This place was so nice, I ate there twice!! I was in Mexico City for a week, and as much as I love Mexican food, I was ready for something different and as usual, Italian food was calling! I took a stroll in the historic district And came across a charming Italian restaurant called Nonsolo. The prices were moderate, the place looked inviting and so I decided to take a chance. It was my lucky day! Nonsolo Is right in the heart of the historical Zolaco. It has an old world charm and an inviting menu. As soon as I walked in I got a really nice vibe and liked my waitress. She spoke a little English and I spoke a little Spanish, and between the two of us we were able to communicate. I'm not so crazy about a QR code menu, but this seems to be standard fare these days. It was hard getting a signal on my phone to view the menu, so she signed me into their internet Wi-Fi and then there was no problem. I ordered pasta with clams in a white clam sauce. And of course, a Coke zero! While I was waiting, I enjoyed the bread and butter and taking in all the people strolling by. The pasta was really delicious and I hated to see the bowl empty. I sat for a while looking at the people in the street and took in the wonderful ambiance and that delicious meal before I headed to Ballet Folklorico. I would say my only criticism was that they charge 45 pesos for a small Coke zero which is the equivalent of $2.50. The pasta dish itself which was around $13 US dollars was well worth it. That was so delicious. Considering I almost always order an Italian dish with marinara sauce, it's a big compliment to Nonsolo to say I really loved the meal lol The place had been on my mind for 2 days and last night when it was my final night in Mexico City I decided to go back one more time and taste something with red sauce! I had spaghetti bolognese and it was also delicious. This time I decided to sit at a table outside and it was very enjoyable looking at all the passerbys and also I got entertained by a young man singing "My Way" in Spanish and a guitarist who played some traditional Mexican tunes. I gave them each a tip which I know they appreciated. After sitting for a while and enjoying the meal and experience, I headed over to the Palace of Fine Arts to see the national symphony play. All in all a great evening! So there you have it folks. If you get tired of tacos and quesadillas and tortillas, head over to Nonsolo and have a wonderful Italian experience! We stumbled into this restaurant on our adventure in downtown Mexico City during the World Cup. What a hidden gem! After having consumed so much wonderful Mexican food we opted for something different and this little Italian restaurant hit the mark! Wow from the Mussels, to the pastas we were very impressed by the quality of food and the authenticity of the dishes. We ordered the mussels as an app, which were plentiful fresh mussels in a white wine sauce, we also ordered the rustic salad, that was a nice salad with goat cheese bread, Spanish Jamon and a balsamic vinaigrette, we enjoyed the meat ravioli which were so delicate and tender. We also had a pasta with jumbo shrimp in a wonderful light red sauce. We also had a most delicious lemon chicken with capers. Everything we ordered really was so good. While visiting family in Mexico City, my dad and I found ourselves craving something other than Mexican food. We stumbled upon this pasta spot on a whim, not expecting much--but it completely surprised us. Our dishes were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Close to our hotel in Centro Historico is a small alley Italian spot with friendly service and a large pasta menu. The moment we sat down on their outdoor seating, they brought water for our puppy and a bread basket with butter, oil, vinegar and parmesan cheese. My five-year-old daughter loved her spaghetti and my pasta with mushrooms in a cream sauce was tasty! They sell all types of water and Pepsi products. read more

What a charming restaurant. Wonderful staff and well prepared, flavorful and inventive food. The entrees were properly sized and served piping hot. The polenta dishes were inspired and the Pesto pasta really unique--artichoke and walnut base. We enjoyed the wine selection recommended by our charming waitress. Surprise! the food is actually pretty good. Clean fresh salads. Octopus with cubed potatoes in a flavorful home made tomato sauce was delicious. Bambie had the tuna confit, made in house. She liked it a lot. I had the filled portobello mushroom with creamed spinach. It was okay, I gobbled it but wouldn't order it again. Fair selection of European / South American wines. 80 pesos per glass average. Good filling meal, 4 glasses of wine. Out the door for 650 pesos with tip. Went here on a Monday night, busy but not crowded. Service was good. Lots of 2 for 1 drink specials. We shared 2 appetizers, the polenta and the bruschetta. They timed the meal well. For our mains we had the 4 cheese ravioli and the smoked salmon fettuccine. They were tasty, I think the only thing that could have improved it was fresh cracked pepper instead of pre-ground. Bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar came with the meal. I had the beer special and my daughter and the white wine spritzer with a bit of strawberry (too sweet for me but she liked it) If there weren't so many choices in the city I would come here again. Since we are only here for 4 nights we are eager to try more options. Portion sizes were good. Would recommend to anyone who is craving pasta and on a modest budget. read more

This is a hidden gem tuck way in the heart of El Centro.
