They made a mistake, it happens, it took a while and it was frustrating but they made it right. Can't ask for more than that.

Mechanic recommended fixes for the long road trip, we had them completed and picked up the car with seemingly no issues. We were slated to leave the next morning at 5am, so we woke up at 3am to get ready and take the dog out on a walk, where we discovered the splash guard hanging completely on the ground underneath the car (first image + video below). So we had to delay our trip out by 2 hours just to bring it back in. Told them my frustrations with having our travel delayed, and wasn't really met with any sort of apology / compensation. Finally get back out on the road, and when we arrive at our destination the next morning, we noticed a scraping noise when hitting some low bumps. Looked under the car and see that part of the guard underneath is held together with a zip tie! (Second image + video) Absolutely insane work. Completely disgusted with the shoddy work and the lack of attention + care.

However, 3.5 months after offering to…read morereimburse me for a Steering Angle sensor recalibration (required after suspension work), he's ghosted me and failed to pay me back. I really liked him, appreciated his work. I hired him to…read morereplace the power steering pump, the cost was absolutely cheaper than other places especially because I bought the part my own. After the work done, the car felt pretty much same or sometimes even worse, for example the handle gets really stiff to turn. He says that it's very normal process because the air has to be bleed out. Weeks have passed with same issue so he came to check the car again and said there's power steering pump rack problem. The rack is usually $1000-2000. Personally didn't really think it would be the rack problem with several reasons and decided to take the car to bigger auto shop. After diagnosis, I was told that the power steering pump is failed because when it was replaced, the flush should've be done but since he skipped it, now debris in fluid damaged not only the whole new pump but also hose and reservoir. Of course as car owner, I was definitely frustrated with the fact that now I have to pay extra more money than before when I thought I could save money because of how mechanic guy has done. I personally had to pay new power steering pump+labor fee but now I have to pay another new power steering pump+hose+reservoir+another labor fee. I will accept the fact that I was asking money back at first because.... who wouldn't? It might not be making sense to ask money back for damaging the new power steering pump by how poorly worked done but I thought the labor fee at least would've been made sense. Instead of taking accountability, he would be defend and saying the book he learned from says that power steering pump replacement is totally okay without the flush and had no problem with all other cars or sending me the google search screenshots. Of course the warranty wouldn't cover anything of things even if he damaged the new part and extra parts of car. Currently I wanted to see more opinions than one or two so took the car to another new auto shop, they also agreed that power steering pump is failed and with high possibility from how it was worked done. Surprisingly the rack itself doesn't look like having a problem, different than what this guy said. People at auto shop also say that flush is very necessary for the pump replacement, especially when the car is old. As I personally said to him, people can always make mistakes but important thing is how to handle. I got an apology eventually. But I wasted money. The other thing, he advised me to replace rear break pads soon. I went to check the break pad recently, all my break pads are not needed to replace due to adequate thickness. I would say he is a capable man to do some works on cars but I can't say he would be with more complicated jobs.

After picking up the vehicle and paying under $4000 and the warranty company also paid their portion under $900. The truck drove worse and continued to leak. My husband contacted Troy and we were to bring the truck back and he would have it repaired. I have several emails with conversations to support this issue. The warranty company contacted Troy and requested more information and photos, a week later he provided it to them. After receiving the information from Troy, photos etc, the warranty company decided to send out their own inspectors to check this vehicle and found huge inconsistencies. I will add that the timeline from Troy was off by a week. I have the proof for that as well. I picked up the truck. It did not drive well at all. I'm lucky I got it home which I live very close. I sent several emails requesting a refund as well as my meeting with Troy so that I could get it repaired elsewhere. I never received a response until a phone call from the general manager Austin. He was extremely angry and the conversation didn't go well I felt very intimidated. I attempted to get help through other resources and had other mechanics and lawyers view the statements and they did find that the statements were ridiculous for labor, etc. I finally had enough and called Austin and told him I don't want to fight anymore and if you feel that this company did the right thing then they live with that, no legal action as I wanted to which would allow them to speak with Tom Martino but they declined, they had the opportunity to share their side. I most recently received a voicemail from Austin and returned his call, he told me they would be happy to see me in small claims court, granted this is after I told him I'm finished fighting with him. I emailed and requested their attorneys information and have not received it as of today. He had the nerve to ask if I had the truck repaired, I found that very sarcastic. It doesn't matter that my husband is in the Middle East deployed through next year or that there is a government shut down or that I'm not a mechanic. I was trying to get them to do the right thing and they did not. I am not looking for pity. I am looking for justice and I did not get it. I do not recommend Lake Arbor Automotive to anyone. I'm sure people may have had better experiences with this company however I did not. Be cautious with this company.
