I had Brandon Bike Works do a tune up on my bike. When I got home I saw that a tire was going flat. When I called the store, I was told to bring it right over and they fixed the problem immediately. My 96 year old dad just recently lost his driver's license and he has been so depressed. We bought him a 26" bike so he could go to the gym a mile away but he was having trouble riding it, even with heavy duty training wheels. I live out of state, so my dad tried to adjust them himself and couldn't get it right. We called Jose at Brandon Bikeworks and when he heard my mom and dad had no way to get the bike to him, he went to their house. They needed another part and he told them he would return to fix the bike once we obtained the new part. Well, despite the fact that we did not buy the bike or the heavy duty adult training wheels from his shop, Jose was good for his word. The needed part arrived this week and Jose returned to their house to install it. He also made additional adjustments to the chain/pedals when my dad told him it was hard going uphill! Would never buy anything or do any work there, the people working there did not even want to look at assembling my bike and were not helpful I asked for the price they said 79 dollars I believe the point is they don't even want to look at the bike I offered 40 dollars for a 20 minute job for 80 doing 3 bikes 240 per hour? Is this a car auto repair? Sorry I will not spend 1 dollar here. I asked to buy the tools to setup the bike and mysteriously they don't know which wrench I needed for my bike lol. Of course they wanted me to set up with them but since they are stuck on their bronze package pricing not on individual bikes i will not use them. By the way my bike is over $1,000 bike if you tell me you need more than 20 minutes to put the wheels on handle bars and seat I need to see your work. No it's not a good review especially for the very poor lack of attention as I said they never even looked at the bike and said the price before looking at the bike. Jose, his wife and staff offer the best of service! Being new to biking for fitness, they were very informative and thorough when it came to helping me choose the right bike. About a week or so later, I had a mechanical issue with my it (I had taken the tire off and did not put it on correctly). Being that I live in close proximity to the store, Jose and his wife offered to come by my house and help me trouble shoot the problem, which I greatly appreciated. I'm new to the area, and stopped into the shop one day while I was at the Winthrop Town Center shops browsing around. This shop is great, and the service is outstanding. The day I first stopped in I met the owner, Jose, and he had just took over the shop a week prior. His enthusiasm about biking is infectious, and he obviously takes such pride in his shop and the customer service he shows clients. I enjoy biking (though I have taken quite a long hiatus...until now!) , and I plan to bike more, but am intimidated since I don't have the knowledge or skills of enthusiasts. Jose is so good at settling those nerves, and is happy to share his knowledge of anything bike related, as well as info on local trails and bike groups. I have since had my Trek bike tuned up by the shop and bought a bike helmet and a lock (they also sell accessories). They seem to have a good selection of different types of bikes - mountain, hybrid, road. I generally don't write too many Yelp reviews, unless I find a business/restaurant really, really good...or dangerously, really bad. This place makes the really really good list. Go. read more

I took my bike to Brandon Bikeworks for a tune up. I thought my bike needed some real attention, because it had been some time since it had been worked on, so I chose their mid level service package. The service writer did not seem very knowlegible or interested in my concerns when checking me in. Upon picking up my bike it did not look like much had been done to it and my first ride confirmed my suspicions. One of my major concerns when I brought the bike in was the shifting and now it actually shifts worse than before. It seems like the store only caters to very inexperienced cyclists who do not know any better. Also, I found the selection of accessories limited and couldn't find anything I would want to buy, again a very basic store. Given the stores location I was expecting much more. Truly disappointing. With the recent developments of the Trek and Lance Armstrong doping scandal I would think that Trek dealers would be very concerned about customer service. I for one will not by another Trek product after feeling misled by them for so many years. read more
