Another Mexico City gem - Brassi. Giving Paris cafe vibes, this lovely little spot was a hit to celebrate the end of 2024. We sat at a sidewalk table, and people watched (a little) and enjoyed their outstanding wine selection. Got a bottle of Unico red - lovely start to the meal. The Iberico Ham plate reminded us of Spain. Sliced right then and there. Their sea bass was delicious and beautifully plated. They had some fish tacos - but they were delicious and elevated. Disappointing Experience Despite a Promising Start We had high hopes for brunch at Brassi in Mexico City, but unfortunately, the experience fell well short of expectations. When we first arrived, management declined to seat us and asked that we return in an hour. Fair enough -- we did. On our return, a very gracious female server finally seated us and brought drinks while we waited for the kitchen to open. Her professionalism and kindness were the highlight of the visit. Once the kitchen opened, we ordered the sliders and a cheese board. The sliders arrived cold, and the cheese board followed about 15 minutes later. By that point, any sense of service had disappeared -- saying the table was ignored would be putting it politely. The portions were extremely small, and for a bill totaling over $1,400 MXN, the value simply wasn't there. For a restaurant without a Michelin star (or Michelin-level service), the pricing and lack of attention were disappointing. Brassi has potential -- the setting is lovely and the menu reads well -- but the execution and management of service during our visit left much to be desired. read more

Absolutely! By far the best service I have ever had from any restaurant in any country, and it reminds me of a lot of Paris. They have live music every night. And everything on the menu is outstanding. The management and the wait staff are outstanding and go above and beyond. 10/10! read more

Brassi was a quick bite to eat stop for us, but this place was busy! We managed to snag a nice table outside, and the servers were all on getting our table set. This is where I learnt they always come out at breakfast and lunch in the city with a pastry assortment for you to chose your pastry to start your meal with. I kinda loved this idea! We chose a fabulous Chocolate croissant, a nice buttery brioche with butter and jam, and a plain croissant. All nice and fresh. We had a bit of a language barrier...so was hard to order. But I think we managed in the end. We got our lattes and cappuccinos that went great with our pastries. We shared a chicken enchilada plate, with verde sauce, which was nice and tangy. The food hit the spot, and filled us up. Nice quaint cafe style set up. Plenty on the menu to chose from, but again not in English do helps if you know Spanish! Every plate I saw come out to other tables looked delicious. Brassi was a perfect afternoon break for us. Loved the outdoor seating. read more

We were walking around in search of a happening restaurant with good food options. And let me tell you Brassi did not disappoint. We had 4-5 different dishes and shared. Great place to eat the food was great. The only issue we had then guys behind us keeped on smoking cigars and the smell was horrible and hard to enjoy your lunch. The ambience here is the best of Polanco. We came here on a rainy evening but they kept us dry and it was very romantic. The wine selection is great, the ahi tuna steak and lasagna were excellent and the service was top notch. Would definitely put this in the top 5 restaurants in the Polanco area. read more

We won't return. We were seated at a table inside, but beside one of the sliding doors to the outdoor seating. We had just started our salads when we were hit with a lot of cigarette smoke. The breeze outside was directing all of the smoke from a table outside. We mentioned this to one of the managers and he slid that door closed. However, it appeared a second manager came by after a few moments and opened the door. We told him that the door had been closed because of the smokers outside. He said they needed the door to be open for the waiter going out to those tables. We responded that the law requires that the smoking section is separate from the rest of the restaurant. He still wouldn't close the door. I began to feel very upset because cigarette smoke gives me a terrible headache, but more importantly, we had a baby with us. And why should our meal be ruined? Either move us to a table that isn't in the direct path of smoke or close the door. Plus, it was one table of chain-smokers causing the problem. Once they left, the door could be opened again. Why were we being treated like the problem? Needless to say, we asked for the check. The food had been attractive looking, but wasn't actually very good. A very good friend suggested we visit Brassi for drinks and dinner. When we arrived the servers were unwelcoming. We decided to get a table anyway but once we were seated the treatment got worse. The servers were standing off from the table rolling their eyes and clearly talking about us. I decided not to order since there was no way I was going to give this establishment any money after being treated so rudely. My friend just ordered a cocktail which was watered down. We did call over the manager before leaving to share with him the rude behavior of the servers. He was very apologetic and offered us to return for better service. I was looking for a light brunch place to sit and have some coffee. The restaurant was not busy at all and it looked like a nice spot. I was told that I needed to order food in addition coffee in order to be served. Okay... I opted for a fruit plate with yogurt. Waitress said let me check and see if that counts as a food. She comes back and says no, that I would need to order more food in order to be served. I thanked her and left. I've enjoyed the food and service at every restaurant during my visit to Mexico City except this one. This place made me feel very unwelcomed. At the end of the day, it's not about the price or the taste, but the principle. Walked in about 5:30 pm on a Saturday night, and was sat immediately. The placed was packed. The beef filet sandwich and sweet and sour salmon were really tasty. The sauce looked a lot like ketchup, but it didn't taste exactly like ketchup. The pinapple/avocado salsa was wonderful. The bread was delicious. They brought us sliced avocado for our baby, quickly so she could eat before us. We have noticed for months, that this place is always busy, and we wanted to check it out. Great ambiance. This was a great find. Was walking around Polanco, by the Intercontinental Hotel, with my boss an decided to stop for a light dinner and a beer. The atmosphere is great, locals seem to go to see and be seen. The staff is very attentive, which has been the normal during my visit in Mexico City. Great service, tasty food. I travel to Mexico City a lot and always seem to end up at the Brassi. They have the absolute best chilaquiles anywhere. I can't even order them from other places after eating them here. The mole is also outstanding and now that I think of it, when I take the family for lunch, everyone eats spectacularly well. The food here was okay. If the appetizers had come before the meal it would have been fine, however they never showed up and then were served after we asked about them...after the main course. Our waiter then gave a terrible excuse as to why NONE of the appetizers came: "the ceviche fell." We waited an hour for food without drink service. I had to bus plates off our table onto the bar and hand them to random servers because nobody would clear our table. We had to order drinks numerous times before they were served. The waiter added tip without us telling him to. When we called him out about the added gratuity he told us it was standard. After we argued with him about the tip he returned it to us in cash. We asked to speak to his boss and his boss never showed. Worst service I have ever had. read more

Our worst meal in the Mexico City's most posh neighborhood. I'm a sucker for corner restaurants with patios so you can consume life while you dine. There's a shortage of corner restaurants in the states so it's always nice to eat at one when traveling. They tend to be more touristy for the same reasons as above but still worth it in the obvious way. Polanco is a nice "affluent" area and has no shortage of quaint (good curb appeal) restaurant options. We got seated and then had to wait about 20' before any server acknowledged us and that was after telling another server, then the hostess and finally the security/ manager looking dude. The menu an eclectic mix of French, Italian and American (tourists). The H ordered a "classic clam chowder" to try it out and it was anything but "classic"- basically a carrot/corn chowder with clams thrown in before they bring it out to the table. The calamari was also equally unimpressive as it came already sitting in a bed of tomato sauce- what's the point of eating something fried if it's already wet when it's served? The spaghetti bolognese was tasteless and the tagliatelle carbonara so rich in cream and butter I couldn't eat it. They offered to get me something else but I was kind of over my Brassi experience by then. They didn't take it off the menu. I'm sure there's better in Polanco but we didn't experience it. An Italian restaurant in the heart of Polanco, Mexico DF. I went with a colleague of mine of which we had a classic lime margarita to start the meal off. Very good with a nice flavors to kick off the meal. For salad I had a classic Italian dish of tomatoes and cheese. This was quite yummy and I love the fact they give you the opportunity to choose how much balsamic vinegrette you can put on the dish. My final dish was a meat lasagna. I normally do not order lasagna's in a restaurant as I never like them. This one was delicious with a perfect combination of cheese, noodles, meat and sauce....I like sauce and this one had quite a bit. read more
