constantly reminding the patients to speak up if they are in pain or in any way uncomfortable. The pool facility is nice and was just remodeled this past winter. I cannot recommend MaXum more highly. I have been participating in physical therapy off and on since I was fourteen (I am now thirty-two), and this is without doubt the best clinic I have worked with. The treating staff is incredible, but even the office staff deserves recognition. The office staff is always willing to let me schedule out a month in advance. This is important because I cannot drive and need to arrange rides. When it comes to working with my insurance, MaXum has handled everything for me. I have an HMO that requires frequent re-authorizations, and the staff handles it without ever having to involve me. They stay on top of that authorization process so I have not had to sit out visits because there were no more authorized sessions left. Everyone knows my name and always say hello whether in the office or on the clinic floor. Another benefit is the ability to socialize, whether it is just with the staff or with other patients. When I first started treatment, I was barely mobile. I only left my home for doctor's appointments, was unable to drive, and could barely get to the car even with my cane or crutches. Physical therapy was the highlight of my days because I was able to interact with fun and caring people as well as meet other patients and have some time with people who were more understanding of my health situation. Even though I am doing so much better now, my appointments at MaXum are still the highlights of my days. When I do get frustrated or down with my situation, I always feel better once I start my session at MaXum, and I leave in a better mood and re-energized to continue working towards improvement. read more

Gotta give it up, for sure 5 stars from me. They have helped so so much with my Grandsons speech and it has helped him with his patients. This is the 3rd school, theropy place he has attended and the first 2 were good also considered them 5 stars but here they deserve more than 5 stars. This review is based on the waiting room in pediatrics. The rug is always filthy. Nebver once have I seen it clean even on a 9am Saturday appointment. Smashed crackers and other food always covering it. I think there need to be a no food rule for the room with the tv. Maybe out in the hall on the tile only. I also think there should be a rule for no playing loud devices on the room with the tv. Rude parents had there child a iphone on youtube full blast and parents do that themselves too. If you want to do that, it should be out of the building or use headphones. When people are doing that, then they all start yellimg over each other. It is unpleasant even more so for children with ASD. Something else I also witness a lot is people using the waiting room as a space for them to do ABA for a couple of hours. Spread out on half the floor space are games, token chart, note pads. This is not an appropriate space when familys need the space to wait on their loved ones receiving services. Parents of clients treat this place with little to no respect. The office needs to place some rules for the waiting room and maybe start discharging the parents who dont have respect for the office. There is a line of people who would love to be here and wouldnt treat it like romper room or utilize the time as a loud hang out and let their other children go wild. Therapists and scheduling are 5 star but something serious needs to be done when it comes to this waiting room! Also parents having speaker phone conversations and takimg video/ photo in waiting room. Seems like a violation of privacy. This is not outside in public. Hipa maybe? I dont know. Either way my kids are receiving services and it seems highly inappropriate. read more
