WE had our car taken into Brakemasters in Sierra Vista to have the radiator flushed, and nothing else wrong with the car except the rear brakes were at 3/32, which I had plans to replace in the near future. We left Brakemasters with a Power steering Rack both leaking and the power steering pump making noises from going through fluid so fast. That was no accident. We left there with a diagnosis that did not exist prior to going there. Evidenced by the lack of power steering fluid on our garage floor to not there are 5 little puddles every day. You can be the best mechanics, but if you or your practices are fundamentally dishonest. You are broken. P.S. From a ASE Certified mechanic, with A&P experience that works too much at my day job to deal with dishonest snakes.. I'll pay some with integrity to do the alignment after I fix it right.. read more

Used to be the best place in town for pretty much everything. Now it's easily the worst. On January 11, 2019 I went to Brake Masters ("BM") in Sierra Vista for an oil change. I've gone here for years and until January 11, it was the most honest, and by far the best, shop around. On January 11, the mechanic who did my oil change left off a hose on my Prius, like someone at this BM had done 2 oil changes ago and I had to take my car into a mechanic in Tucson because I was afraid something was super wrong. I had a warning light and the car would die and run rough. The mechanic I went to in mid-2018 showed me the hose BM had left off. When I came in for the next oil change, I told the manager what had happened and he was very kind about it and said he'd let the guys know. Anyway: Jan 11. Again the hose got left off. I could tell as I drove away because the same warning light was on and the car was running super raggedly again. I couldn't go back as I had a work appointment and then when I got done it was after 6, so BM was closed. The next day, I think, I went back in, and I told the NEW manager what happened. They spent over two hours on my car; I saw them sneak it out and drive it around without asking me, and eventually I went to ask them when it would be done. I had my son and little dog and had to get home and then to work. An odd thing was that during those two hours, the manager told *every single customer* that they had something wrong with their car, and that it was going to cost 200$+ to fix it. One woman argued after the manager told her they (BM) had to remove her tire and bumper to replace her hazard light (riiiight!), which would cost her an extra $200. She showed them a video she had watched earlier in the day that showed it was easy to do, and the manager backed down. I was appalled. Anyway: so I went outside and asked when the car would be fixed. I had to go take my son and dog home and go to work. The mechanic told me it wasnt a hose; it was some other thing and it would cost me -- guess how much! -- $200 to fix. I said, "no. you're wrong. and I want my keys back. I'll take it someplace else." he argued with me. I said, "No. and when I get it fixed, I'm gonna send you the bill." The new manager came out and yelled, "we Aren't paying for anything!" I said, "yes, you will. I will send the bill after I get this fixed. this is the exact same thing you guys did two times ago." After that he ignored me for a while. I said, "I want my keys so I can leave." the manager told the mechanic to take my keys into the office and not let me have them until I signed something. I said I won't sign anything and to give me my keys. They mechanic took my keys into the office and refused to give them to me. I began recording a video -- I was furious. They refused to allow me to have my keys -- they put them away so I couldnt have them -- refused to allow me to leave, so I stepped out and I called 911. I went back inside and tried again to get my keys. I demanded my keys from the manager; he refused to give them to me. The police came and made them give me the keys. I left and I will never, ever return to this or any of this chain. That shop is a ripoff and the manager is a horrifying jerk who belongs in jail. I want people to know that this shop -- which used to be the best in town -- is now a total ripoff store with a deplorable, disgusting, ripoff manager. And yeah -- I contacted corporate. The guy who called me said, "Oh there's two sides to everything," and said that this manager is a "really good guy." Really? I am sure every jerk has good moments, but this guy acted like an abuser and I HAVE VIDEO which I shared. So apparently the best thing to do is to tell everyone and let THEM decide if this is someplace they want their family going. read more

About a year ago, a heater core on my 1991 Lazy Daze RV blew out. Brake Masters was the only place in SV that could work on it right away. This was a tough job, very hard to get at under the dashboard. They fixed it fast at a fair price. Which got them repeat business. These days, I like to buy older cars for less than $5,000, fix them up for less than $2,000, and drive them for years. Most recently, Brake Masters resuscitated my 1997 Chrysler Sebring LXi convertible -- new shocks/springs, new battery, and they fixed a cooling fan speed control. It drives like a new car... the new shocks make a huge, huge difference... and today I had them recharge the air conditioning... hot summer here in southern Arizona! Then, I brought in my 2013 Ford Transit Connect van. It is aging now, bought it new years ago, perfect for going offroad on camping trips. Again, new shocks and engine mounts worked a miracle! Brake Masters also put a new battery in my 2008 Pontiac Solstice roadster. All work is guaranteed for a year at all Brake Masters locations. They are honest and their prices are more than fair. The service reps are friendly, patient, and very helpful. If you are like me, love older cars and really don't want to spend $50,000+ for a new one, check out Brake Masters on Fry Blvd in SV. I had called this place yesterday and talked to "Curtis" for an appointment first thing this morning. I arrived promptly and was the first one in as the door opened. The attendant could not find a work order for me. There were at least seven others on the table for today but none of them showed up. Miffed that I had to tell the morning attendant my name, address, etc all over again, my bad mood quickly dissipated as my vehicle was the first one on the lift. I needed new front rotors and pads. The parts were available. The mechanics also noted I was low on engine coolant and added that as well. I sat in the small lobby and surfed the internet with their free WiFi for customers. That made the time go by faster. Less than 90 minutes later I was $456 poorer but satisfied with the service. I would have paid a lot more at the Ford dealership and gotten horrible service! The garage by then was full of walk-in cars as I drove away. This business is now corporate owned. I had had my other vehicle worked on two years earlier when it was a franchise but the records could not be located in the database. "You can expect better service now that this place is corporate-owned" said the cashier. I will be back. But hopefully not anytime soon. read more

This is the best place to get an oil change in Sierra Vista, especially for their low prices! It's only $29 for a regular oil change; $39 for synthetic blend; and $59 for full synthetic. Compared to Oil Can Henry's, which charges about $20 more. And the manager Justin is full of energy and does a great job. And while you wait, they have free wifi, a Keurig to make free coffee, and clean restrooms. I highly recommend them! read more

Went here for my brake problem on my 99 Accord. They told me I needed a new CV Boot, and rear drums, in addition to of course the oil change that I wanted and I had some concerns about why my brakes weren't acting right. Well, I went there for two separate visits, spent about $650 and they DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM! I sold the car about 4 months later, and the mechanic who inspected it for the buyer put it up on the lift and showed me exactly where they did not replace the parts they charged me for and what was actually wrong with my car, it was a simple $200 fix. I have heard other people tell similar stories. The customer service there is very good at the desk, but I'm not about to get ripped off and treated like I'm an idiot. I can change my own oil if I have tools and do my own brake pad change. Just appalled that they would take advantage of a single mom trying to have a safe vehicle to drive for her kids. I took my wife's car in last week to have new brakes installed and was very skeptical about what they might have to say after inspecting the brake system. Surprisingly they were honest and to the point and at no time tried to push any other services or options on me unlike the snack trolls at Cinemark (Sir! for only $50 more you can upgrade to large brake pads). I dropped her car off at 7am and it was ready to be picked up at 1130. Once I received the bill I noticed the amount was significantly less than what I was quoted. It seems very rare these days to have complete trust and confidence in a mechanic or name brand repair shop but I must say that I do and I would highly recommend Brake Masters to anyone needing brake work. read more

I'm very happy with their service. I went there yesterday to have my brakes looked at. Earlier last year (Apr 2010) my wife brought our Toyota Sienna to them to have basic maintenance performed (i.e. Oil change, checkup, etc...) and she was told that the brakes had about 25% pad left on them. I've also been noticing for about the past 3 weeks that everytime I go to brake I can hear the typical squealing, high-pitch noise breaks make when their pads are close to being completely warn out. I also noticed a lot of brake dust on my front rims. Being concerned, I decided to bring it into Brake Masters to have them check my brakes over. I dropped off my van indicating that I wanted my brakes checked and replaced if necessary. I left and later received a call from Jeff indicating that my brakes were good and he'd have a hard time selling me new brakes since mine still looked fine. I went back to pickup my van thinking maybe he called me back on the wrong vehicle. So when I arrived I talked to Jeff and explained more on what I was hearing and seeing from the front wheels and he said that it's normal brake dust noise that I'm hearing and to just run some water over the brakes to clean out some of the dust. I was totally expecting some sort of fee but Jeff told me it costed nothing. I was very plesantly surprised. I'm not a mechanic, thus the need to bring my vehicle to someone to look it over, so I don't know if I'm getting the wool over my eyes treatment. But at least this guys appeared to be honest and didn't charge me anything since nothing was wrong. The only reason why they didn't get 5 stars is because we were told one thing by one of BM's employees earlier last year and another thing by another employee recently, so this seemed a little shady. Honest and fast service. What more could you want from a mechanic shop? I went there for an oil change and chose the high milage service because I drive between Arizona and Texas all the time. It included a tire rotation, which is a nice plus. They got my car in almost immediately. For a Saturday afternoon, that was a pleasant surprise! The best surprise came when I paid. The price is comparable to anywhere else, but they gave me a punch card - buy three oil changes and the fourth is free. I have never seen that offer before anywhere. Though I have had good experiences at other garages around Sierra Vista, I will be going back to Brake Masters! read more

Took my F150 in for an oil change at Lawley, here in town and was told my brake pads were just barely legal. However, since they wanted over $400 to replace those pads, I decided to shop around. When I took my truck into Brake Masters they showed me that my pads were still good, and didn't charge me a dime even though I went prepared to replace the pads and spend a couple hundred bucks. It's not easy to find a maintenance shop that puts the interest of the customer over profits, and now that I've found one, they are definitely getting all my business. read more

Yikes! Went in for an oil change and alignment. Was told I needed to get my front upper and lower control arms replaced. My car has never been in an accident for me to replace those parts. The bill was going to cost me $1,600. I opted out of the alignment and just did the oil change. I got my car looked at by a different mechanic and turns out I didn't need my control arms replaced. The problem I had ended up being a sway bar link that had to be replaced which only cost me $40. Please get a second opinion and don't rush to agreeing with whatever these guys tell you. I feel that their service was very dishonest and inaccurate. read more

Didn't put the oil filter on right so oil was all over our undercarriage. Use cheap parts. Bad customer service. A few years ago my husband took his car here to get an oil change. The next day we drive to Phoenix and before we made it the check engine light and oil lights were on. Pulled over and the oil was low. Found out later they did not put the new oil filter on right. When I called this SV location and told them I wanted to bring the car in for them to clean the spilt oil off their response was it won't come off... About a month ago my husband took his car here to get an oil change. Engine and oil warnings lights come on. Took it to another mechanic and they had to redo the oil change with a higher quality filter. The filter (from brake master) wasn't even soaked in oil... You would think from the time passed from using this location that it could have been a one time error but I guess not. Bad mechanics? Poor management rushing good mechanics? Not sure, but poor service. Heard of others having issues here also. read more

Went to the shop to have rear brakes done... ended up having to replace a wheel bearing as well, I told him I also needed a oxygen sensor which I had already purchased installed, the manager took care of everything and installed the oxygen sensor no charge, and once I install my lift spacers to get my wheels to stop rubbing he is going to align it again no charge. Honestly the best shop I've been to in Sierra vista, great customer service and do good work in a timely manner. The manager really went above and beyond and I will definitely recommend this shop to any of my friends or family. Great shop !! read more

Overall great for brakes and oil changes but they try HARD to sell you more. Learn to just say no or it will cost you. I took two vehicles there recently. One of them they tried to tell me I needed a new fuel filter. I declined and just stuck with the oil change. Got home and checked under the hood and found that they forgot to put back on my brake fluid cap. My other car they told me I needed new upper and lower ball joints. Parts alone and an alignment would cost over $750. I told them thanks for the info but I just needed an oil change and that's all. They seemed pretty surprised I didn't cave in. I went to my regular mechanic in town for his opinion and he told me I only needed upper ball joints replaced and not the lowers and all in all with parts and labor it would cost $450. They tried to get me for an extra $300. Merry freakin Christmas. Why do I keep going back here???? read more

After the work, I asked the mechanic how often should the synthetic oil change be done done. He said "every 5 month". Later at home, I spotted a oil change sticker put on my windshield as follows: Oil change service, Miles 49509, 08-13-2016 Next oil change, Miles 52509, 11-11-2016 *oil change svc mileage is wrong *next oil change mileage is wrong *next oil change is 3 month(regular)later instead of 5 month(synthetic) I wonder if they put synthetic oil as I requested and paid for. I think they put regular oil and told me they put synthetic oil and charged me for synthetic oil. I will never go to Break Master again. We've been going to Brake Masters in Sierra Vista for all our auto needs for a few years now so it was only natural that we'd bring my 2004 Ford Focus in when its computer went bad. Virtually everything that could go wrong did from the initial diagnostics to people going on vacation to the repair shop in Florida (long story) reporting that they fixed the system...but it only being an 'intermittent' fix (read it works sometimes but not others). In all it took nearly a month to fix. So why 5 stars? Despite all the problems, Jeff, one of the leads at Brake Masters, went out of his way to take care of us, paying for a rental when the job took much longer than planned, applying virtually every discount possible for a pricey repair part, keeping us informed and ensuring that we did not pay for the poor service of the out of town supplier/repair shop. No garage is perfect and plenty of mistakes took place during this adventure...but Jeff went above and beyond to make things right. We'll continue to go there as long as he remains part of the Brake Masters team. read more

Highly recommend this shop. While in town for some training, I had them do an oil change and assess the brakes while it was up on the rack. They gave me an honest shot on how much wear the brakes had and took the time to explain and physically show me what was causing the pulsating feel in the brake pedal. There was no pressure to get any brake work done and I was told there was no safety concerns with my pads or rotors at this point, it was simply a matter of whether I wanted to get rid of the annoyance of the pulsating pedal. I opted out. And beyond the awesome transparency, I was having a really frustrating and mysterious issue with my trunk latch and hinge that was preventing my entire vehicle from locking securely with the key-less remote. Two of these guys teamed up and trouble shot it for 25 + minutes (crawl into the trunk through the back seat/trunk w/ flashlights and tools) and after much effort they had it functioning like normal again. They saved me a dreaded trip to a BMW dealer in Tucson and several hundred bucks. I couldn't thank them enough and they didn't charge me for anything more than the oil change. Ask for Dan. Great bunch of guys. Restored my faith in America. I'll be back. read more

Brake masters is one of the worst automotive repair centers in sierra vista, they sell you parts and services that you don't need and then use a hammer to pound them into place to repair what they've damaged. Dont take your car there for service because you will end up having it repaired somewhere else to make sure you don't end up dead or in an accident from faulty workman ship. Absolutely despicable. I will never recommend brake masters to anyone ever even if they were the only repair shop. read more

If there were no stars on this review I would choose that. Went to this Brake Masters in Sierra Vista, AZ on 8 November 2014 for a coolant flush, transmission flush, and oil change. Paid $210 and some change with a coupon. Decided to crawl under my truck when I got home and check all the fluids. Found dirty oil, the old filter still on, old radiator fluid. The trans looked clean but who knows what they did at this point. Called the manager Jeff and he said bring it back lady and I will put it on the rack and show you. I told him I don't need it on a rack the fluid is dirty and the old filter is still on the truck, I crawled under it, and if you want we can discuss it in front of customers. He called back 5 minutes later and said, oh I am sorry we didn't do the services. Really, all single ladies and the elderly beware of this place and or make sure you watch them and check up after them. If I hadn't crawled under my vehicle and checked the fluids they would have scammed me big time. read more
