Another update :( I've been going to Bending Wrenches for oil changes for the past couple of years and recently found out that tire rotation isn't included as part of their standard service. It costs an additional $10 and has to be requested separately - something I was never told during my visits. All other shops I've used include tire rotation automatically with oil changes, so this came as a surprise, especially after another tire shop pointed out uneven wear on my tires. I will now have to pay $300 to replace 2 tires early as their wear was halved due to this. Better communication from the staff would have prevented that issue. This isn't the first time I've had a problem here, but it's the one that made me decide to take my business elsewhere. I'd recommend that anyone using this shop ask up front exactly what's included in their service. read more

I had a very good experience with this place. I had an electrical problem that another mechanic that I have known for years (and I know is competent), did not find. I was worried that I may have to junk the car. I took it to these guys, and they found the problem on the same morning that they started work. I had one other experience here when I walked in with a friend that was having issues. We had a conversation with the owner who, instead of telling us it was an emergency, and we had to get it fixed right away, said that the work was not urgent and my friend could still use the car for quite a while before it would eventually need to be repaired. They were very thorough and use state of the art software to not only communicate effectively but break down the vehicle health, item by item.. including picturrs when appropriate. Declined repairs from this shop and got a vehicle that was coated from top to bottom in oil throughout the engine bay. will never recommend.

I was not asked to write anything, but Bending Wrenches deserves special mention. Our truck needed a complex repair which 3 local shops quoted a price range for but they could "only give a maximum price AFTER we take it all apart". Their worse-case scenario estimates were 3, even 4 times the best-case scenarios, making me consider selling it instead. I accepted that it was my responsibility, not the mechanic's, to take the risk of this becoming a worse-case scenario repair. I asked each shop for the benefit of their experience on how often this repair is best versus worst case, assuring them I would hold them to nothing. One of these shops actually accused me of trying to trap them into a lower price just because I was asking such questions. What a difference at this place! Brian answered every question professionally with patience, and told me that worst case was actually about 2x more than best case and then committed his shop to a maximum price. It ended up being best case dollars. Excellent job, they've earned our business. read more

I recently moved from CA and I was nervous about having to find a new, honest, car mechanic. Well I found one! Rickey Duncan is fabulous! He recently opened his own shop after working at a dealership and other repair shops for over 20 years. I am very pleased at how fast, and honest he was with fixing a major electrical alternator problem in my corolla. They even gave me a ride to and from my house. As of Nov 16, 2009 they are running a winterization special for $24.95 which includes oil change, 27 point inspection, tire rotation, and all fluids topped off (with letter coupon.) The hydraulics on my back gate of my Outback had worn out, so I bought the parts and thought I'd replace them myself, but found it was harder than it looked. Took it into Bending Wrenches today, they replaced them in 20 minutes for $20! Super nice people, the owner did the work himself. I was so pleased, I booked an oil change, which they did today too, for $23! I have a CV joint that needs replacing, I've had a couple of quotes given in the past few months for the problem, but since they were around $1000, I couldn't afford it, these folks will do it for less than $400! Found a coupon in a local magazine for an oil change, filter, top off all fluids, tire rotation and 27 point inspection for $19.95 from Bending Wrenches. Thought I would give them a try. I will not be going back. Brought my vehicle in and a whopping 15 minutes later they were done. Let's see they didn't bother rotating the tires and the 27 point inspection resulted in telling me I needed new wiper blades....uh, those are brand new. The inspection did not however recognize that my rear differential is clearly leaking. Like the tire rotation I suspect there was no inspection. With some suspicion I took a look under the hood when I got home to see what else they neglected. Fluids were not topped off either, no surprise. The only thing I can confirm that they did actually do was replace the oil filter as it is a cheap generic brand that I have never seen before. Beware. If you go here their "service" is NOT as advertised. read more

It's never fun to see the dreaded "check engine" light flash on, especially having just moved to town with no clue as to where to take our Subaru Forester. After reading the reviews on Yelp I decided to give Bending Wrenches a shot and am very glad I did. They were able to very quickly figure out what was causing the light and had it fixed within the day! Although the radiator and timing belt had to be replaced (as well as deciding to do an oil change and have a wiring issue fixed), the TOTAL price came in at about just over what I had been previously quoted for the timing belt alone. Not only was the service fast and very well priced, the owner gave me a ride to work and offered to come pick me back up after my car was done. This is a fantastic, trustworthy shop - hopefully I won't have to return to a repair shop too soon, but if I do, atleast I know where to go! read more

I took my car here recently when a Subaru shop in Denver (let's just say it rhymes with "Subaru Cynic") had no idea how to replace a clutch properly and repeatedly did the job wrong. You'd think a clutch would the first thing they teach a mechanic but you get what you pay for and I am guilty of bargain hunting. I wandered into BW looking for another opinion on what in sam hell was wrong with the my car and they immediately diagnosed the problem and as events would bear out, they did it correctly! I had gotten an opinion from the dealership as well but the guys at BW were so helpful and displayed such a high level of expertise that I chose them to replace the clutch improperly installed by the other shop. But get this, not only did they do a fantastic job on the clutch but at no additional charge, the proprietor spent half a day at court with me to act as my expert witness when I had to take the other mechanic to small claims court to recover my expenses. Most of the time when I see these glowing reviews I assume the company asked the person to write it. Not here, they don't know I'm writing this, but I'm more than happy to sing their praises. I feel like I jus hit the jackpot!!! I have a 99 jeep Cherokee sport. I just moved here from Boston. After having my Boston mechanic prepare my car for the big move I got all the way to Nebraska and had it quit on me. The people in Nebraska fixed the issue, but ever Since then I've been nervous about something else happening. I had the guys here check it out because of some stuttering (per recommendation of the Autozone up the street). Since I don't know anyone here yet, I couldn't leave my car, although busy, they accommodated me!!! They don't charge for diagnostics and don't sell you work for the sake of it. After spending some time on it they didn't find a problem, so no charge!!! And even charged my freon!!! One of the mechanics here is the president of the local Jeep club, and two former Chrysler workers. Rickey, the owner was great at explaining the thought process. I WILL BE BACK!!! Seriously come here if you're in the area to have your car worked on. read more

This shop has always been a solid good choice, but today they went above and beyond - I was picking up a Uhaul trailer with my truck and Uhaul wouldn't let me take it because the trailer running lights wouldn't come on! Zipped over to these guys and begged them to take a look ASAP so I wouldn't lose my Uhaul reservation - within 15 minutes, Bending Wrenches found and replaced the blown fuse that was causing the issue, checked my truck wiring, and I was back on track and successfully able to pick up the trailer. They've done good solid work on both my F150 and my Corvette, better than some of the specialty shops I've used. Keep up the good work and thanks! read more

These guys are the best mechanics. They are honest and up front with you about everything. I don't know much about cars and they answer all my stupid questions and I have lots of stupid questions. It's hard to find mechanics you trust and after years of bad experiences with cars and random mechanics, it feels good to have these guys in my corner when I'm buying a car, about to spend too much on an old beater of a car, or if I just don't know what to do with my vehicle. I moved here in August 2010 and immediatley went looking for a auto repair shop I could trust. After checking online reviews, I narrowed my choices down to three shops and ended up using Bending Wrenches simply because they had the best price on the many repairs my car needed. Because I was new to the area and only had one vehicle, they paid for a rental car while they worked on my vehicle. The second time I got repairs done, they dropped me off at home after I left my car and then dropped my car off for me at my home when the work was complete. I've been a loyal customer for several years because I found them to be honest and they do a good job at a reasonable price. I've liked these guys and trusted the service they provide, but my latest experience has me questioning if I'd return. So, when my car had the 'battery light' come on, the first place I thought to take my car was Bending Wrenches. I suspected it was the alternator given some other symptoms my car has had, so I took it in for analysis. A couple hours later I received a phone call after they completed their inspection with the following problems: 1. Alternator (confirmed bad) 2. Because of the alternator the battery had a dead cell 3. Front brakes & rotors needed to be replaced 4. I have small leaks in my transmission lines & engine valve cover 5. The right strut needs to be replaced 'to preserve tire life,' and I should have both the left and right done, and then I'd need an alignment Total cost over $1000. I had also instructed them that if the alternator needed to be replaced to install the serpentine belt in my trunk - which they did and asked me if I wanted my spark plugs replaced since those were in the trunk as well (my engine isn't missing and there is no reason to replace the spark plugs) - this is another $400 expense. I felt pretty uncomfortable with all of these extra repairs and declined them all for further investigation with other trusted sources and here are the results: 1. Battery - functioning completely normally, no need to replace 2. Front brakes (I do my own scheduled oil changes and brake maintenance) and I buy pads with 'squeaker bars' - my brakes aren't squeaking, so there is adequate life left on them. When I asked Bending Wrenches for the rotor thickness measurements 'they weren't available' - very questionable if they confirmed the rotors needed to be replaced. 3. Leaks - my car is 13 years old and has been developing leaks for the last several years, but there is never a drop of fluid under my car in the driveway. The leaks aren't significant and don't warrant repair (when I had my car in to a different (more expensive) mechanic last fall the leaks were observed, but not recommended to repair - with the instruction to watch for fluid under my car). 4. Right strut - I put new tires on my car last year and specifically asked (another trusted) mechanic to double-check my struts because I thought they looked worn. That mechanic said my struts were still in good working order. There has clearly been a change in how the shop is run in the last year (I had a positive experience roughly a year ago). I've been recommending them to people whenever people are looking for a good & trustworthy mechanic, but now I have concerns about their honesty and likewise, debate if I'll call them the next time I need my car repaired. I will no longer recommend them to friends, family, and acquaintences. I'm sorry to see this change in how they provide services and hope they will take this feedback seriously and return to their honest and trustworthy ways. I'll conclude with a description of myself and a warning for the 'naive' - I am a young-looking woman and I would like to live in a world where my physical appearance doesn't set up as 'easy prey' for 'unsuspecting.' I have a degree in Physics, have worked as an engineer for over 15 years, do the bulk of my own car repair (I've been under a car since the age of 3) and the only reason I didn't change my alternator is because of time - not knowledge or ability. I encourage anyone who is 'naive' or appears to be 'naive' to be very wary of this place. read more

These guys saved me thousand of dollars by inspecting and locating issues with a car I was considering for purchase.
