As I began asking more and more women about their experience, I found every single one had a story of sub-par treatment at Cheshire Medical Center.

I was scheduled to have upper and lower endoscopies done. It took me over six months to get an appointment. When procedure day arrived, I was wheeled into the operating room only to see an unfamiliar face. I had never met this doctor before, and didn't even know her name. She insulted me as I was being put under. I woke in recovery and told I'd have an appointment to go over the results in three months. That was the soonest they could get me in. I arrive to my confirmed appointment 15 minutes early as instructed. After 30 minutes of waiting a nurse informed me that Dr C was out ill and no one would see me. I later spoke with doctor only to find she called in at 0600 and informed staff she wouldn't be in for the day. No one told me nor did they give me an alternative appointment. I asked to have the doctor call me and was simply told "she'll call you tomorrow." No time was given. At 15:00 the following day I called and was told I had a phone appointment for 16:00. It would have been helpful to know that but I wasn't ever notified. At 17:30, an hour and a half after my appointment Dr C finally called only to say she'll see me in three months. Dr Cesar also said she called in at 06:00. When I spoke to Amanda Shamrock from Baystate Gastro, she threw Dr Cesar under the bus saying "She didn't call in until 09:15 and she was lying about calling in at 06:00 because no one got a message." Amanda then proceeded to blame the call center saying they were at fault. She did everything except apologize for their poor treatment. I then informed her I would be sending her a bill for the no call no show appointment I went to. That's when Amanda lost it and screamed that she was hanging up if I was going to threaten her. The staff is disrespectful of your time, including Dr Cesar, lie about each other, refuse to take any responsibility, and as I saw with Amanda, as she is completely unhinged. It's scary knowing a practice would allow someone who's that unprofessional to continue to work there. I would encourage everyone to find another gastroenterologist since this office is nuts! ***I've never even heard of this in my life but...I'm now getting crank calls from Baystate Gastro. I can only assume they're from Amanda. She's calling and hanging up when I answer. ***

Tracy at the operators' desk wouldn't make me an appt and had that worst bedside manner. She wouldn't even let me talk to my former doctor's office! I asked to speak with her collègue instead as I found her extremely unprofessional. So unprofessional in fact-- she hung up on me! Rude! This hospital panders for handouts and donations from the community. We have donated to the Hospital Fair Day most years - I've been a patient for 38 years but suddenly I'm not a patient anymore-- guess I won't be donating anymore either ‍

This was supposed to be the best care for my father after a fall. It was awful. They have signs…read moreeverywhere saying they want to involve family. They shut us out because my father had too many daughters. I do have to give a special shoutout to Shyla who advocated for him and was so amazingly kind. The doctors were incongruent week after week. His pain was dismissed. He lost almost 20 pounds in the first week and recorded as lost at the previous hospital, which was completely untrue. By the time he left he was not eating. They blamed everything on the patient and did little investigating. The nurse Christine should retire or find a new profession. While most of the staff was dismissive, she was downright mean. I found him asleep with his face in his dinner tray. He was afraid to drink because the staff never showed up in time to get him to the bathroom. Issues were reported to nursing staff but never relayed to the doctors. After several weeks of "rehab and care" my father died, still unable to move much or eat at all less than 2 months after discharge. If this is the best we can offer, healthcare is truly an abomination.

My…read moreeye doctor said I had low pressure, but Rioux and her assistant said the pressure was high (without a thorough exam). I was told drops or surgery were my only options. I wasn't comfortable with the entire experience - including the always full mini waiting room in a spare exam room. No sooner would one patient go in, two more would appear. I left feeling bullied (by Rioux's assistant) and questioning their diagnosis. I got a second opinion from another eye doctor - no glaucoma and normal pressure. Rioux and her team seemed more interested in seeing how much money they could make off my insurance company and I and they had very little concern for my eyes. I'm so grateful I refused the unnecessary drops and surgery!! I would NEVER let Rioux near my eyes again.

Dr. Rioux has always graciously explained any of my detailed questions to my personal satisfaction. My Glaucoma has required a mixed strategy over these years and my condition is now well controlled. Her regular examinations not only monitor my Glaucoma, but also watch for my hereditary possibility of macular degeneration, as well as any sign of diabetes. Dr. Rioux also performs surgeries in Springfield and staffs a number of Connecticut Valley clinics, besides Greenfield. If she is just out to make money, she'd never have the time to spend any of it! The major part of her waking life seems to be dedicated to her patients. I am 65 now, and am headed for cataract surgery, with her. I have absolute faith in her ability and look forward to being able to see correctly, again.
