We took a vehicle for Maryland State inspection. They documented 3 "Declined Jobs" 1.stabilizer link right front has play 2.stabilizer link left front///suggested 3. battery hold down. (and a) note: "passenger door does not open properly" We took it to our mechanic who repaired the "Declined Jobs" AS REQUIRED. When we took it back to Ft Washington for reinspection, we were told it failed because the door had not been repaired. HAD FORT WASHINGTON AUTO & TIRE LISTED THE DOOR AS ONE OF THE "DECLINED JOBS" AS THEY SHOULD HAVE, our mechanic would have repaired the door also. When asked WHY they failed to list it as a "Declined Job" the response was "...because we don't repair the door so we couldn't give you an estimate". Again, since they could not benefit from the repair, they caused us GREAT inconvenience! Thus, we strongly recommend you take your vehicle to a Maryland Inspection Station which inspects your vehicle and DOCUMENTS THE INSPECTION RESULTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH MARYLAND STATE GUIDELINES. Fort Washington Auto and Tire certainly failed to do that.

I scheduled my appointment for 8:30am and when I arrived at 8:01 am, I was told very nasty that I was late and my appointment was at 7:30am. I said, that's impossible because that's the time I drop my daughter off for school so there is now way I agreed to get there at 7:30am. I also explained to them that the reason I was 30 minutes early (remember, my appointment was at 8:30am) is because my car kept stalling to start (push button start, car is a 2020). I let them turn the car off to change the oil. After being there an hour, the guy quotes my oil change and says to me that he will "check my battery" to see if its low. At about 10:45 am (at this point, I'm there for 2 hours for an oil change), its time to pay and they tried to charge me $125.00 for "looking at my battery to figure out what the problem was". I was never told that it would cost me an additional $125 to "look at my battery". I asked him why would I pay $125 for something AutoZone does for free?! He then got nasty and told me that he will drop the $125 so "I wouldn't leave on bad terms" and I asked that I never return. I said, "no problem, you aren't the only mechanic in town that does oil changes". Never, ever deal with these people.

He put one of his mechanics on it and within another 10 minutes, they found the nail and patched it up. 20 minutes later, I was back on road, after paying the $20 fee, heading to work. I know at other places, it would have taken "all-day" to be seen without an appointment. I really appreciated their care and timely response, and costs I paid for the service. When I get there Steven tells me they still don't know why the car is misfiring or the check engine light is blinking. I had my car TOWED in at 163,538 miles(as pictured in video), when I got the car back 12/18 it was 163,615(as pictured) with NO GAS IN THE CAR & that is 77 MILES OVER. I understand that a mechanic had to drive the car around to figure out what's going on but 77 MILES IS COMPLETELY INSANE & UNACCEPTABLE!!! At this point I'm starting to think these are a bunch of basement mechanics they are only good for oil changes, brakes & rotors (the basic stuff) that's just driving people vehicles around & not really fixing anything. I had high hopes for this auto shop. My visit started out great. But they disappointed me in the…read moreend. First, I want to acknowledge the good things about my experience. Although they didn't take appointments, I did not have to wait for my car to be looked at when I got to the shop. My car was assessed within 30-45 minutes. For the most part in the beginning my interaction with everyone was positive and the work that was done was completed satisfactorily. I interacted mainly with two service advisors. The first service advisor at the front desk took my information and I told him what I wanted done to my vehicle. I told him that I wanted the under carriage of my car to be assessed for any damages and to see if and how the undercover could be repaired/replaced. This advisor told me that once my car was on the lift, the mechanic would assess the vehicle for any damages to the undercarriage and would also generally look over the vehicle for any other issues at no charge. I also asked for them to call me as soon as my car was on the lift so that the mechanic could point out any damages he may come across and so I could ask the mechanic questions before anything was done to the vehicle. The advisor agreed to my request and I had a seat. Now this is where things went downhill. I was expecting the advisor to call me when my car was on the lift. However when an advisor came to notify me about the status of my vehicle, he told me that the mechanic had already lifted the vehicle, looked over the vehicle and repaired the undercover. The advisor that let me know the status of my car was not the advisor that did my initial intake. I told this second advisor that I was supposed to have been called when the car was on the lift so that I could be there to see what damages were identified prior to any repairs. This was to include the undercover. They did not even give me a quote for the repair prior to the repair and I had specific questions on certain areas on the undercarriage that I wanted to point out to the mechanic. The initial advisor was near the new advisor and did not say a word. The second advisor kept reiterating that there was no damage to the vehicle. When I got to where my car was, it was already on the ground, the second advisor told the mechanic to lift the vehicle to show me what was done. I could not see any thing underneath the cover. But I observed that there was no extensive damage to the undercover and the advisor pointed out that just a few of screws/bolts needed to be replaced. When I got back to the register I told the service advisor that I did not intend for them to do the repairs before I saw and agreed to that service. When I got to the register they gave me quotes for other recommended services and charged me for the reattaching the undercover. Rather than acknowledging the error he rudely asked if I wanted them to undo the work that was done. The initial intake advisor again was standing nearby and did not say anything. I went ahead and paid for the work. I also had to ask the mechanic for my keys. The mechanic eventually found them in passenger side of the car. My issue with the shop was its failure to follow through on my request as agreed upon and to provide good customer service until the end. This is just as important to me in ensuring trust and long term customer relationships as providing good workmanship. I will not be returning to this shop
