The absolute worst place to get ANY service offered. About 1 year ago I went in for a simple alignment. After take an extremely long time (6 hlurs) they said I needed a bolt kit and it would be $200. I got a second opinion by a dealership a d was told they had no reason to replace anything for an alignment or any other bolts on the truck. Here I am 1 year later getting an alignment done. I set an appointment and it has now been 2 hours after the appointment and my truck has not moved from the parking lot. I was never told it was going to be delayed or for how long. I did hear that a Maseratti was going to be coming in on a 4 o'clock appointment and it was HAPPILY moved directly into the bay while my truck STILL sits waiting. This has now become a trend of rmterribel customer service and talking to others, is par for the course. read more

I called to ask about replacing the radiator on my GMC Sierra. They gave a very fair price and ordered the parts. About two hours later, I drove there and was told it would be about two hours. While it was being worked on, Darrel asked me to look at the work. He asked if I wanted to replace the thermostat since I had also requested replacing the upper and lower hoses. We then saw the water pump was the original with 220,000 miles, so I told them to replace it also. He ordered a larger capacity radiator with a lifetime warranty and I drove away after about 3 hours total. I have had other work done here and my oils changes with the fifth change free. I took my Chevy 2500 in for an alignment. They claimed the outer control arm bearing and out tie rods were in need of change. Upon changing them they realized they didn't correct the problem and started listing other items to change. They didn't properly secure the abs speed sensor which wore out then act as it wasn't their fault and they were doing me a favor correcting. I watched them continue to upsell anything they could think of to a single mom until they took all money she said she had budgeted. Very shady. They don't return calls read more

I like the efficiency and speed which they get to their customers. The 4th oil change is Free. If you ask for Gerald, he shoots you straight. In all honesty, I haven't had any brakes or alignment work done, so I can't comment on that. read more

Took my 2017 Tacoma in to get an oil change and was met with a rude comment by the front desk person. I didn't catch his name but he was a middle aged black man who scolded me for having over 50k miles on my truck! To which I informed him that I am an avid snowboarder and go to Colorado multiple times in the winter (all hwy miles, which is why I always buy a Toyota!).... He continued to scold me on the wear I'm putting on my truck! (I lived in Alaska! I know what wear looks/feels/sounds like!) I finally told him I didn't come in for his two cents and left. I've never gone back.... recently went to the brake check in Killeen, and the manager overheard me telling the story of the NB branch, to which he wanted a description of the man who gave me a hard time... turns out he was the manager of the whole southern region and said he would handle it. Not sure what came of it, but I would avoid the NB branch at ALL costs!! I've never had a good experience there read more

I took my car to Brake Check at 2664 Loop 337 New Braunfels TX 78132. I sure wish that I had read reviews before doing so. My breaks were squishy/ soft so I parked and went inside. I was not even asked to be helped for a good 10 minutes. I explained to Gerald (the GM) what was going on. He said no problem they would take a look. About 45 min. later they finally came to get my key. I sat for another hour and when another worker walked in I asked what was going on with my car. He ran through a laundry list of things and said they were calling in for quotes. My car is an older vehicle, 1996 but I was not prepared for all of the issues the employee listed. I thought, no way is all of that ($1000's worth of work) what caused my breaks to suddenly be soft. Another 30 min. later Gerald called me out to say its not that bad I needed new front break pads, the break line bleed and flushed and that my rotors still had a lip so they just needed to be cleaned ($30 per side). He seemed sincere and said if I could wait that he could get me out with a safe vehicle that evening. I agreed to wait. In the mean time a woman that had her Jeep in and had left about 30 min before came back in with her car up on a tow truck. After sitting in the waiting room with her she let me know that she had left and was driving on 306 when her front tire FELL OFF! The employee working on her car failed to tighten her lug nuts! This did not give me a good feeling about my car or the employees. I ended up paying $221 for the work we discussed and after being there for 4 and half hours drove home. That was on a Saturday and I did not drive may car the following day. Monday when I was driving home from work I noticed my breaks were soft again and had to use my emergency break to fully stop. Called Break Check back and got an 8 AM apt to have them take another look. When they called with an estimate I was told that I needed a new master cylinder and a new one would be roughly $530 for the part or around $400 refurbished and they would need to flush and bleed the break line (which they already did) and we could work something out on pricing for that. I spoke to a friend who knows cars who said a master cylinder at auto zone run around $75- 100. I received a quote from another break specialist here in NB that quoted me $250 for parts and labor. Being that my car is an older vehicle there was no way I was putting another $500+ into it when I already paid Break Check over 200 to not even fix the problem. Reading reviews it looks as though the fully take advantage of females, so beware! I picked up my car ASAP to take it anywhere but back there. Ill be making sure that the work I paid for was done correctly when apparently it wasn't the problem to begin with. Are there any trustworthy mechanics anymore? Gerald the GM even mentioned he wouldn't be in the business if he didn't make 6 figures... Saw in another review he tends to brag about his salary. horrible, I had my wife take our truck in to have an oil change, these guys played the uninformed woman game. They tried to do a couple thousand dollars worth of unneeded repairs. They aligned the truck on the last oil change and boom, 4 months and 70 bucks later it needs it again? I checked out the other items they said the truck needed, not even. They want to change good parts to pad their pockets. read more

The people here are very pleasant. After two visits in the last month, however, my brakes sound worse than ever. The failed work they did on the second visit wasn't even free--even though they were simply replacing the parts that they had wrongly installed on the first visit! Will never go back! After an oil change the filter cap was not replaced properly and all the oil leaked out of the vehicle causing the car to shake and make a strange sound. Once the problem was resolved I never received a single apology and am still waiting for my refund. Choose another place!!! read more

This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a mechanic. One gentleman kept calling me sweetie and would spit tobacco while he was talking to me. Then general manager admitted that he did not properly diagnose my vehicle, and then they tried to charge me $400 for something I had to go somewhere else to have fixed. I took my car to Brake Check and spent $890.16 for front pads and discs and rear shoes replaced, rotor and drum refaced, and other associated equipment. Two and a half years later, but less that 2,000 miles as I prepared for a trip to Dallas, I thought I heard something fall off the back of my car, but when I checked, I couldn't see anything. I drove to Dallas and as I came into town, I heard more noises from the rear and I could tell the brakes were not acting right. I headed for a repair shop I knew where I could almost coast in without stopping. They replaced the rear brake shoes, drum, etc. and said one part was put in backwards. The cost to me was $455.55. I took my bill to Brake Check seeking an adjustment and was told that, since I didn't go to a Brake Check in Dallas, they would do nothing. I told them I did not know where a Brake Check was in Dallas and, since I was on the freeway and afraid of using the brakes, I went to a shop I could get to with no stops. They didn't care. No adjustment. Never again!! read more

Horrible!!! Spent $371.69 the first time to have all pads replaced, bleed the system, turn all rotors. Went back two weeks later for squeeking brakes, spent another 100 bucks to replace the hardware which should have been cleaned and greased the first time, since I didnt "purchase" them the first time go figure.Spent 91 bucks on parts the first time and over 200 on labor which took almost 3 hrs. Spent 82 on labor, the second time to the pads being under warranty.GOT ripped off, Dont take your vehicle here to get brakes. You better off buying the parts at autozone and doing it your self, which I should have done in the first place. I know have squeeky breaks again so here I go to autozone. read more

Short answer...during their "courtesy inspection" of our brakes on our Lexus they left parts off. During a subsequent service at Christian brothers, they found and reported to us the retainer springs in the rear brakes were missing. We would have never known. Brake check will not touch our car again..its really crappy that you specialize in one area and suck at it. I reviewed our bill from brake check..and on their documentation the show an inspection of the rear brakes...no problems found, but they recommended they sell us new ones. read more

My wife brought her 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 Longhorn in for an oil change. When she handed the tech her keys the A/C worked. After the oil change was done she got in the truck and the A/C was just blowing hot air. Not thinking it could have been damaged by a simple oil change, my wife call for an appointment at Christian Brothers. They could get her in until after the Memorial Day Holiday. The truck was already scheduled that Tuesday to get new shocks at another automotive shop. I asked if they could check out the A/C. They found that the wiring harness to the Compressor had it's wire pulled out. This harness was locate within inches of the oil filter. Break Check would not take responsibility for the damage. I was even willing to let them repair it themselves. I was forced to bring the truck to BlueBonnet Motors. They found that the new harness that Break Check put was not installed properly. The total cost was $420. I called Break Check with the total and looks like I will be forced to take them to court. I will be adding the court costs and loss wages. We will not be bringing any of our cars back to Break Check. If anybody ask me for a recommendation it will not be Break Check! BEWARE! read more

I go here for all of my oil changes and the staff is always very nice and super efficient. I never feel like they try to oversell me, but they always inform me if my car needs something. The waiting area is always clean and I really like that every 4th oil change is free. I will continue coming here. read more

I was referred here by the other break check in new braunfels who not only knew the new store (which isnt on google maps yet) but also knew the restaurants in a area. Mr Juan Forero and his team had me in an out in an hour for an alignment and balance and explained to me all the serivce that was done to my car and what would be needed soon. read more

Ive had my front breaks done here and the manager plus the mechanic who worked on my vehicle were great. First time they show me exactly what they were doing to it before and after the only gripe was the pricing to damn expensive for the parts and labor. You cant beat the oil change though get 3 and 1 is free true that ill keep coming for them finding a mechanic to do my breaks hope this helped... read more

I was given excellent service and will not go anywhere else to repair my cars in the future. I had my brake pads replaced/ Caliper service/ Rotor refaced/ alignment etc..and they took the time to show and explain to me what the noise was under my hood...ac clutch is going out. These guys are outstanding, I take three vehicles to them and never have had an issue. They have stayed late time and again when my old dodge truck breaks down on Sunday's to get her fixed for Monday morning. Nice customer service, yet bill only grew and problem not solved. Pricing too expensive after doing research after paying.

I brought two cars within just a months time to these guys thinking they knew how to fix brakes. Car 1 had front and rears done. The rear had drums and discs on the front. Within about 4-5 months the car was vibrating so bad when you applied the brakes I brought it back only to be told the rears were not engaging. "But you installed them" I said but was told I should have the brakes checked every oil change and now the front rotors were warped because they were doing all the braking. Another repair bill. About 6 months later the car is vibrating again...really bad. So I bring it back a 3rd time and was told the front rotors need replacing. This time I tell them no thanks I'm done throwing money at you guys. Car 2 had all 4 discs worked on. About 2-3 months later a bad vibration when braking. Brought it back and was told debris had gotten into the boot and ruined the rotor. "But you reinstalled that boot, how did it happen that I could drive the car for 3 years and not have this problem?". Another repair bill. 5 months later the car is vibrating again when you brake. Not going back. "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me". My recommendation: don't give these guys your business they don't stand by their work. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! My brakes were pulsating so I mistakenly decided to pull into the closest place I could find. As soon as I pulled into the shop they asked me what was wrong so I told them my brakes were pulsating. Immediately the employee told me I needed my rotors resurfaced ( without even looking at them) two hours passed and they told me they had one more rotor left to finish. I look into the garage and see 5 men pulling and shaking my car , then one man taking a huge hammer to the underneath of my 2011 car. 30 mins later one of the employees came out to get me and held up a broken piece . He said that new cars are made of aluminum and that this couldn't possibly be my fault. They told me they would have to order the part from the dealership and that this couldn't be done till Monday ( it was Saturday so te dealership wouldn't be open till Monday). That being said , I had a friend come get me . Being new to the area I was lucky I had someone to come get me because I know nobody in the area yet! After thinking for awhile , I decided that I no longer wanted brake check doing any more work on my vehicle so I called brake check and asked them kindly to put my car in the parking lot because I wanted AAA to tow it to a Hyundai dealership where I could trust the certified technicians. I had to argue with them to put my car outside. They said they would not release MY car that they messed up, until they had a fork of payment . After a long period of arguing , they finally released my car and "called it even" ( because they knew they were in trouble and did something wrong!) on Monday , Hyundai called and said that they could not find the missing piece or what was broken , after a few hours they called back and said they finally found it! Brake check had broken off my right rear knuckle assembly. This piece would cost me 550.00 plus 200.00 labor! On top of that, they said my rotors were resurfaced completely wrong and the entire underneath of my car was dented from the banging! they were so kind as to take pictures for proof and sent them to me! Red mccomvs hyundai is great!!I called customer service to speak with someone higher than the employees at the NB brake check who said they could not get us in touch with the district manager . Customer service got us In touch with the store manager , who after some strong arguments agreed to pay for the part but not the labor . He said that he would be willing to buy the part from Hyundai and take my car to the nearest brake check by Hyundai to install it . Why in the world would I want technicians from brake check working on my car again!? Doesn't that sound a bit ridiculous ?? Next , I decided I needed to speak with someone higher, so we did and he said they would pay for the part and give me a 50 dollar gift card to brake check. By would I want money for a shop that destroyed my car and left me carless for a week! Getting in touch with the brake check managers was like pulling teeth! They wanted to go out to Hyundai in SA to look at my car before they decided anything , so this pushed me back days! It is now a week later ( Saturday) and I still have no car. I'm going to take further action since talking to the managers at brake check clearly has not gotten me what I think I deserve!! Bottom line, DON'T GO TO BRAKE CHECK!!! read more
