Find it hard to be giving this level of unsatisfactory service but on reading I think you will completely agree. I took my '06 Ford F150 in for service after receiving 171/174 OBD codes. Was advised that the intake manifold was defective. On 3/21 I inquired as to status and subsequently was advised that PCM was bad as it was not communicating with throttle body. On 3/24 I again inquired as to status. After confirming that they were not replacing PCM, knowing what that would have cost if replaced by them, I was informed "No sir that's not a repair we cannot do...". I picked up truck on 3/24 and drove home with the engine running extremely rough. I texted "I got a P0201 driving home, fuel injector circuit cyl 1, is that a PCM problem?" Kenny texted back "Yes it is the ECM doing that." Based on being informed, I ordered a replacement PCM. There were problems with the replacement PCM and had to return. Because I had been advised that engine missing was caused by PCM, I rented a truck for $110 to take a client article to Austin. After using truck in an attempt to make a short trip to Lowes, I was barely able to get back home with the PCM throwing constant 201's. I decided that maybe I should just check the cylinder 1 injector connection. Must to my SHOCK the connector was not attached to the injector which obviously can be a 201 code. I replaced connector with a new $1.50 one and started engine, with the same PCM that was in truck when I took it to Clark and the same that it now has and the engine started like a perfect running engine, no missing, no codes, just running as you would expect. I drove the truck about 30 miles and there were no codes just a regular running engine. To be fair to Clark I personally went by to advise what I had discovered was the true problem, NOT BAD PCM AS ADVISED. It was like a deer in the headlights, with simply a stare and no professional response, no apology, simply a "What do you want us to do?" I stated that I would leave that up to them as I felt it was their responsibility to provide an such. After shuffling with the keyboard, I finally got tired of waiting out the silence, and left, stating you can call me with your result. TO DATE I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY SORT OF COMMUNICATION, APOLOGY, ACCOMODATION OF ANY KIND. The unneeded PCM cost me $342, truck rental $110.00, UPS freight to return unneeded PCM to seller to be reprogramed $80, so I am paying $532 for their incompetence and simply failing to proper diagnosis the problem which even I on reflection knew that if the PCM was defective/not communicating it would be doing more than throwing a single cylinder. The PCM replacement co. will not refund payment because they have programed it, made keys, and basically being a company located in NY that adopts the usual policy you purchased it its yours. read more

Stopped by with a issue with my car. Left it for a couple hours. They came up with a diagnosis and said they would not fix it. Still charged over $100 dollars for the diagnosis, all of which I was already aware of. I suppose it was really beyond their experience level. read more

I brought the vehicle in for an electrical diagnosis $225.00 later , they told me to take it to the dealer. Wow! Never have I gone to this humiliating experience . I felt ripped off . How can they say the diagnosis took 2 hours and take it to a dealer . As matter of courtesy if they could not fix it they should have charged half price and tell me there is a fuse box /block concern. It was a 2006 Lexus. absolute crooks! "Replaced" the fuel pump on my Explorer, notice quotation marks around replaced, because they didn't! Car stopped n exit for 1604 in the middle of the cloverleaf and I had it towed back to them. They fiddled with it for 2 years before I demanded it back. All the dials were issuing off the dash, the battery was stolen, the sunroof left open so rain got into my leather seats and the interior was filled with leaves.So I paid double at $500+ per fuel pump, which should have been warranted to begin with. All he replaced each time was the filter. It went out again within 3 months so I had a guy working for me drip the fuel rank where the filter was located, and he said the original paint was still on the nuts!!! CLARKs HAD NEVER REPLACED THE FILTER!! THEY WERE SCAMMING ME!! So it was bad enough they lied about the repairs, trashed my car by stealing all the parts off of it, then they hung up on me when I demanded a refund! They were awful to deal with. They only gave me the car back when I forced them to with threats of a lawsuit. AWFUL PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH!! Stay away! No honor in this company. Just scammers and users. read more

Absolutely terrible service. They took my car to install two O2 sensors and told me it would take a day to complete which is crazy enough because its something that could be done within 12-14 hours, and now they are charging me another $150 for another day of working on installing these things and I know they don't need that much time. I already bought the parts for them! I don't know how some mechanics can live with themselves knowing they are screwing some people over. read more

I went in for a diagnostic on my vehicle that had a few minor problems. I was quoted over $700 to repair a hose and waterpump! I went to another mechanic and was told that my water pump was fine, but the hose was indeed damaged. I replaced the hose for $6 at O'reilly's and no more leak. A couple of weeks ago I would have given 5 stars to Clark's. But, I took a car in recently and Mechanic X (we'll call him) told me my car needed the transmission fluid replaced, "it's brown" he said, and the coolant replaced, "it's cloudy." I guess what he didn't know was that I'd just had those two services done less than 1000 miles ago at a quick lube place. So, he was flat out lying to me to the tune of a couple of hundred dollars. Last year he convinced me that I needed a costly repair (over $900). I had him do the repair and it didn't fix anything. I took it back and it turns out the problem was simply a brake disk that needed turning. His business partner did the brake disk service for no cost in the end. But the fact that Mechanic X sold me a bill of goods I didn't need once, plus this recent dishonest "up sale" has me looking for another mechanic now. Fool me once, shame on you. I took my Audi that has over 200,000 miles in for what I thought was a bad rear bearing or brake problem due to the metal on metal grinding noise, especially when braking to a stop. They could have changed the bearing and put new brake pads and charged me big money, but they didn't. Actually the noise was caused by a plastic part of the rear interior part of the fender falling off and rubbing against the wheel. All fixed for less than $100.00. I find that is a very honest way to do business. read more

I checked with a couple of other auto shops before going with Clark's. The other two shops did not satisfactorily answer my questions concerning my AC that had gone out. I have done much of my own auto work for years, so I want clear, competent answers from a shop before I will trust them to work on my car. Chris listened, gave me clear, concise answers, and then gave me a very competitive quote for fixing my AC. Clark's came in under the estimate, both cost-wise and time-wise. Firstly I have a 2004 Chevy truck. After towing to Valmark in town for them to tell me they don't work on anything that old. Sounds like a shady gm dealer to me. I brought my truck to Clark's with a problem I couldn't fix. I'm usually really good with cars. They knew right away what the problem was. Bad gas due to a bad o ring. With unavailable parts they made something work. Well... First rain following my gas tank was full of water again. I called them. They got it right in and fixed it under warranty, along with a few things I didn't even ask about. Slightly disappointed the first time, not as bad as I was with my local GM dealer. But I'm a understanding person. Sometimes you have to make things work. While doing this, it doesn't always go as planned. One thing that bothered me was they were not so good answering the phone as they may have been in the shop doing double duties? It's been about 4 months since my visit there and everything is perfect. I give 5 stars and recommend 100 percent. And a special thanks to the top notch Tech who fixed my truck. read more

I was suckered into 2 Fuel Pumps for my Explorer from these frauds for $600 each. The second time i had to have the car towed to them, and went to buy a truck. i told Mr. Clark I was not in a big hurry to have the car fixed as I had a lot going on. Then it dawned on me. Why 2 fuel pumps in 3 years? Heck, those things are supposed to last at least 100,000 miles! On top of that, I had this done in Houston a few years before this, as my brother reminded me. So they kept my car for over a year, despite my calls. When I got it back, the light switch was ripped from the dash, the battery had been removed and put into someone else's car, they left the sunroof open and it rained into the interior, and they shorted something out, as all the lightbulbs had to be replaced, and nothing worked on the ash. no radio, lights, nothing. Mr. Clark told me I had mis-charged the battery, reversing the polarity. Well, seems it was his grandson or someone on his end, because I have been repairing cars and dealing with batteries all my life so I know how to charge one, and how to install one. Several months after I got it back and got all the things fixed on it that were broken at Clarks, the fuel pump failed again, and Mr. Clark refused to honor his repairs. I had a guy who worked for me from Iowa, who used to own his own shop up there, and grew up on a farm working on the tractors and cars they used. He said he would do the fuel pump change out. I bought the new pump, and when he got under the car, he yelled a curse word, and came storming out from under it. He said the nuts on the gas tank had their original paint still on them! Clark is a fraud! He never replaced one fuel pump much less 2, and neither did anyone else. Shows you men still rip off women, especially in New Braunfels! I called up and demanded my money back, and all Mrs. Clark would do is hang up on me. When I confronted Mr. Clark in person with my new employee in tow as a witness, he started yelling that I had an old piece of junk, when just a few months before he said it was a great car and would be on the road a long time. Well, guess what? It's still on the road and running great. It is a '92 and has over 200,000 miles on it. The Ac is good and all it needs is tires and oil. Moral of the story: If you are a woman, Clarks will charge you for work they don't do. They will not warranty it, and they will get belligerent when they are caught defrauding you. read more
