This place is without a doubt a scam, that prays on the people that don't know better. I went there for an estimate and they told me I needed 4 rotors and all new pads. I know how to change both of these but hadn't looked myself yet. The quote was for just over $1200 which is insane. I went to Auto Zone and paid $200 for rotors and breaks that are good quality. Changing them took me 2 hours and the best part is I only really needed back breaks and 1 rotor, yes they lied, shocker. I know a lot of people can't do them, but avoid these blood suckers and keep in mind how much the parts really cost.

I pulled in and Mike and his team took care of my car and went the extra mile to get the parts that were not in stock.

When your car has a transmission problem and near Longmont CO, go to Zach's. DON'T GO ANYWHERE…read moreincluding your dealer! Here's my story: My Honda Accord had a transmission leak and I was referred to AAMCO Transmission. After they found the leak and guaranteed the fix, it turned out it's not fixed after a 10 minutes test drive. I went back a week later. They said somewhere else was leaking and only the dealer could fix it. When I asked about the guarantee and wanted my money back, they refused saying they fixed what they found and this is something else. So I went to Frontier Honda. They said it's caused by several seals. It cost me $369.21. After I went home, I found it's leaking again on the other side of the the car where it wasn't leaking before. It leaked even worse. Then, I went back. They checked and said it's caused by the the washers of Benjo Jolt, which is right under the actual leaking spot and was part of the service at AMMCO. It cost me $69.40 to replace two washers. When I got home, it's still leaking. On the 3rd visit, they sprayed some powder on the case and kept the car running for two hours. Then, came back to me saying that the case has cracks. It's not fixable and needs to be replaced by a new one, which costs around $4500.00. I didn't have them fix it because the cost is as much as the value of the car. Recently, when I was selling my car, I was referred to to Zach's for a free diagnoses. This time, they found the true leak spot. They show it to me and I saw the oil coming out from the top of the the case in between the case gasket. When the oil streams down, it could drip down to anywhere which could easily lead a technician to work on any wrong parts. The case has no cracks and it only needs to replace the gasket in the middle. Shops like AAMCO and Frontier Honda truly know how to deal with you so that you're not their problem any more. They're not responsible for their work. If they run a 10 minutes road test, they would have found the problem was not fixed. BIG REMINDER: Always pay with credit car, if you're not satisfied with the service, call your credit car company to dispute the charge. Even you couldn't get the money back, it will increase the fee for the merchant eventually.

Had an excellent experience with Zach's transmission about 9 months ago, just getting to the review…read morenow. My 2016 F150's transmission quickly went haywire (sticking in one gear, refusing to reset gears until I turned the truck off then back on, this would happen about 3x a week) I took it to Ford where they recommended changing transmission fluid ($800 later) and once that didn't work they said it's ~$9.5k for a new transmission. Took it to another "recommended" shop where they said I needed a new transmission, quoted at ~$8k Refused to believe that was the case Zach's came recommended by another shop I called. Spoke directly with Zach on the phone (he's hilarious), took it into his shop and determined it was a solenoid valve issue with was solved for ~$1.7k, which is immensely better than a new $8-9k transmission. His shop's expertise on transmissions allowed him to identify a specific issue instead of lazily (like other shops did) throwing up hands going "you need a whole new transmission". Even after I picked it up & fully paid, he called me back 2 days later because he was losing sleep that he may/may not have tightened like 1 bolt (I brought I back and we were all good after he took a look) - he has pride in his work and wants to do a quality job. It's been 9months later and my transmission is perfect. I recommend them to everyone I speak to, and won't be going anywhere else for my transmission needs.

There was a problem with the communication surrounding the tow transfer so I started my experience with Hands on Auto Tech with some trepidation. Tom handled the situation and we moved onto the real problem with my truck. The diagnosis was the clutch so I approved the repair and waited a few days for the parts to arrive and the repair to proceed. After the clutch was replaced another problem with the operation of the clutch was discovered so I agreed to the additional repair and another day for repair. After a week I was reunited with my truck. The repair was costly, lengthy and unexpected but coming out the other side of this experience I learned a couple of lessons. 1. If you have your vehicle towed to a shop follow the tow truck to the shop and verify the transfer. 2. Communication and follow up throughout the repair are key Tom was great to deal with and I feel that he was honest with me about the repairs needed and the cost of those repairs. Having recently moved to the area I feel my vehicle maintenance and repair needs can be checked off the list. I can recommend Hands on Auto Tech to anyone needing an honest repair facility and Tom as a good guy to deal with.

BG Automotive? More like "BS" Automotive. The one star is for an oil change (since 0 stars is not…read morean option). BG Auto IS SHADY, smooth talking for sure, but A RIP OFF. STAY AWAY. This is a lengthy description, but it's not half the story. To all the glowing 5 star reviewers - check your invoices. The problem started with their "courtesy inspection" accompanying the oil change, where half of their recommendations (deemed red flag "Requires Immediate Attention") ultimately turned out to be mostly unnecessary and absurdly expensive. That became apparent only after paying. My bad, of course, I obviously should have asked to see a detailed estimate prior to the work. The initial estimate did not provide parts or labor detail & appeared to indicate the work was part of a "complete tune up." Upon dropping off the truck, "Service Advisor"Jesse stated that Champion copper spark plugs had been factory installed on 2013 RAM 2500s, so that was best & what BG would install. Classic BAIT & SWITCH: BG charged $508.48 for a set of 16 plugs! When I challenged the bill, asking if "kryptonite plugs" were installed instead, Jesse indicated, no, the copper plugs were used... then he checked his computer & stated, actually no, in fact the [far] more expensive NKG iridium plugs were installed. "They're much better because they last up to 100,000 miles," he emphasized. I replied, "Great. BG just changed out NGK iridium plugs that had been in the engine already, with only 60,000 miles on them." The WORK WAS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. Also on the bill was a "TOTAL FEES" charge of $175.77 (yes, that specific), but with ZERO DETAIL of what those fees were for or how they were calculated. Jesse couldn't provide that detail either, "It could be shop supplies, or hazardous disposal - you know, those state regulations - it could be almost anything." Note there were no hazardous materials involved with this work, such as a tire or battery disposal fee. (Google search indicates: In Colorado, shop fees are usually calculated as a percentage of the labor cost (e.g., 5-10%) and are often capped at a maximum amount (e.g., $25 to $50). Also, Colorado statute requires the repair invoice to have some kind of description of these fees, and further, "a description of each part by name and identifying number." Nowhere on the invoice was the type of plugs installed specified, either. You get NADA DETAIL from BS Automotive. Finally, while repair shops typically mark up parts 70-100% of wholesale price, BG is marking up parts in the ballpark of 100% of retail price. (If you can pry out of them the parts brand they say they'll use, you can easily verify this with a Google search at their counter.) They should be ashamed and embarrassed for what they're charging the hardworking folks of Longmont. When pressed to justify the charges, Jesse insisted they were competitive, "within 5% of other local repair shops." More BS. Comparing apples to apples (parts & labor only), the local dealership quoted over $200 less, the Loveland repair shop I've frequented in the past was over $400 less (obviously, checked after the fact...). If the handful of other shops Jesse quoted are actually within 5%, they are ripping us off too. Jesse would not budge on the final bill, but he did offer to comp me an oil change. As if! I had already told him I would never set foot in BG Automotive again. However, I would take a call from the BG Automotive (Owner) to provide the rest of the story about this pathetic BG encounter.

Horrible!!! Used…read morethem for possibly 5 yrs servicing 4 different cars. They are good at general mechanics. But complex, No!!! Here are 4 situations that made me see new mechanics: 1.) 8 yrs ago, I overheated the engine and cracked the block on my 1984 Landcruiser. They rebuilt the engine, for about $8,000.00. While in the process, Tim claimed the bottom did not need rebuilding. So they closed up the engine. But I was now burning oil. 2 Qts/ 500 miles. They refused to fix the problem. Tim blamed that I told them to not rebuild the bottom end of the engine. (Ask him about it!) 2.) Just last month, Feb 2026, the catalytic converter on my Landcruiser started to fail. They installed that about 6yrs ago, for about $1,200.00. 3.) 2006 V70,Volvo had a small radiator leak. I brought it in each of the 2 times the Low Level light went on. Each time, they could not find the leak. The 3rd time I brought it in was because the radiator blew and the car overheated. I told them to check that I had not cracked the block before repairing the radiator. They repaired the radiator first., about $1,200.00. Then determined the block was cracked. (Rebuild by Swedish Motors was $6,000.00.) 4.) 2009 S80 Volvo. Had them look at this car to see if it was safe to buy, for my 17yr old daughter. The results of their inspection was "it's in great shape". 1 yr later the transmission went. And I found out that this was the one yr Volvo used a Ford impala transmission. No replacement parts, used or rebuilt transmissions were available, per Swedish Motors. I had to scrap the car. When I confronted Tim and Tyler that they should have known this about this model they said that was something I should have known about the car. NOTE: These guys do not deserve those big stickers on their front window that say Toyota and Volvo. Call me .... Dave Longmont, Co 720-745-9460
