This Bravo's location is currently under new ownership. As with other businesses which get new ownership, changes take place but not always for the better. I was a patron at this location and a customer came up to the bar and said her mixed drink was lacking amaretto. The bar tender said, "I mixed it myself, it has a shot of amaretto." The patron disagreed and the bar tender said in a sarcastic tone, "Are you calling me a liar? I'm the new owner of this place." She replied with, "Yup, I figured this must be under new ownership because this place is not the same." Instead of calming the situation, the owner escalated it. Not good for business and certainly a display of poor people skills. Personally, I have noticed that they have changed the quality of some menu items since new ownership. Their spaghetti meat sauce does not have visible meat, although when questioned, they said it is meat sauce. It appeared to be regular marinara sauce. Bottom line, there was no meat in the meat sauce. I also ordered their once famous Italian Beef Sandwich. The size of the bread has become smaller with a much smaller portion of meat. I no longer recommend the Italian Beef sandwich. I will be spending my money at The Hydeout from now on. --------------- Update: COVID is subsiding and local businesses are inside and outside open for business. Hydeout was quite busy so I thought I would give Bravos another chance. (What a mistake). A sign outside their door said that due to Illinois COVID rules, they will charge a 3% fee on all credit card transaction. (Well, that is total BS). So I decided, I will pay cash. I walked in and found the bar and restaurant sitting area closed ON A FRIDAY NIGHT! I asked if their bar is open and they said, "no." I told them that Hydeout is packed and I don't know how they compete to stay in business. With a snotty tone, the employee said, "Then go to Hydeout." Dale (Owner), if you are reading this, you have successfully trashed a once well establish, well run restaurant. And it shows because you had absolutely zero customers on a Friday night, while your competition is rocking. When your business hits rock bottom (I'm sure you are about there), I am looking forward to new ownership so they can bring Bravos back to a thriving restaurant again. For the rest reading this post, I suggest you do not go to this Bravos in Poplar Grove. With the little amount of business they have, I am sure that there food shelf life is near their limits because they simply are not making restaurant sales. As far as the pizza for carry out?......... I doubt the pizza is what it use to be because they are pinching penny's to survive. I don't know why I tried Bravos again because I was even more disappointed than last time. This time, I didn't even got 4 steps into the place and was rudely told to, "Go the Hydeout." We have been loyal customers of the Poplar Grove Bravos for almost 10 years. Unfortunately the recent change in ownership has not maintained the same level of flavor or quality. While the pizza is still okay, I cannot say the same for the salads or sandwiches. The salads are mostly just lettuce where they used to be full of toppings...used to love the Greek and chef. Lettuce is not so fresh. Another favorite was the chicken philly pita. Last time I ordered it was skimpy on the cheese and the pita tasted stale. Will miss the convenience of being so close but think it is time to move on. read more

I would give this 0 stars, both times I went I've found HAIR in my pizza. The first time it was in the pizza dough and sausage. The second time I decided to give it one last chance. I actually went in and saw the kitchen, NO ONE was wearing a HAIR NET!!!!!!!! NO ONE and it was a packed kitchen.. We've had decent pizza at this location. Delivery is usually within the hour or we go pick it up. If you like the wood fired taste, then you'll like this. But sometimes it can taste a little dry and over burnt. But I usually like a thin crust. We've Also had the bread sticks, cheese sticks and side salad. They are decent as well. This place is as mediocre of a restaurant as you could ever imagine. There food is not bad by any means, but nothing I've had here (I have tried a large number of items on their menu) was exceptional. They have pretty good specials that makes certain menu items extremely affordable. Other than that their prices ok. The staff have never been very welcoming, it appears they are there only to collect your money. We typically only order from here when we are too lazy to cook. We have been Bravo customers for years and loved it. Yesterday we stopped in for a quick (?) lunch that really disappointed us. We arrived around 1:10pm and as we entered some customer left so we then became the only customers they had. Since time was an issue, (we had to get to the airport to pick someone up) we asked if pizza slices would be quick and she said it wouldn't take too long. We got some cheesy garlic bread which came kind of quickly and was great. About 20 more minutes went by when the waitress came and said she was sorry but the pizza was burnt by accident and the put new ones in which will be ready quickly. We were the only customers in the restaurant. Another 20 minutes still no Pizza and we were out if time. We explained we had to go. They apologized but by then it was 1:50 and it was too late. This is the first time I've ever had such a disappointing meal that I have to share. I placed an order after 7:00 on a Thursday, I ordered 1 Italian beef with moz,and peppers. 1 Italian beef combo with moz and an order of mushrooms, the bill was $ 30. 88. I picked it up and brought it home and there were no peppers on the beef, I was charged but no peppers. I called to tell them my problem and they were closed ,they did answer the phone but didn't really care about my problem. We have used BRAVO's pizza for the go to Pizza Place for the last 16 years it has had it's up's and downs. For years we raved about not only their Pizza but there ribs, sandwiches and more. Locally owned we have tried to support them during Covid-19 we order about once a month. Last month was amazing the best pizza we have had in a long long time. Last night the pizza was not good and has turned us off from ordering for a long time! First I was told 35 minutes, I always leave about 5 minutes after I call as I want to get the pizza as quickly as I can after it comes out of the oven. The sign says don't enter call and tell us you are here. I called and said, it may not be ready but want to let you know I am here. I could understand if they were packed there were two cars in the parking lot, when I arrived.The young lady (I wont share her name) said hold and I will check, she didn't actually put me on hold and can be heard mocking me calling early to one of the male cooks. She comes back and says it almost done, about 3 min.... I checked my phone and waited 15 more minutes. I watched them serve the last car, that was about 3 minutes but I waited another 15 minutes. It was a 50 minute wait time. The server would not bring the pizza out to the car she made another server do it. The other server did apologize for the wait. I tipped about $7.00 on an 18.00 pizza. Get home and the pizza is not quite burned but the cheese is completely brown, not gooey and melted, the green olives were not fresh. It was okay at best. As I started, it will be awhile before we order again. I keep hearing it has changed ownership not sure if it is true I know its changed in quality. I realize due to Covid 19 prices have gone up, but when you order 2 large 2 topping pizzas and pay over $40 with tip and its so greasy you have soak up the grease with several paper towels there is a problem. opinion: Pizza has the consistency of cardboard. I tried to support your establishment by the occasional order of breaded mushrooms or fettuccine with shrimp (frozen reheat?) . But today I'm afraid I will no longer require your services. I foolishly opened my stapled bag at home to discover mushrooms burned to a crisp. The only other thing we ordered was lasagna. This was a special request from three out of our group who have said it was the only thing they liked there. all three reported the same issue with the lasagna. It was too peppered. I completely understand that things can go wrong, but it was the phone call that followed that sealed the deal. I love this place. I've been getting food from here for over five years. They have great pizza and great delivery service for years. My kitchen was being remodeled for several months.
