We had a combination gas and electric light from our circa 1895 home that we needed shortened and rewired. They did a great job at a reasonable price. Friendly people. As an example when I was checking out a call came in and the owner spent maybe 60 seconds answering a question. He then hung up and apologized for not running my credit card yet as that machine also used his phone line. I bought a restored chandelier here recently after being drawn-in by a decent collection of antique fixtures (some restored some in acquired condition) on display. The shop is small, but there are some gems to be found. From what I understand the turn-over is quick so check-in every couple of months. They were very reasonable on the price and customized the chain length for me on the spot -- I was willing to wait on this rainy day. A few other customers came in while I waited with an array of objects to be polished/restored from Egyptian Vases to Chrome fenders for a car buff's pet project, so they can truly handle almost anything. The owner of this shop of treasures is a treasure himself! We found the perfect gift online for someone very dear to us; unfortunately, the antique French accent lamp did not survive shipping! I'd been all over Washington DC and Northern VA with no luck finding a vintage replacement socket cluster cap, riser and finial to fit a 1920's brass and French art glass lamp. All of the places I visited - modern lamp sales/repair shops and antique shops specializing in brass items and lamp parts - had nothing to fit; each of them recommended replacing the socket cluster with modern replacement parts that would have looked totally out of place. Don at the Brass and Copper Shop to the rescue! He spent just fifteen minutes rummaging through his collection of parts to find a vintage cap that fit and to fashion a custom-sized, adjustable vintage riser with finial. It was awesome! Amazing service from a guy who is really knows his stuff, highly skilled, and very reasonably priced. It's a bit of a drive from my home in VA, but well worth the trip. I can't believe that the brass desk lamp I got back from The Copper and Brass Shop is the same one I dropped off. It looks that good!
