Pearl Nails has been around for a long time, it's run through various owners. While the owners have been new, the polish isn't. If you opt for a classic manicure, you are paying high-end prices for polish that's been sitting on the shelves three owners back. It's not unusual to see the technicians pour acetone into the polish bottles to extend the life of the polish or so it's not goopy. Their cleaning practices are also questionable. If you select gel polish, be careful when placing your hands in the driers. You can feel that the inside pad to place your hands hasn't been cleaned for a long time or ever. Overall the people are nice but it's clear they cut corners, more money in the owners pocket while ripping off her customers. It's a hygienic nightmare. I'm not sure why nail salons are not inspected, they should be. read more

This nail salon is a pretty far drive from my home, but it is worth the drive to Frederick to get my nails done with Lilian! I have been coming here for the past three years just for her. I love how she does my nails, either dip or gel nails--they always come out perfect! My friend got her nails done ombre style and they looked amazing. Staff is friendly and the salon is clean. It pains me to write this because they are such nice people while you are a customer. Like night and day difference in attitudes from other nail salons. But on my third visit here, I got nail fungus all over my fingernails so bad that I had to visit several drs to try to treat it. I called them and they accused me of having it on my feet and spreading it to my own nails but that is not true. I have never had nail fungus in my life. The Dr said it will take months or even up to a year to get my nails back to normal. I wish I never went here. read more

I was overall pleased with this nail salon. Came here for manicures with a friend who's been going here for years. They're polite, gentle, and very well arranged. The finish on my dip powder nails is very splotchy though. The shape is perfect, the length is a little longer than i'm used to but it's fine. I did expect them to be shiny and sparkly, and they ended up having some weird stuff going on. And a couple of them have weird lumps on the side? So from far away they look great but up close, kinda questionable. If I was a bolder person I would have said something, and I know she would have fixed it. So that's on me. But again, overall I'm pleased with my look. Update...I went back and a top coat was put on that fixed the whole look. So I'm gonna change the 3 stars to 4! This is my favorite nail salon!! It shouldn't be called Pearl nails...it should be called pearly gates because this place is HEAVEN!! This place is located in a quiet shopping center off the golden mile but all the buzz is inside. It seems like a family owned business, once you walk inside you are instantly greeted and they know most of their clients name. I have been coming to this shop for years. I typically get my pedicure done by whoever is available and I get the spa pedicure. They cut my cuticles, scrape my feet, use scrub and they make my feet look brand new. The best part is..when I'm done, I get an amazing hot stone massage on my shoulders and upper back while I wait for my nail polish to dry on my toes. I only let Lilian touch my hands!!! She is literally the best hands down!!! I've always done gel polish because I am a nail biter but she persuaded me to do dip powder on my nails and the have such a huge selection of colors. This literally is the newest craze and it never chips, lift or break my nails. She is gentle on my hands and does the best polish. I needed a pamper day with a friend and we decided to stop by to get our nails done before running our errands. I believe this is a family owned business. The dad is this cute older gentleman like a bear who greets you when you walk in. He doesn't speak much English but just smile and say "hi". The mother is the head nail technician and she multi-task like an energizer bunny. I was amazed how much energy she has being an older lady who looks like she is in her 40s. Then the daughter, I think she is in her 30s is hilarious so outgoing and very engaging with all the clients. I forgot the daughter's name but she does a great polish job. I'm one who is very particular and I like how she was very detailed on her paint job. She will take her time with you but also very efficient with her skills. The nail salon also provides other services from waxing, massage, facials, and eye lash extensions. I heard a client getting her nails done say Mary does a great massage to get out all the knots. I went last minute to get my nails done at this salon that was suggested by a family friend. I also made an appointment an hour ahead of time as I was on my way home from work. I walked in and sat down and decided to get dip powder on my nails as I've been doing that for the past 3 years. BB was nice but I just don't think she carries good work in her nail care services. During my time sitting down she never my soaked my nails in a bowl or cut my cuticles, the sides of my nails/hands were covered in nail glue, the shape is nothing what I asked for (I wanted more of a natural rounded look & even asked twice & they still ended up square), every time my fingers were dipped in the container I thought my finger was going through a sharpener because she would squeeze each finger down into the powder against the side of the plastic rim (ouch), she never even took the tool to get the glue from under my nails out :-( So, now I'm walking around with chunks of glue under my nails. Usually, who I get my dip done by is a guy who takes expensive classes in Florida on new techniques for his clients. I've been told using clear GEL polish is NOT for DIP POWDER nails and that's what causes a lot of the cracking and lifting. & Unfortunately, I was in a rush on Friday and needed the closet salon I could get to. I wish I would've just waited now because 2 days later.... my entire thumb is lifting already. I'm so disappointed that I paid 50 dollars for this. I definitely won't be back. Update: (second picture) Only 7 days into having these nails and THEY'RE STILL PEALING! I will never go to this place again. I cannot believe these technicians use GEL clear polish on DIP POWDER. Do they not know these ingredients don't work with each other? (It reminds me of mixing oil into water) it just doesn't go!!!! I paid 50 dollars to have a janky nail job done. I can't wait to get these taken off later this week. I'm SO disappointed. Btw; I'm not rough with my nails at all.. I have a sit down job where I am on the computer majority of the time. I was searching for a good place to get dip powder and pedicure. I'm really picky ! So I got referred by my co worker to come see Lindsey. I came in and she helped me choose my dip color because I wasn't sure what color to get she was very professional explained to me that dip powder would be safe for my nails and . She kept making sure I was doing ok during the process which is nice I've never had someone check back in on me. Lindsey also did my pedicure and she was really gentle on my nails. Came to Pearl because of the yelp reviews and my normal place was too busy. I have never had a worse full set and spa pedicure. I've had acrylic for 10 years and I know what a good job is. Clearly this gentlemen has no experience with acrylic. See the pics 6 days after having them done. They were just as bad 1 day after. They were thick, the polish turned white by the end of the first day around the edges. He didn't get under my nail tip where it clumps so it was chipping all week. The spa pedicure was a normal pedicure. Clearly she was in a hurry with an appointment and didn't provide the spa pedicure. I heard good things about Pearl but it must be only a couple that are good. i came here last week for a manicure and pedicure. my manicurist told me the manicure would be $50 for dip and $32 for a pedicure. Another woman checked me out and charged me $102. I explained that i was told it was 50 & 32 and she said something along the lines of, "no dip is 50, pedicure is 47." i got a basic pedicure, not a spa one, and that still didn't add up to 102. i just signed, tipped and left, but this place is outrageously expensive. I will definitely not be back, which is unfortunate because Lin did a great job. I usually go to princess nails and it is about $65-70 for gel/dip mani and pedicure, I will definitely be sticking with them from now on. read more

Used to be the only place I would go. Has gone downhill. Salon is extremely dirty. The polish is watered down and chips/peels within a couple of days. They insist we carry and bring in every time the nail file and if we don't we get criticized. My last few visits have been terrible. Very sad to say. So excited to finally be getting a pedicure. The shop was very clean and everyone wore masks. I was asked to hand sanitize upon entry which I felt was great. Lillian worked wonders on my feet. I asked for a basic pedicure and she tried (very nicely) to offer me the spa pedicure, I declined. But while working on me she pointed out that my feet really needed exfoliating which was so true, so I went for it. The coconut scrub smelled so good. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. read more

I was looking for a new nail place in Frederick since driving down to MoCo to my old trusty just didn't seem feasible. So of course I looked to Yelp. Pearls Nails was everything you want in a nail salon- clean, fast, thorough, and well-priced. I opted for the standard pedicure ($28), and Ivy did an excellent job. The leg and foot massage that came with the pedicure was just what I needed for my tired summer feet! The other reviews are 100% correct- you get a ridiculously relaxing head and shoulder massage while you sit at the drying station. Talk about service! Everyone was friendly and professional. I also noticed they use a new disposable liner for the pedicure tub for each client , which I truly appreciate. Some of these places can be really grimy, but Pearls was the opposite. It also looked like they had an enormous amount of gel colors, so I'll be looking into that next time! Overall, a great experience, and I'll definitely be back! read more

Pretty good pedicure and nice massage chairs and shoulder massage while drying. However, I don't think I will go back. I didn't notice sanitizing of the tools, she pulled out a used buffer for my nails and I do not like the grater being used either - especially just being pulled out of the drawer and not seemingly sanitized. I can't say for sure things weren't sanitized fully between customers but I do not think they were and would prefer a cleaner establishment. read more

I went here with my mother for manicures. The time spent and skill with which it was done is the reason the review is still three stars. Within two hours my French gel manicure was turning brown in the sun. I went back in and was told I must have gotten something on my nails. As I had not been touching anything, but had been out shopping for wood furniture, I assured her this wasn't the case. She reluctantly scrubbed my nails with acetone, taking off the color, and again said it must be something I got on them. Acetone takes off the top layer of the gel, so I asked to have the clear coat re-applied. She did re apply it, but by the next day, the gel is cracking and flaking. Something went wrong with what was used on my nails, my mother's nails, done the same way by a different lady are fine. I am very disappointed. I live farther away, or I would have gone back again to have them re-done. read more

I have been going to Pearl Nails for over 5 years. In December I booked an appt for two family members from Germany and myself.for two pedicure/manicure and a massage for myself. I arrived early and paid for the family members I was asked if I want King treatment I said no it's not in my budget just the normal manicure /pedicure. It was like a singing quartet when they all said "you should do king "I said no just normal one they said "awe you do king right? " I repeated myself again ,no! I finally said how much is my total, paid my bill and went back for my massage After my hour and a half massage, I walked out to find the two family members sitting there saying to me we upgraded to the king service! I was so shocked that they even knew of such a service since they both live in Germany and they don't have such thing there. ( I know as I've lived there for 8years) I said I'm not paying for an upgrade the ladies said "oh yea they wanted King " I said I told you it wasn't in my budget that's why I settled the bill before they arrived so they could enjoy the service as a special treat on me. That I could afford. I know they brought this up to them saying "you want to upgrade to king?? "Just as I was pressured when arriving. I was so upset that they would do this to my guests who didn't know the difference, and to me, a loyal customer for YEARS!!! I will NEVER step foot in this HIGH-pressure nail salon again! I love everything about Pearl!!! It is at the very end of the golden mile so its kind of a hike for most, but its worth it. The staff is so friendly, the prices are very reasonable and everything is clean and it doesn't have a strong chemical smell. It was my first experience here and I came here off recommendation and I loved my nails and the person who did it he was very nice and I think he was the manager. Although I was very angry at some employee because although we are at a pandemic I took my daughter to get her nails done and she is underage , i felt bad to leave my daughter in there alone but I waited in the car , then come to find out that this woman and her husband or boyfriend went inside and her partner was not getting treated for anything yet he was allowed to stay inside . I will not be going back although the man who did my daughters nails was a great guy but I did not like that treatment.
