I was training for a marathon in September and was suddenly injured. After going to physical therapy for 3 months, I decided it would be best to have a pro check me out. Dr. Heinrich was recommended to me and after my first experience I was sold. He's extremely personable and cares about getting you back in to performing your sport. Dr. Heinrich is fast too. He moved quick through my exam, but was extremely thorough in explaining my injury and the timeline of my recovery. Milwaukee Orthopedics works with a lot pro athletes in the area and I could tell that Dr. Heinrich is well versed in his field. He's been doing it for a while, so he'll give you the real deal. My X-ray tech and I shared a few good laughs. Extremely friendly desk receptionists. I'm glad I went here for treatment.

Fast forward to 2023 and he did an extension of my fusion. I knew something was wrong when fentanyl was not helping the pain. I did a second and third opinion and based on multiple imaging reports found out that Dr Dagam placed the screws too deep thus they were pushing into my spinal column and had cut rods from my previous surgery. In March of this year I underwent an extensive surgery removing the old, misplaced hardware and had it all replaced and extended due to the damage. I can no longer work, enjoy the activities I used to do daily and will always regret seeking him out.

At the end of it all I have permanent nerve damage in my right leg and was forced to medically retire from the military. She was feeling fine after a stroke scare (it turned out to be just a TIA) but the sending ER physician wanted a neurologist to follow up after the MRI in the morning. Of course I appreciate the caution, but one has to wonder when the bill arrives, was this because we have good medical insurance? We still got a pretty horrifying bill after. But that's not really the worst of it. So we arrived at night, and registration was nice but we were already tired from the long trek from parking. Then we got directed to another location with an odd name that did not describe the overnight stay she was being admitted for. We immediately hit security and we didn't have the passes required to get through, but the registration desk had already closed. A committee meeting of security and we finally got through and were sent unescorted on a very complicated hike. The destination had no signs, we ended up in a locked corridor that only led to outside. We walked around the outside to the Emergency Room where the security officer directed us across the street to a parking lot, to an overhead bridge which led to the same elevator to the same locked corridor as before. We walked outside again, ended up back where we originally started, a new security officer who had to be talked into letting us in and this time we got escorted to the correct destination, which was actually in the locked corridor we were in, the entrance door was labeled with a completely different name that where we were sent, and this strange room was dark and resembled the hospital wards I experienced in the poor Third World nation of Sri Lanka. It was frightening, but now we had marched over a mile with a heavy overnight bag. The two nurses on duty were very good, but needed to be briefed on her case, NOBODY reads "charts" any more so it's up to the patient and family to have a very good knowledge of prior treatment and medical history. The next day, we were relieved to hear that there was nothing to detect, she got sent home with a heart monitor that again had negative findings (whew), leaving the diagnosis of Transient Ischemic Attack. Every new physician and nurse involved, and there were many, had to be briefed on her immediate and pertinent past medical history because NOBODY reads the "chart," and hence she got stuck (literally) with adhesive for the monitor which she's allergic to, and got a bad rash. I did try to tell them, but they don't record these things or don't read the records. Then the bill came, seems an awful lot for 1) a stay in a primitive ward under construction and 2) me doing a lot of their work repeating her history instead of them reading her notes and record. If she did have stroke, the long long walk would have caused her harm. You don't have much choice in hospitals in situations like this, but maybe you'll be forewarned and better prepared this way.

After waiting an hour past our appointment time, he spent approximately 5 minutes (NOT kidding) with us. He came in the room, said "any headaches" (to which my son responded "yes"), with Dr. Reichert's response of "I'm not doing surgery because you don't need it." Didn't bring up his MRI results or discuss them, didn't talk about any of his structural abnormalities, didn't ask "how are you," didn't listen to any concerns, didn't ask if we had questions, kept tapping on the exam table - slouched and leaning back in the office chair - completely unprofessional, cocky, disrespectful, NO bedside manners, treated us like we didn't know anything (I myself have a medical degree as an NP), didn't even assess my son(!), opened the door, and walked us out of the room. I would NEVER recommend this provider to absolutely anyone. I have no idea who would rate him so highly, but I really hope that you look to other providers to have an understanding of what one would be like if they had their patient as the focus of attention, during an office visit that I am paying for, related to a pretty significant issue.

Not what I expected. Exceeded my expectation…read more I had to complete and bring some paperwork (medical history, etc.) and a CD with two CT scans. I thought it better to submit them prior to the app't so the Dr. might have a chance to review BEFORE my visit. How could he go through all that and the scans during the app't, which I expected to be 15-20 minutes? The doctor saw me within 10-15 minutes of my appointment time and spent over 45 minutes speaking (and listening) to me, doing a brief physical exam, and then reviewing, in detail, the CT scans of my cervical and lumbar regions. He didn't review the scan in advance. He spent the time to review them with me. I was not there to proceed with any particular action or surgery. I was there to CONSULT and strategize whether to take action now (I'm 67), or wait some years, maybe 10 or whatever, to live with my ongoing condition/s (I've had a discectomy and fusion already) and take action at some later date. Dr. King understood all that, and considering the complete Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) I have, he recommended we take a wait and see approach on the surgery. He did refer me to Dr. Doniparthi in the Pain Management clinic to again CONSULT the possibility of an injection or trigger point therapy. (I have seen her more than once before and had injections before). I did follow up with her the very next day and her assessment was basically the same - no assurance that any injection would help... might help, might not. So... wait and see as long as I could continue to function as is. I was very pleased that I was listened to, that a conservative approach was considered and taken, and will return to Dr. King, if and when, I deteriorate to needing some intervention.

Let me just say that I just retired from the military and have never been to another VA Hospital…read morefor care. However, I have been to other hospitals and to be quite honest I was not expecting this place to be very good. My providers have been great at active listening and then ensuring all my concerns are heard. There is also a resident there that saw me the other day after I had emergency dental surgery elsewhere and she was amazing. She even let me know that she did not like some of the symptoms I had been having but wanted to keep an eye on them. Told me to call back if they keep persisting. Ran a blood test to see if I had an active infection and that I should have the results the next day. I kid you not, I got in the car and about 15 minutes later my Dr. called and let me know that my labs were fine. That's impressive! They also have valet parking which is very helpful since it can be a bit of a nightmare trying to find parking there. But everyone I talked to or interacted with there was nothing short of kind and helpful so far.

I've always received good care and treatment from the staff at the VA Zablocki Medical Center. The…read morespecialists primarily come over from Froedtert Medical to treat Vets, and they're some of the best anywhere. The building is showing its years, but the equipment is all current, and the staff are up to date on all current medical technology and procedures. I know, I do my own research and ask questions, which I think prudent when trusting to any medical system anywhere, anytime your health is at stake They've saved my life at least once already!
