I did not choose Braun, but had them bid on my move. Elsa & Lucas were great--helpful, informative, cordial and good with follow-up. I did not choose them because a neighbor of mine has a moving company and I got reviews from 5 different people who I know, who thought he was outstanding. Braun was my 2nd choice--although they came in higher. Read your bid carefully because they said if a 2nd truck was needed the bill would go up almost $2K. In November of this year my wife and I were planning a move from our home in Gaylordsville CT to a new home in Dover Plains NY. We decided to hire Braun Moving to move us. It couldn't have been a better choice for us. On the day of the move 3 young guys showed up with a truck and all their packing equipment. I didnt receive anything until Wednesday which said.... after careful review we cant provide service. I called & spoke w a nice woman (Elsa) who was honest w me & said he wasn't taking the job because I was getting other estimates & he couldn't match or beat them. Did a cross country move with Braun and their partners. Although most everything of value and importance arrived safely, many items were missing. Boxes of things simply disappeared - either through incompetence or theft. Braun assumed no liability or responsibility for these items - even when provided with photographic evidence. I don't write reviews often, but I needed to tell everyone how happy I was with my experience with Braun Moving company located in Newtown, CT. I have moved quite a few times before and this was probably the best company I have had. Doug came to do an inventory and he was wonderful as well as Elsa, who was my telephone contact and she worked with me to schedule the move, and when I had to change my move-out date, she was understanding and flexible. I also found the quote was a very reasonable price. The three movers in Connecticut were wonderful and so professional. They must train their movers well! The movers took great care with all of the furniture and belongings, wrapping everything so well, so that nothing could get damaged. Braun moved our household items went great until we got the final bill. Supposedly they worked for 14 hours instead of 11. So starting at 8am and ending at 8pm is fourteen hours. I must be bad at math because that seems like 12 hours to me? Oh but wait, there is an hour charge for travel and an extra charge for gas. Something that should have been in my quote to begin with. So they took an hour off, that's nice but it's still an extra hour that I should not have to pay for. The 5 movers told us that we wouldn't be charged any extra from our quote. They were happy when they got $100 a piece. Then Surprise... we were charged more. Be careful to see how many hours they put down at the end of the move! read more

Ugh. I called these guys for a move to a location that is only 90 minutes away. I have a three bedroom decent size house and wanted the full service-moving with packing. Guy comes out to my house. Spends an hour yacking it up. Then I get a text saying they won't move me because they have too many moves to do. LOL. A business that refuses to take new business because they are too busy is not any business worth using. I am sure this would have been close to $6500 or so-give or take. Such a disappointment! we used this company for a local move in the past and went back to them for our move down south. Our coordinator was on vacation the week of our pack and this is where it all went down hill. We contracted and paid for a one time delivery to find out the night before the delivery only half of our items were arriving ! NO communication at all on that issue. I had to keep calling the office to get the woman on the phone. We then had to wait another week for the rest of our items to be driven down ! Next we found out on the last day of the second truck with the rest of our items that they broke our 17 c amoire glass door ! They decided to take it upon themselves and send it out to be fixed. We waited about a month more for the door to arrive with 17 pieces of the armoire lying on our bedroom floor for that amount of time. They also broke a second 18 c Chinese Cabinet as well as we had multiple missing items and broken items that we paid them to pack ! multiple phone calls and countless emails to no avail. finally spoke to one of the owner's Steve who wanted to make this situation right. We were hopeful however now HE has gone missing with zero communication! We are beyond upset with how we were treated and continue to be treated They took our money and ran ! bottom line is BE WARE ! This company wants nothing but your money and doesn't step up when items are broken due to their own negligence! The moving team i had did a great job. They moved things out of my storage container near the mall and had enough room in the truck and time to pick up a couch and some boxes from my parents house to bring over to my new location. The 3 guys i got were excellent (Charlie, Roland, James), very friendly, and professional. They even were able to re-assemble a bed that was disassembled by a different moving company. They were able to do all this in less than 6 hours which was very impressive. The prices were pretty comparable to other moving companies as well. This was the worst moving experience that I have ever had. I paid by credit card in advance (over $1700) to move 34 miles away. The movers arrived on time but were very rude. They packed up my boxes and furniture and then told me that they had no room left on the truck, while I still had closets, cabinets and an entire kitchen that was supposed to be packed BY THEM for $599 which was already paid. I had to take another day off work for them to come back and pack my breakables and then they just put them in boxes and threw in some paper - not individually wrapping anything. They dumped all the boxes in my downstairs dining room and did not label any of the boxes they packed so I don't even know what is in them. I would NEVER recommend Braun moving it was a NIGHTMARE and overpriced, plus the lost wages from missing not one but two days of work!! read more

Summary of review: DO NOT USE BRAUN or STEVENS WORLDWIDE. (This is a review that I wrote on movingscam.com, but decided Yelp would be a better place for it. The move was summer 2012) This was an interstate move from CT to FL by Braun in conjunction with Stevens Worldwide Van Lines. I paid for FULL REPLACEMENT VALUE INSURANCE. We booked Braun based on a recommendation from someone with 2 good experiences with local moves. Robin was our moving cooridinator. She answered all of my questions before the move, but always seemed annoyed and rushed. Our estimator was very nice, friendly and prompt but his estimate was too low by 28%, costing us $734 more in the end (that fee also included shuttle trucks, which I don't blame them at all for). The moving guys came within an hour or two of their scheduled time and again were very nice, polite, and efficient. However, they did not use a furniture wrap on our bed posts and the bed was damaged at some point in the move. They had assured me it was adequately protected and they were wrong. Prior to delivery I was informed they FORGOT to weigh the truck before loading so I wouldn't know the weight until after they unloaded. The delivery was within the scheduled time frame (I got a spread from 6/25-7/9 and they delivered 6/29). Nice, polite movers and driver, but VERY disorganized. My things arrived with many items missing their ID labels that the company placed and some of my items had large red circle stickers that nobody could explain the meaning of. They delivered NUMEROUS items that were NOT MINE which had to be returned to the shuttle truck. A stand-up lamp was broken beyond repair, a chair was scratched and my bed was scratched. The movers also lost the screws to put the bed together, and had they found the screws, they would have put it together incorrectly, probably causing significant damage when used (according to the repairman I had to call.) Initially they insisted that I would have to pay for repairs myself if I didn't wait for the claims adjuster to assess the bed damage. More than a week after delivery they agreed we could get the bed fixed so we had something to sleep on. A claim was submitted July 3 for the damaged items. I was also MISSING 2 BOXES (which would would have been difficult to tell from their records; fortunately I kept meticulous records of my own boxes.) One of the missing boxes contained text books and notes that I needed for exam scheduled a month later that cost $6000 plus travel. I was told a few days after delivery that the items had been found and would be sent. Instead of delivering them, the boxes were driven all the way back to CT, then sent UPS, despite the urgency I expressed initially. One of the boxes they shipped back to me was mine and the other BELONGED TO SOMEONE ELSE. My texts were still missing. I filed a new claim form on July 27 listing all of my missing books. It totaled $1165.36 in replacement value (they were used but new when I bought them, and I paid extra insurance for NEW REPLACEMENT VALUE) and my class notes are irreplaceable. August 1 they tried to settle the claim for the damage but only offered $100 for the missing books because I packed them myself. Their form failed to list the second page of my book list, so I resubmitted. They still refused to pay more than $100. This was unacceptable; even when they pack they don't list individual titles so they would not have known either. Throughout this ordeal they were never sincerely apologetic for any of the issues; they acted like it was no big deal they delivered someone else's belongings to me; they never attempted to make things right for me or offer a discount on my balance due. Finally after endless phone calls and frustration, they agreed to $620 for the books. This is barely over half the replacement value and after they applied to the balance due caused by their poor estimate, I'm left with a check for $176 for damaged and lost items. read more

Had a three bedroom+ house of furniture to move from Brookfield to Farmington. From the beginning they were helpful and explained everything . Tom came out for my estimate and he was thorough and friendly and the estimate was spot on. Also the best price I got. Elsa in the office took over from there and she was always pleasant and answered every question. She even called during the day of the move to see if it was going well and what she could do. Three very nice young men showed up exactly at 8 AM ( I was told between 8-9 AM) walked me thru the house and started. I never saw them stop once, which is amazing since I paid by the hour . They took very good care of my furniture everything was padded and wrapped ( better than a long distance move I made) Done at the Brookfield house about when I thought they would be. The move was over a half hour early and everything was where I wanted it and in perfect condition. Would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to anyone. read more

I recently used Braun Moving when moving from NY to NJ and from the very begining when speaking to Allison( the moving coordinator) I could tell I was using a very reputable company. The day of the move the movers called to let me know when they were one their way and arrived even a few minutes early so timing was perfect. Michael, Paul and Rolland were my movers and were extreemly careful of moving my belongings/furiture. I had a sectional couch and a bed that needed to be taken apart so they could be moved properly. They took their time and wrapped each individual peice ensuring that they would be in perfect condition once getting to my new apartment and they did put everything back together for me (so convenient!) I move every year and this was the best company Ive used, I will always use Braun Moving from this point forward. read more

I WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS Simply the worst mover ever, and I have moved many times. Moved two months ago. We were sent a too-small truck, the movers refused to get a second or larger truck, so many items, including furniture, was left behind. The movers who were supposed to put mattresses in covers we purchased refused to do so due to space constraints, and wrapped them OUTSIDE with a thin piece of cardboard underneath. YUCK! Spouse had to hire a U-Haul truck the next day, return to our former house in another State, and pack up the remainder himself. The furniture had to remain behind, and our landlord made us pay to remove it. Told Elsa Cutting, our so-called moving coordinator of the problem. A month later, she gave us a few hours notice midweek that the furniture could be removed. How? We no longer had keys, and we would be trespassing! We told her so, sent her a detailed letter, and to date, have been ghosted and ignored. Sent a detailed letter to the named head of the office, who to date has ignored us, hence writing this review. Perhaps this review might stir him to action. In addition to being the most expensive mover, we had to pay for the U Haul, additional nights at the hotel due to returning to get our stuff, and associated issues, including paying for mattress covers and other boxes which the movers refused to use. I wish I could also give zero stars!!! I had same experience as Linda C as she posted on 10/4/2013! We used them to move from Connecticut to Georgia. Braun was very professional on pickup side, but a disaster on the delivery side as they work in association with Steven's Moving which is owned by Wheaton Worldwide. They claim piano experts but they didn't know how to reassemble and had to hire a professional piano mover to reassemble properly. We crated several valuable items, but they were still damaged, and despite buying extra insurance, they refused to cover. They also lost 3 items but claimed they didn't even though they show 298 items picked up and 295 items delivered. We bought extra insurance, and they (Wheaton Worldwide claims) refused to honor saying nothing was missing even though they can't really explain why only 295 items were delivered when 298 where picked up all detailed on the bill of lading. These are really dishonest people. Again, Braun is probably fine for a local move within CT, but I wouldn't use them for an Interstate move read more

DO NOT USE BRAUN! When we first contacted Braun, Tom Lawler came to our home. He sold us on Braun and provided a detailed estimate. We discussed that we had many items stored in boxes and totes. However these were packed for storage, not moving. He assured us the crew would overpack/repack them for safety as needed. We also discussed us packing non fragile items to lower the cost and that Braun would provide used boxes for this at no cost. Since our move was local they suggested and quoted the job for 3 days, pack on one day and move the items in 2 loads on the next two days. This changed to a two day plan at the last minute. We were assured it would not be a problem. The first day a crew of 3 arrived and packed some in the morning and moved it in the afternoon. I was told it was going slower than planned so the next day a crew of 6 arrived. They worked very fast, obviously rushing to pack everything left that morning and move it in the afternoon. When they arrived after a 2 hr lunch I did a walk through the new house to explain where everything went based on where it came from in the other house. With the revised schedule we had the TV installer there that afternoon and I could not watch them closely. .. When they had so many boxes in our MBR (on the first floor) that we could not get to the bed, they unloaded a number of wardrobe boxes and quickly just hung my wife's clothes in the closet simply taking the hangers from the box to the closet rod. They were in a hurry to finish that day. After they said all was unloaded, I was given paperwork to sign. When I questioned it I was told that is what they moved and it had to signed for them to finish. This was the first time I saw the inventory, it was written very vaguely, with no way reconcile at that time . I was tired after two long days and signed it. I was not given a copy and was told the office would send it. They did not until I requested it 4 wks later, they did however contact me promptly for an additional $560 for extra boxes they claim to have used. After they left and we started unpacking it became obvious that they simply put things in the easiest places. A majority was on the first floor, garage and basement (easy access thru Bilco door next to driveway). Very little of what we wanted upstairs was there. It became obvious why so much wound up in MBR. We found a number of boxes under packed; such as a medium size box with only a TV remote, power cord, and the small tv base; dishpacks were packed with 2/3 packing paper, etc. We found many instances of sloppy packing, items simply taped together, boxes and totes that were stored and should have been packed properly as promised just taken as is, items disassembled and pieces scattered, etc. Yet we were charged $526 for extra boxes needed. I sent my concerns to Elsa with photos. Her advice was to file an insurance claim. Since we had a $500 deductible we waited awhile until we unpacked more items. This move is into our downsized retirement home so allot of items are remaining stored in boxes we did not unpack. However as the cold weather started and my wife looked for her winter clothes, many items could not be found. We decided to file the claim. In the claim we included two totes of winter clothes we definitely recall having that are missing. We did not claim a number of individual items that we still cannot find and only recall when we go to use / wear them. The response to our claim from Robin Bartolli is very disappointing. When we first submitted the claim she ignored my wife's missing clothes entirely. Then when I wrote back expressing my concerns she addressed several of the items but only gave a very small token portion of the value of the clothes that are missing. We were told that since there was not any exceptions noted at time of delivery,or carrier unpack items at time of delivery they are not liable. Totes were listed as packed by owner and not listed as missing at time delivery. However they made small settlement in good faith. We did not contract for Braun to unpack. When we purchased the insurance prior to the move we understood that we had 6 mos to file a claim and all damage and missing items was covered. The only exception was for damage to items we packed unless the box showed external damage. None of the claim was for items we packed other than the missing tote of clothes. They are hiding behind the fact that I signed the inventory. I was not given the opportunity to look in the truck to confirm all was unloaded. I did take a quick look when the truck was about to leave and there and was a pile of moving blankets, empty wardrobe boxes, and large sheets of corrugated used to slide boxes down the stairs to load all simply tossed in a pile. Could several boxes have been left there? I have since heard that other moving companies have customers verify I have written to Mr. Philip D Braun on Jan 20,2020 and not received an answer read more

They charge more than others, but figured that would translate into a seamless move, so I was willing to pay. They had me pay in full the day before the move. Said they'd be there between 8 and 9. At 9:45 they still hadn't shown up and hadn't even called to update me. When I called them they told me that one of their trucks was down, so they weren't going to get to me until 1:30 that afternoon. Apparently it didn't occur to them that that might be a serious issue for us given our limited time for this move to work with moving out of our old place and our daughter only having child care for part of the day. Apparently it didn't occur to them to care enough to even ask before they prioritized someone else's move over ours since instead of renting a truck for the day, then sent "our guys" to help on another move until the truck was available. They derailed our move tim frame which ended up costing me extra money and we had no time to set things up since my infant daughter was home before they were done moving our things and we barely had her bedtime stuff in place in time. I sent an email to the guy who had come out to my house and quoted the price notifying him of the situation and asking for some money back considering they kept the full amount despite the fact that they did not deliver what they had contracted for. He said someone would get back to me and they never did. As if moving isn't stressful enough, this company was absolutely not worth the additional cost. read more

I am posting this for my fiance, who is completely traumatize from what was done to her. DO NOT USE BRAUN MOVING INC. OF NEWTOWN, CT 06470. I wanted to leave no star rating for them, but had to give one. I used Braun Moving to move my whole house of items; some furniture, all my clothes and many many items. It was over 400 boxes that included over 17 wardrobes and over 12 very large black construction bags. I packed all these myself and with friends. Braun came with two 35 foot trucks to loan everything. They would then transfer everything I owned to a much larger truck; to bring down to Naples, FL. This was in Dec. 2018, and it took over two (2) weeks Jan. 2019 to get down to Naples, FL. So, in other words, they must have taken my whole life off the two trucks and put it in storage; which I know they did; because I was charged for storage. When they did get down to Naples, they put the truck load that they had into a storage unit that I rented; because I did not have a place at that time. This storage unit had cameras and alarms, and was locked down at 10PM every day. But when they unloaded everything that they had on the truck; it was impossible to even count all the boxes, because they had so many men there unloading; no one could keep track of what was going on. At the end, I was told to sign the paper work that said everything was unloaded into my storage unit. Little did I know that I was robbed of so many of my belongings. I finally got everything in my storage unit out after 8 months. I used a friend who was a mover, and he and a few other men got my belongings out of storage. I and my friend, were with them the whole time. We even followed the truck to my place. SO, THE MOVE FROM MY STORAGE UNIT TO MY PLACE. THERE WAS NO ROBBERY DONE; WHICH BRAUN AND STEVENS TRIED TO SAY WHEN IT HAPPENED. I had the the chance to start unpacking, I noticed that many items were missing; AND HOW SO MANY ITEMS WERE MIXED WITH OTHER ONES. LIKE BATHROOM WITH KITCHEN, SOME PERSONAL UNDER GARMENTS IN WITH LIVING ROOM ITEMS. EVERY BOX WAS OPENED RAM SACKED; AND WHAT WAS NOT TAKEN WAS THROWN BACK INTO ANY BOX. A NUMBER OF WARDROBES WERE MISSING; AND OF THE 12 LARGE CONSTRUCTION BAGS, ONLY 2 WERE LEFT. THESE BAGS HAD ALL OF MY KING SIZE BEDDING. Contacted Braun Moving Inc. about this, and they did not what anything to do with it. Said to contact Stevens Worldwide Van Lines if you want to file a claim. Had me jumping through hoops with their paper work. Nothing came of that, because they said we did not pack your items; and you signed off that everything was delivered. Being a 70+ window woman, I did not know what had to be done; like I said before. They unloaded so fast, and no one was doing the count of boxes; just had me sign that everything was there. Even had the police of New Town, CT to start an investigation; in the end. They could not prove anything; but they did say that at Braun, there were no cameras at their place. So, I see it, that as my whole life sat at their storage for 2 weeks, with no cameras. They had a field day going through all of my boxes. DO NOT USE BRAUN MOVING INC. OR STEVENS WORLDWIDE VAN LINES. From their no surprise estimate, coordination and delivery - everything was incredibly smooth. Lead guy had a serious morale problem (read: attitude sucked). Packing was done in a manor which resulted in gross overuse of paper and box area. Clearly not packed to maximize safety of objects, but maximize sale of boxes. Could have easily been packed in 30-40% less boxes, with no compromise to safety of contents. Boxes not labeled adequately, resulting in poor placement in new location. Had a basket of shoes they did not even bother to wrap. Just put open basket in truck, resulting in lost shoes. My move itself was fine and the workers were very professional and courteous (and timely - they worked quickly!) However they broke the glass door of my China cabinet and basically refused to help get it fixed. I received a check for $58 (which I was told is the max I was entitled to based on the insurance coverage I selected that pays 60 cents per pound.) I was given a completely wrong estimate of what my China cabinet hutch weighs, and was paid based on this incorrect estimate. I was told a claims rep would contact me and come to my home. No one ever did. I spoke to a woman in their office that was quite rude and belligerent with me. She said she would "see what she could do" which translates into her doing nothing. I would not use them again based on this experience. Stand behind your work and help your customers when your employees make a mistake. I really, really wanted to give Braun 5 stars. Truly. But I can't because they lost my furniture. Let me be clear: the crews that moved me worked hard and all the guys on the crew were very sweet to me - but they lost my furniture. Elsa in the main office was very sweet - but when they LOST my FURNITURE she became distant and aloof to my situation. And by that I mean I was ghosted - my calls and emails were never returned - I had to harass them to get answers. And I still don't have my furniture and no one has contacted me about the claim I'm submitting for reimbursement. Oh and you only get .60 cents per lb per item. So my nightstand that they lost was small, light and I'll probably only get $10 for it but it'll cost me $130 to buy another one. Plus they lost 3 custom shelves that fit into an antique hutch that I'll have to get made - god only knows how much that will cost me. Plus they lost a cubby that is about the size of a large dishwasher but they told me to "look in a box.' Ummm - nope. Braun is all of a sudden very shady and once they get their ridiculously overpriced fees in their bank account they're done with you. I DO NOT recommend them at all. And that sucks because I'm a really nice person and hate to trash anyone - but the people behind the desks making the decisions are not savvy to the needs of a single mom with a big fat goose egg in her bank account and now I have to go replace stuff that they lost. read more

They were terrific, for the first time ever the estimate is what we paid for moving. We were first referred to another mover located in Stamford and they dropped the ball. Braun came through for us. read more

Although my move was only 4 miles, door to door, it wasn't the easiest move because my husband was in the hospital and I had to do this all myself. The men were professional and polite. They set up everything before they left and it looked as if I had lived here long before the move. Braun's price was much lower than another estimate I received and it was done in 1 day instead of 2. I will say that they were late in getting to me because of truck trouble but they called to let me know they would be late. Even though they were late they were not in a rush to leave and everything was set up before they left. read more

We had s very experience with Braun. The crew worked hard and were literally running down my new driveway to get the next piece to unload. They didn't mind moving a few things around at the end and got the job done quickly. read more

For our long distance move, the pickup crew was skilled, except for inadequate packing of some artwork. But the delivery crew was poor: they did not reassemble furniture that had been disassembled by the pickup crew, and they put many objects on the wrong floors of the house or in the wrong room, despite everything being labeled. read more

Tom comes over and gives a time-consuming estimate that gives the appearance of professionalism, so extra insurance does not appear necessary. The day of the move all hell breaks loose, and a 10-hour move to the next town results with much breakage amid a Keystone Cops scenario. Elsa calls during the move but after the move you are on your own. I would recommend a family-run company like Astro before using Braun again. read more

Braun Moving is fabulous! The movers were very thorough, polite, efficient and STRONG! Not one scratch moving in or out. The price was extremely reasonable and we were even refunded some money because they finished ahead of time. We highly recommend Braun! read more
