A sausage in a bun is the perfect meal to have while shopping in the market. But this isn't any old kind of sausage, we're talking Bratwursts. You can get spicy, mild, or cheese with mustard, tomato relish, onions or shredded cheese. The skin had that satisfying pop when I bit into it. The sauerkraut didn't taste like the stuff you get out of a jar, which is usually very vinegary, it was more like a mild, warm braised cabbage. One of the best bratwurst ever to go beond my lips. I had like the spicy brat, nicely seasond with a great snap to the outer casing when you bite into it, topped with spicy mustard and sourkraut. They have several different finds of Brats with lots of topping choices. I tried it because it had the biggest line when I entered the market and I guess there was a good reason why. read more

Cons: location, long line The Bratwurst Shop is a regular stop of mine, almost every time I visit Queen Vic Market I end up getting a bratwurst and a coffee. I usually get a large coffee and the spicy bratwurst, loaded up with American mustard, cheese, sauteed onions and TONS of sauerkraut. They won't skimp on the toppings or sauce, and the bratwurst are heartily sized. I've never had a bad bratwurst here, nor have I ever had to wait more than 2 minutes to receive my order. To newcomers that may be put off by the large line, fear not! The staff are quick and extremely efficient, you won't be waiting very long! The only issue I have with the shop is that it's difficult to get a table to sit and eat, so be prepared to eat and shop instead! One of the best food shops at the market, and a great value too! I only wish they were in the food court section, where there isn't such a hectic crowd of people. read more

I went here based on my husband telling me I had to try it, I definitely wasn't disappointed. The line is quite intimidating but goes really fast and the menu choices are quite simple. I'm not much of a sauerkraut fan so I ended up getting it on my bratwurst and then removing it. We had just the plain simple pork beef mixture that's not spicey at all and it was delicious. OK So how can you even do to Queen Vic Market and not walk past this shop. You can smell it from a mile away! Its pretty much your what it says the Bratwurst shop! They are always cooking some Bratwurst here and by far has to be the best in Melbourne. The lines are always long but well worth the wait. You can try your traditional ones or even the fancy ones with chilli and all sorts of Bratwurst. The food here is always fresh as i mentioned they are always cooking! The bread rolls are good and you know they don't cheap out and use leftovers. So if you go the Queen Vic Market make sure you head to this little shop it will not disappoint! read more
