Very clean! A nice place to relax and browse. Things are in their place, super organized. Not like some thrift stores where you take the risk of an accident or tripping over random junk on the floor. Best resale with nicest employees! This store is very well organized and new things come in daily. It is priced fair- they really try to have things so they are affordable to the local community. It's frustrating when reseller come in and buy everything up to resell. Keep in mind when you go to reseller shops around Monterey a lot of of them have already shopped at Branches and are charging you a higher price! read more

I'm a reseller so I check out all the thrift stores when I'm in the area. The store is very small and rather dark inside. The inventory isn't anything special, no hidden gems at least from a reseller's point of view. The plus side - very organized, clean and most things are reasonable priced. I appreciate the effort it takes to keep the store looking tidy. I always find something there for my personal use so I make point to stop in when I'm in town. read more

I would not recommend this place as the owners follow you around like if you're stealing. Thought it'd be a super cool thrift shop but was quickly disappointed. One of the old lady's grabbed a toy out of my nieces hands and said "you know this is $1 right?" Super uncomfortable and rude. I left behind everything I was planning to buy because of the way they treated us. For this business I recommend trusting your customers and not treating them like criminals. Neat store with a bunch of funky knicknacks, LOTS of toys and plenty of books. A bit pricey though. I understand it's a charity shop, but quite a few clothing items originated from Walmart or Target and were being sold at close to the retail prices. The women who work here are extremely kind and helpful. The store helps support the San Carlos school. A huge boutique section with very nice women's clothing, jewelry, etc. and some very nice men's jackets/blazers, ties, and shoe selection. I visit there for their furniture which they always have quite the selection. My last stop in I picked up a cute side table for only $10.00. They have fantastic sales, and offer discounts for military and students. Each morning they have coffee which they offer to the shoppers. Keep in mind when you come here the proceeds fund a school. Great vintage cookware and household decor etc. Very poor selection of genuine vintage clothing for women, decent selection of genuine vintage for men. I love this place but they accept donations only, they don't buy items off you even if they are valuable vintage pieces so that deters people away from giving their great vintage items to this place. Nevertheless, better for the community to donate/buy here than goodwill. read more

Some of the kindest people work at this huge thrift store located in the heart of Monterey. I only go to secondhand shops for one reason and that is to find woodies aka wooden rackets. They didn't have any this time but instead I found a vintage set of rice bowls and tea cups from Japan. That was a lovely surprising find. All the proceeds go to benefit the San Carlos School located just a block away. read more

This store is a treasure, not only the store but the lovely ladies that run the store. They service the community with kindness and grace. They are extremely helpful and prices are fantastic. Specials run throughout the week. Always new finds, which can take you back to wonderful childhood memories and some items just make you smile. They do their research on the items to price them appropriately and fairly. Had a blast throughout the holidays as well! They play music which is calming and enjoyable. My second disappointing visit to this thrift shop. Items seemed dated and over priced. I found a plaid skirt for my daughter and it was marked $15. It was not a designer brand and I put it back for that price. I found a light weight jacket for $20 which seemed high priced for being an off brand and declined to purchase that as well. My daughter found a book and that's about all. We won't try again. Due to the higher prices and low quality items, inventory moves slowly. read more

The only thing that keeps this from being a "5" is that prices often start out higher than other thrift stores-- yet especially with the half-off sale on the last Saturday of the month, treasures abound. Donated items are often high quality, and you can check out the boutique-section for higher-end finds. This has been a great spot for me as a college student! I've been able to find couches, chairs, and kitchen stuffs for my new house of campus. Also I always find affordable and cute clothes I normally wouldn't have been able to buy on my budget. Of course I can also pick up and ugly sweater or two while in there as well ;).
