First time in Salzburg, we wanted to find traditional food. Braurestaurant came highly recommended on Yelp so we went. They have a beautiful indoor dining space, as well as a very beautiful outdoor patio. Everyone that helped us was very friendly and professional! The goulash starter was hearty and packed with flavor, the beef broth with liver dumping into was delicious. The bratwurst was very flavorful, served with mustard and mashed potatoes. We enjoyed this restaurant on our first night in Salzburg after traveling from the US and staying at the Sheraton nearby. We had an early dinner here at the end of June 2025 during a heat wave. There's no air condition inside (or at least anything we could discern), so we sat outside in the garden area waiting for an occasional breeze. During the summer months, the sun stays out late-- I imagine this garden must look lovely in the darker evenings. We ordered a delicious chicken schnitzel with tasty sautéed potatoes. While the chicken option for schnitzel was not on the menu, they offered to make it at our request. My husband had the veal schnitzel. All were deliciously prepared. The beer options were as you would expect to see at an Austrian restaurant- good options served cold. Despite the heat, my daughter ordered the creamy tomato soup with croutons (I would've devoured that if not for the oppressive heat). The meal ended with sweet treats of apple strudel with ice cream and a caramel sundae. The service was polite and fast. Highly recommended. read more

I walked past this restaurant several times on my way back to the hotel and finally decided to stop in for lunch around noon. The place is quite spacious, with both indoor seating and a large outdoor terrace. I ordered the small filet mignon from their seasonal menu, which came with white asparagus and potatoes. I substituted the potatoes for onion rings. The steak was just ok... the waitress didn't ask how I wanted it cooked, so it came out more medium well than I prefer. The onion rings were very oily. Great find for my first visit to Salzburg. Wonderful salads, very friendly and helpful wait staff, but the best thing is outdoor dining courtyard. Braurestaurant Imlauer is a large restaurant attached to a hotel and serving Austrian food. The menu is quite large, so you'll be sure to find something you'll like. Only thing is there aren't many vegetarian options so keep that in mind. I ordered the kraftige rindsuppe (beef soup with a cheese bread dumpling) and ofenfrischer schweimbraten in reindle (roast pork with brown gravy and a bread dumpling). The soup was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed how gooey the cheese dumpling was. The cheese bread dumpling was one large piece, so I recommend cutting it up so you get a bit with each sip of soup. The roast pork was nice and tender but after awhile, the gravy did get a bit salty, so don't dunk your meat in the gravy if you want to be able to finish your meal. The best part of this meal was our sweet and funny waiter who was very attentive and conversational. He seemed very happy to be working there and his presence made the whole meal more enjoyable. read more

Party of 8 plus a baby --tourists/family event group needed a place for an impromptu gathering and luckily for us, we were able to get a reservation here (after trying a half dozen other places). We were seated on the outdoor patio which was packed full of a mix of tourists and locals, some dressed for dinner at a nicer restaurant and some in jeans but ALL made to feel very welcome! There was a variety of dishes here from Austrian specialties to salmon to a burger but amazingly, everything was very good! But the very best thing I can tell you about this restaurant was the service! From the host, to our waiter to all of the servers and wait staff thank you!!!! They made this experience with a one year old painless and managed to keep everything moving and everyone happy! Highly recommend! read more

We stayed at a nearby hotel and on a rainy Friday afternoon the only spot close by was this place. It was packed with lots of people inside as the patio was closed due to rain. Service was amazing, they were kind to us and accommodating as we had a stroller and baby with us. They came by quite often to check in with us. Food was absolutely delicious. There was a variety of Austrian dishes and it was very good. Just a note that most dishes are a bit salty. The interior seems fancy and the servers are dressed quite nice but most of the patrons were dressed casually. Prices were really reasonable as well I would say. I recommend this spot if you are looking for a good spot with great beer/drinks and food. It's very close to Salzburg train station! read more

The interior was nicely decorated. We were a little worried at first about our appearances (tourists with jeans and backpacks) as the restaurant looked very posh and classy when we entered. However, we were warmly greeted by a lady immediately who took us to our table. The service was excellent! They took time to answer our questions with a smile on their faces each time. This restaurant has a very nice interior and gives off this fine dining ambience, with the staff being well dressed, soft spoken and polite. There weren't a lot of people when we were here, which was a Wednesday afternoon for lunch. One major complaint is that they were pretty slow - slow in taking our order and slow in bringing out the food. I had the Escalope of pork, which is similar to a schnitzel except the layer wrapped around the pork is thinner, less crispy and doesn't really use the same panko and/or is not fried. The problem I found of the cutlet was soggy, and it wasn't a great texture. Everything else was pretty bland on the plate, and it was an alright dish. The sweet cranberry sauce that came with the dish was pretty decent though and went well with the pork. I also had the apple strudel which wasn't bad, it was mushier and soggier than I liked as well. But beside that, it tasted fine. I probably wouldn't come back. read more

Service is well trained/professional. A smile is often difficult to find in Salzburg, but the staff in Braurestaurant Imlauer certainly was very friendly and smiling. That is the best aspect of this restaurant. There are menus in English, French, Italian and (of course) German. All staff speaks good english. What was average was the food. My soup was delicious. And so was my Beer-Tiramisu. But my main course was low quality meat. Really not nice. I wanted to send it back, but didn't because I didn't want to spoil the mood at the table. But it was really some of the worst meat I ever had. However, I was the only one that didn't enjoy my main course. Here is a tip. The main part of the restaurant (the part you enter first), is really pretty. Austrian. A lot of carved wood and nice decoration. We were, however, asked to follow the waiter to a room further in the back. Perhaps an 'overflow' room. This room was about half the size of the main room and not at all as nicely decorated. Also, the tables were very close to each other. A group of about 25-30 American tourists sat in this room with us. I lost the 'Austria feeling' completely in this room. We spent an 8-day vacation touring all across Germany, with one day trip to Salzburg to do the Sound of Music tour. We asked our tour guide to recommend a restaurant for dinner on our way walking back to the train station, and she recommended this place. This is a top notch, classy, nice place with excellent food and professional service, but we didn't feel out of place walking in wearing jeans and fleece from just coming off the tour. They had menus in English available. My son and I had the boiled beef, potatoes, creamed spinach, and it was superb. My younger son had weinerschnitzel (as he did EVERY day of vacation). All the food was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. I would go out of my way to eat here again if we ever go back to Salzburg. read more

Found this place while visiting Salzburg for a few days. We ended up visiting twice. Both times it was excellent. The first time we had the spinach ravioli and the assorted meat plate. My wife & I had dinner at the Braurestaurant IMLAUER with two friends from Singapore on Monday 8 May. My wife and I ordered the medallions of pork and our Singapore friends ordered steaks. My wife & I enjoyed our meals, but our Singapore friends were a bit disappointed with their steaks. The waiter tried to explain that what they were ordering was a thin cut (sirloin) steak, but I guess they had images of other steaks they had in the past. As the steak was cut thin, it was also well done which did not add to their meal enjoyment. They did later find the steak of their dreams at another Salzburg restaurant later in the week. For dessert my wife had the apple strudel, one of my friends had the house special chocolate cake and the other friend ordered ice cream; ice cream is very expensive in Singapore. I recommend Braurestaurant IMLAUER. I prefer it over the nearby Pitterkeller restaurant. read more

A white tablecloth kind of place with smartly dressed servers and a lovely fenced beergarden minutes away from Mirabel Gardens. The food was both wholesome and delicate.
