Everytime I travel overseas, I am determined to taste test the McDonald's. I also found out the McDonald's app does not work outside the United States. The Aussies have their own version and I can't bankroll points feom today's purchase. The food is legitimate, Big Mac was well made, and the service was super quick. No boozey trip into the city is complete without a trip to Swanston St Maccas. It is essential to stop in on the way home to grab some burgers, fries and maybe a sneaky nugget or two to fill the void and try and stop the hangover from hell! If you won't go for the food, then the people watching at the early hours of the morning is just as enticing. People from all walks of life walk in and out and you can feast your eyes on the curiosities that Melbourne has to offer. The staff are always friendly considering it would be a nightmare of a job. Arrived in Melbourne mid-October of '14 -- a time that coincided with the Jehova's Witness Convention. Went to Woolies to get some cheap water, but they had sold out -- thanks to the aforementioned conventioneers (assuming). Decided to 'upgrade' to a cheap McDonald's meal instead. Met a cashier in this establishment who invited me into her cartoon bubble of a conversation. (I was hip to that convo, with such a cute young lady chirping away.) Being in a rather titillated and festive mood, I danced around some shameless people who had apparently reached rock, er, floor bottom as I exited. About 3 weeks later I arrived in the same busy location with a notion to buy 2 $1 Frozen Cokes as to beat the heat. I noticed that same cute little number was on duty, so I cued up accordingly. But then the tragic but all-too-common news would make its way straight to my face from my fleeting obsession, "Sorry, the machines are out of order. What are you gunna do with your life now, she exclaimed?" Pretending to be flabbergasted, I responded, "I don't know. I'm gonna have to google it." A "bye" from her that lasted about 4 seconds was the last word ever spoken between us, but her free and easy tone still resonates with me to this day. Soooo... it's kind of a funny story. But that'll come later. First, the objective review: 1 star off because it always gets a bit dodgy and crowded in here. The crowd it attracts are a bunch of drunk people being loud and obnoxious as they do and leaving a big mess everywhere. The lines can get decently long also. Pros: ~ It is one of the larger McDonald's open all throughout the night with upstairs seating and a McCafe. ~ Convenient location in the city so it's really awesome for a cheap and quick snack. But back to my funny story. The time was about 5 in the morning and I just spent a night out with my friends wandering around the city having a blast and we started getting cold, hungry, and needed a place to stay until the trams start running again. We passed by this McDonald's and to our disappointment, there were a row of chairs blockading the entrance with a security man standing out front. They were apparently cleaning for about an hour and were not letting anyone in... but then he beckoned us over, gave us free burgers, fries, and chicken nuggets that were left over from the day (but still tasty) and told us to sit down. My 3 friends and I were a "mixed security" of a tall and skinny Englishman, a tall and skinny Australian, a 5'1 Asian girl, and a 5'1 girl in a dress and heels. Pretty threatening huh? Our job? Sit in front of McDonald's letting people know that it's closed for cleaning. Our under-the-table payment? Free food. Great night. read more

McDonald's cops a lot of flack, and very unfairly (in my opinion). We can all bemoan the health detriments from regular consumption; the high fat and caloric content, high sugar, questionable meat composition (although recent efforts have been made to remedy this), etc., yes yes it all spells heart attack and obesity. However, people often overlook one important thing; Maccas is DELICIOUS. There are no less than 20 items on the Maccas menu that I would happily consume, from the salty and juicy quarter pounder to the sweet and crunchy apple pie. It's also brilliant value - for less than ten dollars, you can have a hearty feed. For less than 30 bucks you can feed a family of four. There is always ample seating and often free wifi. It's reliable and consistent, and in this world, these are both rare and valuable commodities. Get into it (in moderation). Five stars. read more

I walked into the store expecting to eat a nice lunch, little did i know it would be the worst day of my life. As soon as i walked in an employee body slammed me to the ground breaking my elbow and giving me a concussion, i proceeded to try and leave but as soon as i tried to get up the manager curb stomped me. i scrambled to find a seat, realising leaving wasnt an option. I ordered a big mac but it came filled with shit in it. I was going to ask an employee to make me a new one but i didnt wanna get injured. then out of the corner of my eye i saw a rat with a chefs hat on, i asked him if he was cooking the food and he squeeked to me, i'm assuming it was a yes. I showed him my big mac and we quickly whipped me up a new one. I was trying to eat my big mac when the rat came up to me and decided to piss all over my table. I went here for breakfast yesterday and what a disgrace! "Get you in, get you out" ideology obviously dominated the Staff who served me, despite the fact there few customers in the store. And then this one doesn't have drive-throughs to worry about. So, ordered a breakfast meal and a soy latte` drink to which the attendant looked confused. I then had to explain to her you get a drink with the meal. She then asked if I wanted a coke! C'mon, who drinks coke at breakfast? Is that even a breakfast option? After we bantered about my coffee, she sent me over with a receipt, to the McCafe to collect my coffee. Only then was it was brought to my attention that she had simply ascribed me a regular latte`, Not SOY MILK! The McCafe team were noticeably dis-pleased that they had to make up a fresh cup and I copped a bunch of attitude from an upstart staffer still on training wheels at coffee making (when she thought I didn't see, she rolled her eyes and screwed up her face ). Whilst waiting for this second cup, I noted I had actually been charged extra for this coffee despite it being integrated into the value meal. Well, at this point I was in no mood for more attitude so I let it go, and vowed to post my honest review here to inform you guys. Know this, I simply will never return. Unless you like sweet and greasy food, I would not recommend going here. The food is very greasy and fatty, which isn't something that I take pleasure in - simply, the food tastes cheap. I am not shaming anyone who likes this type of food, but this is just my opinion. The only thing I do like from McDonald's are their fries - besides that, I don't like it. read more
