I don't live in Frederick and work even further away so I relied on weekend appointments for my services. Unfortunately, it seems that more often than not she is unavailable on the weekends due to using those times for teaching others in providing lash services. I drove an hour to the office, arrived on time, and found the business closed. I waited outside for over an hour in nearly 100-degree weather, sending text messages and trying to find out what was happening. No one contacted me to let me know the appointment had been canceled. Eventually, I was informed that the owner had experienced a life-threatening medical emergency. I truly sympathize with that, and I sincerely hope she has made a full recovery. Medical emergencies happen, and I don't fault anyone for that. What I do fault is the complete lack of communication. If a business is unable to operate due to an emergency, there should be a process in place to notify clients who are driving long distances and taking time off work. Instead, I spent over three hours traveling and waiting, with no explanation. Unfortunately, after expressing my frustration over the situation, I received an email from the owner stating that she would no longer provide services to me because the tone of my communications was "shocking" and not consistent with the professional relationship she strives to maintain. I respectfully disagree. My frustration was directed at being left stranded outside a closed business with no communication--not at someone's medical emergency, which I didn't even know about while I was waiting. I believe clients deserve timely communication, especially when appointments are canceled unexpectedly. While I appreciate the refund and genuinely wish the owner continued good health, the way this entire situation was handled--and the follow-up response I received--left me feeling that my experience as a client was dismissed rather than understood. I hope the business develops a better emergency communication process so that no future client has to experience what I did.

My first lashes appointment was with Fernanda and they looked great, but they all fell out when I went on vacation and my face was assaulted by the wind and salt water of the Pacific - I also didn't know you have to wash them to prevent oily buildup, so yeah. I came back two weeks later with literally no extensions left and had to pay for a full set all over again rather than a touch-up. I do wish they had told me about needing to wash them, because I really wasn't provided with the full aftercare instructions the first time I got them. But, now I know. They sell a special foam wash and gentle applicator for the soap here, which I recommend purchasing. My second session was with Viktoriia, who is absolutely incredible. Mynx & Inks is definitely out of the way if you live in DC, but it's worth it for the fair pricing and amazing quality.

Simone made the experience non-intimidating, comfortable, and enjoyable. Her professionalism throughout the process will have me coming back for another service. The warmed table is a nice touch as well. Her questions and suggestions guided me throughout the process. Since it was my first time, I decided to keep it simple and follow my natural brow shape.
