Paid for a coolant leak diagnostic for my vehicle. They did their pressure test on it and said it wasn't leaking. Clearly it was leaking. They don't know what they are doing at all. Last week I took my car in and had them do an alignment and something with my breaks. It went well and they were very nice. I had a family friend try and replace the control arm and he could on do one side as the other wouldn't come off. I've had the part for months. I asked last week if they could put the new one on if I'd bought the part somewhere else. Two separate people told me that would be fine. I showed up today and was told they wouldn't even look at it. It was incredibly frustrating when I asked them multiple times last week if they could do it and was told it wouldn't be a problem. They were helpful last week. The manager who was there today that I was told was new was rude and didn't even bother to give me suggestions on places to take me car or apologize for the inconvenience. read more

Typical garbage brake shop trying to upsell services and won't correct a problem they took on. One of the mechanics was trying to argue with me when I was trying to explain what issue I was having. Funny part was that he hadn't even spent a minute under my truck and was telling me what my truck's issues were. The mechanic that had been working on my truck was a nice guy, but the heavy set guy was terrible. He shouldn't be allowed to be customer-facing. I am a mechanically-inclined person and needed a laser alignment after some work done on my front end suspension. That did not matter, they'll rip you a new one no matter what precautions you take. Tried reaching out to the store managers, but they get too many complaints to care, so I was ignored. Avoid like the plague if you value your time or money. read more

We've been taking our vehicles to Brakes Plus at 104th for years. They are able to clearly communicate the issues that need to be taken care of, and will let me know if something can wait to be repaired later or should be taken care of right away for safety. As with all shops, they are trained by corporate to try and sell something extra (air filter, wiper blades, whatever), but I have learned to ask bluntly if those extras are desperately needed or not. They don't take offense to me asking the questions. Their prices are in line with what other shops charge. The main reason I am loyal to this shop is because the people who work there are honest with me. That's hard to find these days. Of course they call you telling you that you need other stuff changed trying to get you to spend more money. When I declined these services because I had recently changed out that part and said I could do it myself he laughed in my face. About three weeks ago I brought my car into Shawn with a check engine light on. I was told the radiator had a leak and couldn't be repaired, so it was replaced for $1200.00. While on my way to work the engine light came on again. I took it back and was told it was either the coolant thermostat or the sensor...replaced both $400.00. Now smell antifreeze coming from heat vents into car. They can't smell the coolant! I can't either! Only suggestion is to replace the radiator cap. Hmmmm we'll see. Everyone is nice and professional. Ladies, please BEWARE of this place. I took my care in for a brakes check after my back wheels had been giving off a light squeak every so often. I had my front brake pads changed at 60,000 miles, and knew my back pads probably needed to be changed. After about 1.5 hours of waiting in their waiting room, a mechanic came out and informed me that my back brakes required new calipers and were "almost metal to metal". He then proceeded to tell me repeatedly how much of a safety concern this is and how I should address this matter TODAY and NOW. After looking at his quote, the total cost of new brake pads and calipers plus labor would be almost $1,000. He didn't even go out and show me the calipers or brake pads. After I asked the mechanic what would cause my calipers to be so worn, he simply stated, "Oh you know this happens--it happens a lot with big trucks and we see it every week at least 2 or 3 times a week", all while his ears were bright red. I drive a newer Corolla. Seriously. After reaching out to my family mechanic for a second opinion, it turns out my calipers were completely fine and actually had about 3mm to go. I understand that the season may be slowing down, but to blatantly lie to a potential customer and try to instill fear about the person's safety to get business and sell parts is disgusting, especially because she's a young woman. To make matters worse, 3/4 of my tire valve caps were missing afterwards and my tire pressure light was on. Save yourself the dishonesty and find a reputable facility. read more

Took my car in because the car was miss firing and when I picked my car up the guy said it was fine and charged me 98.00$ for maintenance fees. The car started up fine and I left to the store and when I tried to drive home the same problem occurred. I called the guy and he said "it was fine when I looked at it". Really! He then said there was no Tyler's he could do for me. I was ripped off by Brakes Plus. They expressed NO concern that I was stuck and out 98.00$. I had numerous things that needed to be done to my '14 Kia Optima. These were mostly typical maintenance sort of upkeep, other than the front left tire that was 3 degrees off b/c I nailed a curb. So the list of repairs: Front struts, shocks (rear), 4-wheel alignment, front brakes & rotors. These repairs were, quite expensive, but would've been even more so had Daniel not been able to find me some of the really great deals that he did! (Thanks man!) They had to keep my car overnight, but that was only due to the fact that I didn't drop it off until later in the afternoon, and they close at 6pm. My car was ready by 12 noon the next day. Now, just for 100% transparency on this review of my experience, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the following. (Also, the fact that this was resolved so quickly & professionally is why it didn't even affect the rating of 5 stars) After leaving their garage two days ago and driving home, I noticed a very noisy, very distracting & worrisome rattling coming from what I perceived to be the back, left rear of my vehicle. Subsequently, I took my car back to Daniel and Brian (mgr) and explained the issue. Short story short, after taking my car out for a brief test drive to hear it themselves, they put it on the lift and promptly diagnosed the issue. Turns out that a shock mount wasn't properly secured, causing the rattle. Again, fixed super fast, first time, etc...this was still worth the 5 star rating. So there you have it! It was expensive, but it was loaded w/ items that had been put off by the previous owner, and by myself - not to mention my curb kiss that was a large part of the overall bill. Bottom line: Everyone who has claimed to not have a good experience here, I'm really sorry about that. You must've NOT had the privilege to deal with Daniel and Brian! I didn't feel pressured, upsold, lied to, nor taken advantage of, at all. The fact that Brakes Plus stands behind everything for 6 months (and probably even longer than that), and the brake pads, etc for the life that you own that car made the large bill more palatable, that is for sure! I had to take my car to get a lug fixed that discount tire broke. All the employees were friendly and quick! They charged me half of what they quoted me which was a pleasant surprise!! The next day I saw I was missing a hubcap so I called to see if they had it but they didn't But promptly told me if I brought it up there they would get me new hubcaps! You should read it there but basically this shop saw an older woman and tried to tell me my 2015 car needed $1068 in repairs when 3 other places (2 competitor places and 1 private mechanic) quoted me less an $200 to change brake pads. Not saying I won't use another Brakes Plus for work on my car just won't use THIS Brakes Plus. I contacted corporate and within an hour got a call from a very nice gentleman who was polite and listened to me. He apologized but I already had another shop do the work. read more

I don't even know where to begin with these clowns.about two weeks ago. I bought my ford escape in because the traction light was staying on and the abs light, and emergency brake light would also come on and then go off. first they told me that they scan it with an obd scanner and that it was giving off a bunch of codes. then they told me my car was leaking oil. That my car engine was almost completely empty of oil.which I know was untrue. I take my car to the factory dealer for oil changes .if I had an oil leak why is there no oil in my driveway where I park,or anywhere I drive the car. they also told me I needed the steering wheel angle sensor replaced. all 4 wheels sensors replaced.a tie rod replace and some other stuff for a total of $2000 dollars. the real kicker is they told me before they could do any work on it. they have to clean the engine for $75.00.i agree to let them do that.which they couldn't even do that right. I could of took a garden hose and spay the engine with cold water and did a better job then what they did. So I took the car to another auto repair shop. who told me I had 3 codes that came up on their scanner. The problem was that my steering wheel angle sensor needed to be recalibrated.and the power steering control module needed to be reprogram. I also ask them if they could replace my windshield since it was badly cracked which they told me they could do that too. they did all that for less then $600. you guys should stick to just doing brakes but after the way you clean my engine. I'm not even sure you can do that right. read more
