I have a friend who volunteers at this thrift store which raises money for the Alliance on aging. I really wanted to like it. It actually has some very nice collectibles in there, but the prices are outrageous. There is ample parking in front of the store, especially on a weekday. When I walked in, I definitely got the sticker shock. They had two hand woven wicker, Mexican children's chairs. That they were asking $85 each. These may have been vintage, but they were sure beat up. And $85 seems a little bit high. They use a tiered descending pricing which decreases the price once every month until it gets down to 50%. Oddly though I didn't see any prices that were lowered on my trip today. It's a very nice store as far as the things they have in there some lovely old pieces some very nice clocks and other collectibles. The clothing is again right in the middle of the store and it makes it a little difficult to navigate for someone who uses a cane like I do. I have used the Alliance on aging myself and I know they're a good group so I do wish them every success with their store but I think the prices are still pretty high. Also, the staff could be a little more friendly when you come in, the two ladies that were working completely ignored the entire time. read more

What a setting and setting that is welcoming! Excellent assortment of antique clothes in every size and gender. The owner is quite stylish, offers fair rates for the items, and was a huge help in finding specific designs in the store. They have an excellent assortment of clothing. The prices are amazing but you have to look at the dates to know if the price is less. The tag has three or four prices on it and no one explained what they meant to us Got some amazing deals. The only reason I didn't give it four stars is because the staff wasn't very friendly except for the gentleman who had to fix an issue. All purchases in this store support the Alliance on Aging. The Alliance in Aging began in 1970 as a group of local citizens who wanted to help seniors remain in their own homes as long as possible. They are now the largest non-profit provider of senior services in Monterey County. So not only do I get to shop what I consider a very nice consignment store, I also get to support a great cause at the same time! Spirals is an upscale consignment store. They sell new and lightly used merchandise such as clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry, furniture, art, books and household goods. They really have a cute selection of items. While I found the clothing somewhat expensive, other items such as crystal, knick knacks and jewelry were very reasonably priced. The selection was great. I came away with a fun bracelet for only $10. My mom found a beautiful crystal chandelier for only $35. The ladies at the register were friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back when I am in the area again. read more

Wow! I cannot believe this charity/thrift store Spirals has not yet been reviewed let me enlighten you on this Pacific Grove treasure. My husband and I stumbled on this undiscovered store this past Saturday June the 22nd while stopping at a near by auction house Hambrook's. These two stores are well within walking distance and if you fancy some additional shopping for undiscovered items this is a place to browse. This is a wonderful space very well kept and clean. As with most charity shops you will never know what you may discover. During this visit we spotted a nice selection of art, glassware, china, costume jewelry, clothing for both men and women, as well as a varied selection of collectibles too. The prices are a bit higher than your standard Goodwill as well as Salvation Army prices. But they do weed through their inventory so nothing is ever put out that does not meet their quality standards. They have a two page guideline on what they accept on their web-site. So rest assured you are only viewing quality merchandise only no need to sift through anything which is not clean or broken or damaged. For those of you that are lucky enough to call the Central Coast your home they will also consign your quality items should you decide that you do not want to donate the items. Spirals will split the sale 50/50! I also liked the way the ticketing system works at Spirals. On each ticket it will indicate when the item(s) in which you desire will go on sale. And it will let you know what the sale price will be! (Although that won't work well for me since I am not lucky enough to live in the area.) But for those of you that live here that would be quite good to know. In addition there is a separate sale room for those wanting a extra bargain! These tags reflect items that are past the date of the original asking price. I found a beautiful Eastlake style Victorian table priced quite reasonably too. But since we bought some items at Hambrook's Auction and my house is quickly running out of space I had to leave it there! The ladies who work there are very helpful and as charming as can be. And the money spent there goes to the Alliance on aging. Which helps seniors stay in their homes as long as possible and live safely. I did not find anything that I had to have on my initial visit besides that beautiful Eastlake table! But next time I am visiting the Central Coast I will make it a point to stop here and take a browse at this delightful store. Spirals is a wonderful store that I will add to my list of favorite charity/thrift stores. read more

Spirals is a very nice and quaint consignment/thrift shop. I stop by about once per month. It's hit or miss as far as finding items that are of interest to me. That is not a bad reflection on the store. they have many nice things and good deals. The ladies working at this store are always polite and helpful. I have been very pleased with the items I have purchased here. I hope they continue to receive many good items. I like where the profits go of this nonprofit shop. read more

My husband and I shop at the store probably on a monthly basis. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. They are not pushy and are available for any help we might need. The store is beautifully merchandised and all the product is clean, dust free - No unpleasant smells when you walk through the door. I've enjoyed Spirals as a shopper and consignor. The quality of their merchandise is better than some second hand stores because it strives to be something a bit different. Therefore if you are disappointed at what you think is a higher price than a 'Goodwill' I challenge you to find top brands and high quality clothing , collectibles, jewelry, dishes, art, furniture, shoes , etc at a Goodwill. You won't. I shop both so I know! As someone who is aging I also am pleased to see an organization that takes on the needs and supports so many of our seniors issues.... so support Spirals- a worthy cause and great store! read more

I volunteer at Spirals and love seeing all the beautiful--and sometimes unusual merchandise that comes through our doors! Most of it is out the door as soon as it "hits" the floor, but come often as we put out new things daily! Not recommended by the seller. Twice I have brought items they're worth far more than what they were price for. Either people that are working there are taking advantage of deals or they're just plain not researching what things are worth. You might as well donate. At least the charity shops get their items appraised before they put them out on the floor. Not recommended. read more

Hands-down my favorite consignment store between Monterey and Santa Cruz. You really cannot call it a thrift store. The clothes are all primarily brand name: Ann Taylor, loft, Nordstrom. Everything is spotless, pressed clean and high-end names. Prices go down after time. Much of it is donated by the Carmel types. They also have China, lovely artwork, glasswork. a little bit of household items. A great place to find a nice jacket or scarf. Mensl clothing too although not a huge amount. I took in a 100% silk Tommy Bahama shorts and sleeveless wrap around top ensemble for consignment. This was bought as an ensemble. It did not sell in the 45 days. My guess why it didn't is they had the shorts in hanging on one rack and the top on another. No one would ever guess these two belong together. The top was made to go with the shorts. I was very disappointed that they did that. I had the outfit professionally cleaned, cost $14. It smelled nice and fresh when I took it in for consignment. The store has a musty smell like not enough circulation of air. So when I got the outfit home and putting it back on hangers it had the musty smell of the store. read more

I found Spirals to be very expensive for a consignment shop. Yes the clothing is a tad bit nicer but not to put an expensive price tag on. Lots of sweater sets and turtle necks I noticed. The staff are really nice and will happily answer any possible questions you may have. read more

Great selection and incredibly nice staff. I was there the weekend of the Monterey Jazz Festival and the credit card system was down. They called to verify my number and asked how my last day at the festival was, which was I thought was really sweet and left an even more positive impression than was already there. read more

Absolutely recommend this gem of a store next time your in Pacific Grove. There is such a variety of clothes for both men and woman as well as household items, pictures, jewelry and shoes. The items change frequently so it's like going to a new store every couple of weeks. So many treasures to find here. The staff is so friendly and helpful it's like visiting with your neighbor when your in there. The best part of all of this is that the money raised goes to Alliance on Aging. What a great find! Everytime I go in there are new treasures the ladies that work there are all so kind and helpful. The store is very clean and organized (not like a "thrift shop" where everything is just strewn about and you feel dirty when you leave.) There are not only clothes but tons of glassware, household items, and sometimes furniture although it goes quickly. They also have a great jewelery selection including a case of real gems and gold and silver pieces that they get appraised before putting on the floor. Great find. I had visited this store a couple years ago and was so happy with what I purchased then! When we were visiting the area last week I made it a point to visit Spirals and wow, I was completely overwhelmed with the values I got there! Their clothing is top notch (I had never seen such a perfect wool gabardine (I think that's the material) coat that fit my large petite size perfectly. So many other things, both clothing and household items, were fantastically priced and I cannot wait to go back! I agree with the other reviewers that the store is organized and items are generally in good condition, however, they've apparently had shoplifting issues, so they watched me like a hawk while I looked around and until I paid and left. Even when I was being rung up by one lady, another employee stood next me to peer into my bag to verify that I didn't steal anything. Overall, this is a great place to go if you want to shop uncomfortably and be treated like a shoplifter. read more

This store is a consignment/donation store but it sure does not look like one. The clothes are displayed very nicely and not crammed in. Everything looks clean and neat. You can browse around and in the back they have a Grab Bag section where you can buy clothes at a bargain. You will never know what you will find. New merchandise is displayed daily so you must stop in often. They have computer generated price tags which is nice. Spirals is a real treasure. Apparently Pacific Grove has a number of consignment/donation stores but this one is by far the best I have seen. Good Job Spirals. read more
