I took my car to Repair Masters Automotive which I give 5 stars for their excellent service, expertise and timeliness. I had a power steering fluid leak and I had taken it to different shop in Longmont a few weeks earlier, but the seemed to be worse than before. for. I believe the man who helped me was named Corey and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. The receptionist had excellent customer service skills. I felt very welcome and respected. I dropped it off at 8 am and they called me around 10. They said the return hose had a significant crack in it. The return hose connects to the steering rack, which has to be detached from steering rack and then re-attached. The previous shop must have rushed through the job. Repair Masters Auto did a thorough expert job and my car is running good as new for 500$. Worth every cent. I have included a picture of the return hose showing where it was cracked Repair Masters printed it out for me. I would highly recommend taking your automobile to Repair Masters Auto in Boulder. Took a bit too long for the last job. What was supposed to be a 2 hours job took them the entire day. Dropped off early in the morning and didn't get the car back until end of day at about 5pm. I do like the shuttle service to nearby areas. I typically have a fun chat with whoever is driving. Even got to ride with the owner one time. I will probably just start doing all of the car maintenance myself. I was already doing 80% of them already. The amount of time wasted waiting and the cost just won't do it any more. read more

Blown away by these guys! If you are looking for honest and helpful car people, this is the place to bring your car to. Was looking for a new shop for the regular oil change as well as getting some pricing for work to be done in the near future. They were very responsive over email and the lady was polite and helpful in scheduling a time for me. They offered a shuttle which was super convenient, and the driver was on time and we had some good conversation. They finished my work order quickly and you can tell they take pride in the work from top to bottom. I even had to add a last minute parts project onto the order and they priced me fair if not better than I should have been quoted with a last minute request. They have a great community vibe and do not want to be those "bad mechanic guys". They destroy any bad situations when it comes to overpricing or wasting your time with extra work, and I have total trust in them when it comes to my little cars maintenance life. This is the first Auto Repair place I have been to where I honestly feel really confident in their service and totally trust everyone there. The owner, Jim Mueller is so nice - he has personally helped me over the phone try to pin point something wrong with my car. Another time, they didn't charge me anything because they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. The last time I took my car in war due to not passing an emissions test. They ended up having to get a part and it cost a ton. Jim Mueller personally called me to tell me about the cost and explain it. Then, he called back saying my car was ready and that they took the liberty of taking it to the emissions testing place and got it tested again. It passed and all the paperwork was in the car and ready to go. Was that OK? I was like...UH. Yes. Great place. read more

Like everyone else here has said, it's great to finally have a mechanic that you trust and does great work. I've been going here to get my Jeep fixed for more than five years and service is always great. Jim tells you how it is. If something isn't completely broken, he'll honestly tell you that you can get by, and there's no pressure to fix it until it completely breaks. And there are countless examples of great customer service from the whole crew at Repair Masters. Earlier this summer, on the Friday before the Fourth of July weekend, we got into a fender bender that pushed parts back into the front tire, obstructing it when turning. Where else could you turn at 4 p.m. on a Friday before the holiday weekend but these guys? We got the Jeep to the shop, and without an appointment, they quickly bent and tied things back into place to make it drivable for our weekend camping trip. They saved our holiday plans at no charge, and wouldn't even accept a tip! :) And through all these years, they've kept the Jeep running great! Can't thank them enough! read more

Everyone always wants an honest and hardworking mechanic. They are so hard to come by, so to go Repair Masters Automotive! I've taken my lemon of a car in to them twice. They are great. They call you after they've looked at the car and walk you through your options very clearly. They answer lots of dumb questions and are super patient about it. I couldn't give 5 stars just based on that, though, because I don't know enough about cars to say that they are very honest and hardworking based on my repairs. Here's how I do know: Last month, my car was hit by a towing company, who then took the responsibility for the repairs. Because they were paying, they used Abra. The experience at Abra was a nightmare, but here's where Repair Masters comes in: Abra was claiming that they were unable to fix an after-market headlight that was broken in the incident and that the towing company was refusing to pay for having it converted back to the standard headlight type. I called RMA to see if they thought they could fix it and Michelle told me that she would have Jim call over and see what the problem was. She also encouraged me to not be bullied into accepting the car without all the repairs made. As a result, I called the towing company who told me that they were not refusing to pay for anything. Abra simply was trying to get out of a complicated repair by feeding me this lie. Jim called over to Abra and told them how to make the repair, which Abra admitted to me. So, even though I was not paying them for the help, RMA is solely responsible for getting me a fully functional car back. They are the best. read more

Bottom Line: I have double checked their honesty and its legit, professional and helpful. Willing to wait on work until its really necessary. There are a few books that can be used to estimate auto repairs. 2 are reasonable and 1 is very high, for fancier cars or places that just want to charge more I guess. Repair Masters uses one of the books with reasonable estimates. My parents have a mechanic back home that they trust and are friends with. I have called them on a couple occasions to double check the suggested repairs and prices and just ask general auto questions. Repair masters checks out as honest, actually honest, not just nice so they seem honest. I have a car that is getting to that point where many things go wrong and Repair masters has a list on file of all the things they have seen on there but have never pressured me to get it fixed right away. They are very upfront about what needs work and what can wait. I appreciate this tremendously. My last visit before moving was to have an inspection on a new car before buying. We were about to buy it from the subaru dealership in boulder that is considered very good. We felt bad taking it to the mechanic but just wanted to be diligent. Jim let me come in same day that I called. Literally a few hours later, and he stayed late to write up the report, which ended up being very long because there were so many parts on the car with issues. Dang. He saved us lots of headache and money in the long run. We did not get the car. He was also very professional and never said it was a lemon, but just affirmed that its condition was on the bad side of what he has seen over many years for a car of that model and age. They also offer inspections for $40 to help you out when it should really be $200 considering the 2 hours of labor. This way you can bring in a few cars as you are auto shopping. These guys are hands down the best mechanics I've ever been to, and I've been to many. Before I moved to Boulder, I had taken my car to many different mechanics for oil changes, repairs, etc.. Most of the time, the mechanic would call with some expensive repair that they claimed needed to be done. But when I found Repair Masters, I found them to be completely honest. They wouldn't suggest some pricey repair unless there was good reason, and even then they would often times lay out the options for me, even when other places or services were the cheaper choice. I am moving away from Boulder, and I only hope that my new mechanic is half as good and trustworthy as these guys. They're awesome!!! read more

So my mother (aka Grandma to the dog and kids) drives a 97 Mercury Sable that seemed to be developing electrical system cancer. This creeping disease involved involved interior lights going on and staying on, or shutting off at random times. Sometimes draining the battery. The worse thing was the alarm system randomly activating to the annoyance of those living in her condo complex. Electrical problems can be hugely problematic and many shops just don't want to deal with them and tell you to take them to a dealer. Well Boulder no longer has a Ford dealer. So I looked on Yelp and found the great reviews for Repair Masters and they took on the job. We were expecting a multi-day ordeal and a big bill for some unobtainable wire harness. Instead these guys diagnosed it quickly and fixed the problem for a $48 buck labor charge. Lubricating the door latches fixed the problem. Fantastic. Highly recommended. Very honest. Came in to get my alternator fixed. Simple repair. After it was completed, I noticed my car was making a strange noise. Took it back to repair masters. They told me it was a problem with my air conditioning unit's bearing. I didn't believe that since it started immediately after getting the new alternator, so I went to a specialist for my make of car and they confirmed that it was indeed a faulty alternator. That analysis cost $50. Took it back to Jim and his team, and they confirmed it was a bad alternator. They fixed it for no cost under warranty, however I was still out an extra $50 and lots of my time (3 trips to their shop and another trip to a different shop... A lot of time for an alternator). I wasn't reimbursed for their mistake either. I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone and can't believe it has such great reviews on yelp - the only reason I chose this shop over the others in Boulder. To top it all off employees were snarky, as if I was wrong to ask them to fix their mistake. Next time, I'll just do simple repairs like this myself. Brandon, at the Louisville shop, is probably the most honest mechanic I have ever dealt with. My car was having very occasional starting problems. The battery was not the cause and the starter was less than three years old. I left it with Brandon and for three days it started every time he tried it. Finally he traced down all the wiring and discovered a wire that would occasionally arc. Most shops would have charged whatever they could get away with and how would I know? Jim took the time to explain the other repairs and share how long each repair could reasonably go before these issues became problems. Furthermore he gave me estimates for each repair broken down by parts/labor. I was given a ride home from the shop when I dropped off my truck. The driver was courteous and the car was immaculate. Jim and his team have been fixing our cars since 1999. They are Honest, Reliable, Professional, Knowledgeable and Reasonably priced. I forget just how good they are until we take our car in and they look at some basic work that the quick lube oil change guys did filling our rear differential with the WRONG fluid and stripping out the bolt. Every time I take our vehicle to someone other than Repair Masters, out of convenience for me as we live in Lyons I regret it. We recently moved to Boulder and found this mechanic on Yelp. The experience with Repair Masters was flawless. We have an old Audi that had some warning lights on. Everything from the scheduling to drop off and pick up was easy. The car just needed some coolant and a simple oil change/check up. They recommended we check our oil more often (it was basically empty), but other than that they set us on our way for a very, very reasonable price. I recently started experiencing intermittent starting problem and was able drive over to Repair Masters. I have been going to Repair Master's over a number of years, and through a few cars and they have always been honest, helpful, and have always told me what needs to be done, what can wait, and what I probably shouldn't do. Gotten quotes from other places in Boulder Repair Master's are usually lower and I know they will stand behind their work and be fair because they want a long term relationship (good business) and not a quick buck. Case in point, my Aerostar van had coolant issues and from one thing to another I was in a few times, last time being for a part they don't usually replace, and Murphy being Murphy, that part decided to start leaking a week after getting it back. Brought it back and they fixed it in the time I needed and no charge because I had been in a couple of times before, even though my van is 20 years old!!!! THIS is who you want taking care of you and your vehicle! Thanks to Jim, Gordon, Michelle and all the gang!!! They stepped up and did what folks use to do when I was growing up and my dad was doing this and I appreciate that because not everyone is like that. I decided to try RMA after looking at the great reviews here. I called and made an appointment with a mechanic but when I arrived they had no record of me making an appointment. I explained my concerns yet again and the woman at the front desk informed me that they would check it out and get back to me. She did not check to see if I needed shuttle services and did not inform me of any type of fee I would have to pay to get my radiator/coolant lines checked. Later that day, RMA called to tell me that they were charging me $40 for refilling my coolant. When I arrived to pay the woman told me that I should have been informed that there was a $30 fee for pressure checks and that the rest was labor. She then told me that it was MY fault for not asking ahead of time if there would be any fees. The overall lack of communication and poor customer service skills was a disappointment and I will not be going back. I was looking for a mechanic who I could trust and who would be up-front with me (not just assume or fail to care that I don't know everything). Another draw back is that you do not get to talk to the mechanic who did the work, just the receptionist. read more

I was on a cross-country road trip this August and, to my horror, soon discovered that my air conditioner was no longer working. My sons and I had to make do traveling across most of the country with only water-filled spray bottles to cool us! We were going to be in Boulder, so I checked Yelp for highly-rated auto repair shops there that work on air conditioning and found Repair Masters Automotive. I called and, fortunately, they were able to work on my car when I was going to be in the area. They were able not only to refill the refrigerant fluid but find and fix the leaks. They called me when they found the source of the leaks and let me know how much it would cost to fix the problem. The price was reasonable and the work was completed promptly. The air conditioner has worked like a charm through the sweltering desert Southwest and ever since. The staff member I dealt with, Jim, was empathetic and friendly, with a good sense of humor. I found Repair Masters Automotive during a tour of a few auto shops around Boulder when I was looking for quotes on some major repair work. I can say pretty confidently that they're the best auto shop in town. Everything everyone else has said here is true: they can get you in faster than most shops, they're cheap, they're trustworthy, and they'll do things that other shops can't or won't. What more could you want? A little detail on the experience that led me to RMA: During a routine oil change, my dealership had told me my car was nearly un-driveable and that they were going to charge me $2000 to fix it. I was able to get my car into RMA the same week, upon which they quoted me $1600 and informed me that if it were their car, they wouldn't replace the parts I was looking at for another 10,000 miles. The owner (Jim) walked me through the repairs himself until he was convinced I understood what they needed to do, why they were doing it, and what the pros and cons of waiting were. Didn't charge me a dime. Several months later I made an appointment to follow-through on those repairs... I was over two hours late, and THEN called a couple hours later to again ask their opinion on whether the repairs were necessary. Despite my being a complete tool, Jim happily informed me that he'd personally go another year before fixing things and that even though they'd already started taking my car apart, they'd have it back together for me to pick up soon. No charge, no grumbling, just the request that I use them when the work finally needed doing. This is the kind of experience that shows you what a repair shop is really like.
