I was very impressed with the knowledge of the people there. I am not a mechanic for a reason, but the problem I was dealing with led me to this location. The building was very clean and socially distanced. I was a bit surprised to be charged $45 in labor to change a battery cable but at the time I was out of patience and time. I added and oil change since my car needed it but I was disappointed when there was not a discount for adding services to the same visit. I would visit this location again but would look for cheaper options before I go here. read more

So I used to have a great review of this place. The guy that runs the office is amazing (Daniel I believe) I have told multiple people how much I loved the service here. Most recent experience was rough...Towed my son's car in for an overheating issue. They ended up replacing the serpentine belt and the tensioner. I paid the full $800 requested as they said they had to dig out a screw that flew off. I brought my 16 year old son to pick up the car after hours. 5 miles down the highway, it overheated again and would not drive home. I tried calling Brakes plus and they were closed. I needed to get it off the highway so I had to find a shop that was open. I paid $120 for after hours tow. New shop said that the cooling fan was unplugged which caused air in the line. All my paperwork from Brakes Plus has "diagnosed/checked cooling system". We called Brakes Plus for an apology or tow reimbursement. Nothing. My husband got a "we didnt unplug the cooling system". That's it, nothing. So much for promoting this company. read more

My mom went to have her breaks checked yesterday, they came back with almost $800 worth of work. My husband came by, and not only did they talk to him more (because he was a man), they took forever to get the keys back to us so they could drive away. They could not start our car, and instead of just asking my husband how to start the car, they were checking the battery and wasting our precious time. My husband even told they how to start it, but they would not listen to him. Not until he went into the car without their permission and started it. So frustrating!! I wish I could give them - 5 stars! I went there because my brakes were squeaking. While they checked them out, they suggested an oil change. I agreed, and settled in to wait. After awhile, they kindly offered me a ride home. When I called a few hours later, they said they had the estimate and the oil change was done. I got a ride back, where I was told the price to fix my brakes was over $1600. I said I would have to think about it and then was told they hadn't even started the oil change. I waited more than 1.5 hours, even though there were very few cars in the garage area. Meanwhile, the mechanic kept coming in with revised estimates, higher than the first. I think they used the delay with the oil change to pressure me into the repair I couldn't afford anyway. They stressed how dangerous it was for a WOMAN alone to be driving with bad brakes. I was digusted, paid for my over-priced oil change and left. A few days later, I took it to Facinelli Motors (who were super!) in Monument, who fixed it for $500, and told me none of the other stuff Brakes Plus had told me was even needed. What a racket. I don't know if the whole chain is this way, but I will never go back to this location, nor any of their other stores. read more

Although my initial impression was very good, Brakes Plus misdiagnosed my A/C system -- quoting me over $2300 with aftermarket parts and labor to replace the entire A/C system. This was after Brakes Plus charged me $88 to *supposedly* recharge and test the A/C system. Surprisingly, I ended up paying much less by taking my car to Mike Maroone Chevrolet North: The dealership's service department determined that the A/C charge was low and the service ports were leaking. They replaced a low side hose with port, high side service port, and evacuated and recharged the system. My A/C is working just fine now. read more

I took my car in for Brakes Plus to change out my winter wheels/tires for my summer wheels/tires (already mounted before I went to Brakes Plus). I gave them explicit instructions to only swap out the wheels/tires. Nothing else. While I'm waiting for my car at the store, I get a call from my neighbor telling me to slow down. This obviously confused me as I was at Brakes Plus with my car. Kevin, the MANAGER of the store, without my permission, took my car out for a little joy ride and the brainiac took it out in my actual neighborhood where he floored it multiple times going way over the speed limit in a residential area. This guy isn't too bright because he apparently didn't see that I had a front and rear dash cam in my car. After I get home, I review the footage and yup - I see exactly what my neighbor was talking about! The Manager of Brakes Plus is ragging on MY car in MY neighborhood! Needless to say, Brakes Plus will never see my business again! read more

Gentleman would not look my wife in the eye when she spoke to him, but would look me in the eye. Turns out, they will not give a soft estimate until they look at your car. They were $600 more than Import Auto in the Springs. I told them I was coming to pick the car up and take out somewhere else. They didn't have the car ready in the attempt to lower some fees & keep the car. They put my tires back on and over tightened my lug nuts. My next appt was for new tires and it took them over 20 min to get the lug nut off. Horrible!! Go to Import Auto. read more

Kevin (the Manager) and Daniel provided excellent service for my girlfriend. Her front brake pads and rotors had to be replaced (rotor was beyond tolerances to be re-machined), and they told us the rear brakes still were okay. What was great was that my girlfriend dropped off her car at 4:30 pm, they looked at the car and called us by 5:45, told us they had the parts and could fix it that evening! Even though they closed at 6 pm, they stayed to finish several cars in their bays that evening. Please note that our car was a quicker repair than others since we just did an outright rotor replacement, instead of re-machining the existing rotor - which would have taken longer. They called us 10 minutes before it was ready - we got there a little bit later and we were good to go! Don't forget to check their website to download and use their coupons! I know other Brakes Plus stores in Colorado Springs aren't rated very highly but I highly recommend these guys here in Monument. read more

I love a company that greets you right at the front door with a happy smiling face. I've been going to Brakes Plus in Monument since they opened. And every time I'm greeted by a friendly employee. Recently I heard grinding on the front end of my car and was nervous I have problems with my caliper. I stopped in to make an appointment but Dave insisted on getting it up on the rack immediately to ensure that I was safe driving. They told me it would be about 30 to 45 minutes to examine the problem but 10 minutes after I left Dave was on the phone explaining what the issue was. A black plastic snow guard had to work its way loose and was rubbing up against the tire periodically. Dave explained how he screwed it in as well as replace my tail light that was out. I didn't even know I had a tail light out! So I went back to Brakes Plus to pick up my car and was ready to pay my bill but was greeted by Dave who explain that everything was on the house and that I did not have to pay a fee. What great service! Thank you guys for keeping me on the road and safe. I highly recommend the shop. read more

I was sent to Brakes Plus Monument by a local tire retailer to repair a cross-threaded lug nut. They did squeeze me into their busy schedule, and removed all four tires (included the one with the damaged lug nut) so I could check the brake pads. There was pressure to let them replace the front brake pads which were at 20% remaining. I declined, they reinstalled the tires, and I left. Later when I checked the torque on the front tires, I found they had severely over-torqued the lug nuts on both front tires, and had installed a cheap after-market lug nut instead of the proper one. I broke a tool attempting to remove the lug nuts. I then brought the car to a local repair shop, and they found many of the lug nuts over torqued--they had to forceably remove the right front tire to replace the lug bolt and lug nut. This was inexcusable and unprofessional work! read more

This place was a total joke. I took my Jeep in for an oil change and a brake check since it was a newer car for me. Shortly after leaving the car with them they called me and told me I needed about $950 dollars worth of brake work done. My front bakes were supposedly at 20% and the back ones about 40%. I said no way as I was having zero issues with the brakes and I would take it somewhere else first. When I came back to get my car they said, "well we will see you in about 5,000 miles and we will have this conversation again". Really? Terrible customer service just because I chose not to go with their outrageous prices! I've done some brake work here and there and have seen what decent and dangerous parts are. Took it to another shop that said maybe I could replace the front ones in a few months and the back ones by next year but he would feel guilty charging me for brakes that have more than 75% life left in BOTH. He took me back in his shop and showed me each and every thing involved with the brakes and nothing looked bad at all. She showed me a car that had about 40% life left and all of mine with MUCH better looking than that. I took it to one more shop to be sure and they sent me home as well livid about whoever wanted to charge almost a grand for brakes that were only 25% worn!! And they dared to tell me it was very unsafe to drive a car like that because I had told them I was having company come visit from out of state. Straight lies. The guys were friendly until I told them no and then they were nasty. I'll never be back or recommend this place. read more

Kevin, the manager, is great! So knowledgeable in our opinion - that goes for his mechanics too! They take the time to listen and thoroughly go over our vehicle for our concerns. We had an issue that went for months undiagnosed by a dealer (twice) and by another Brakes Plus location (twice), but we took it to this location in Monument and Kevin was able to detect the problem within minutes. He just did not just tell us what was wrong, he showed us the issue. We really appreciate the patience they show and how they help educate us about our vehicle. When Kevin was at another Brakes Plus location prior, he took the time to educate us on how to use our vehicle manual to keep up on necessary maintenance. Brakes Plus then did this necessary maintenance. The dealer we had just been to had given us a very long list which was close to $1,600, but not any of the items on the list had anything to do with regular maintenance and did not need to be done. It is so nice (actually it is WONDERFUL) to take our vehicle in for whatever service and know they are trustworthy, knowledgeable and price competitive. read more

I was in Colorado Springs looking to buy a used car. I brought a possible car of purchase to brakes plus for a used car inspection. I was told the inspection should only take a little more than an hour to complete. I had nothing else to do so I just sat in their waiting room while they inspected the car. 35 minuets later a "technician" came out with my "used car report" he quickly reviewed the inspection being very general and non specific. They only found that the clutch fuel was a little low but other than that "the car should be good". It felt like they had just rushed through my $100 inspection and left me with zero answered questions. I asked the technician about the timing belt and if it looked like it needed to be replaced. He said they couldn't see the belt so "it's hard to tell". Frustrated with another lazy answer I asked if he could tell me about how much it costs to replace a timing belt. He replied saying "oh only a couple hundred". I asked if he could print me out an estimate for a timing belt replacement. He came back with a report that totaled at 1,100, which is a tad more than a "couple hundred". I paid the $100 and got the hell out of there. Very unprofessional establishment I would nottt recommend going to brakes plus for any help you might need. read more
