Our waiter, Chris N, came across as rude and dismissive on several occasions. When I ordered the Farmstead Pinot Noir, he immediately responded, "You don't want that one. The other one is much better," rather than offering a recommendation in a more respectful and informative way. Later, when my friend placed her dinner order, he remarked, "Well, that's a lot of food," which made her feel uncomfortable and judged. Throughout the meal, he seemed rushed and gave the impression that he couldn't wait for his shift to end. While the food and atmosphere were wonderful, the service left us feeling unwelcome and detracted from what otherwise could have been a great dining experience.

Our ninth winery of last year's Napa tour saw us visit our second cave of our trip where we enjoyed…read moreour tasting at Miner Family Winery. We were very impressed with their location that comprised a two story (maybe three) building that you had to access via steep flight of stairs to a lovely deck that you inside to the gorgeous tasting room. The spectacular view overlooking the vast number of vineyards across the Silverado Trail only enhanced the experience of being there, taking in the gorgeous weather that comprised blue skies and warm vibes. Inside there were some lovely booth lounge and table seating. I appreciated the groovy guitars encased and hung against one of the walls. To access the main cave where we would have our tasting, we walked through the back area where we passed by the windowed area that the massive fermentation tanks were located. Entering the cave was magical with purple dimmed lighting and candles lit on the large wooden table and on the other boudoir. Our guide did a tremendous job explaining the wines and the stories behind them. We enjoyed a pour straight from the barrel while walking through the various caves housing the barrels aging the wine. The experience was wonderful and wools go back in a heartbeat after having pours of the Oracle, Oakville Cab, and Stagecoach Merlot amongst the treasures that we enjoyed such as the 2013 Stagecoach Cab. Miner is one of true standouts, especially if you want to enjoy your tasting in a wine cave where they store all the barrels.

She spent quality time with us at our table, sharing her knowledge, warmth, and a wonderful energy that turned a great wine tasting into something truly special. It's rare to feel such a personal connection during a winery visit, and Jamie made that happen with ease and authenticity. Before the tasting, we had a tour of the grounds, where we learned about the wine-making process, storage, and grape cultivation. The facility was exceptionally clean, which I was pleasantly surprised by. I don't think they would offer tours if the facilities weren't up to par. Back in the room with the long dining table, we were served charcuterie boards that complemented the wine. Although I'm more of a beer guy, I couldn't resist the allure of the wine. As one after the other wines improved, my wife and I decided to buy a bottle as a memento. We ended up getting the Rubicon, which we'll save for 25 years. We plan to return to get a more aged Rubicon so we can share this experience with our family. However, our host (the birthday girl) made a mistake and forgot to update the headcount. As a result, the bill was slightly higher than expected. If I were a member of the service staff, I would have politely informed them of the error and insisted on a refund. But the staff was incredibly accommodating and helped the host by removing the guests who couldn't make it. Their exceptional service made the experience even more memorable.
