This is a takeout/delivery only restaurant, so keep that in mind. I love their pizza! So far my favorite is the Supreme. A great balance of fresh toppings, with flavors that complement each other, and a generous amount of smooth, creamy mozzarella! The restaurant is under new management, and the menu has been expanded. I'm looking forward to trying their great variety! The new owner is friendly and very accommodating. I like my thin crust pizza with a pie cut instead of squares. I experienced problems with the payout system and my card, which I hope he gets straightened out, but he did tell me I could order online, have the food delivered, and still pay the driver at the door (they carry card readers). That would save me the hassle of having to go pick up my orders in order to pay in the store. He said I could also order on the phone and pay that way. I look forward to visiting my friend's house up in Rockford more often so I can explore their diverse and ambitious new menu! read more

I miss the previous Mamma Mia's as it was always delicious, and loved those wings. New owners now, and although the same name, it definitely is not the same. We tried the "Mexican" menu along with our traditional Italian and sadly were disappointed. The quesadillas looked and smelled so good, but were dripping in grease so much we couldn't finish them without feeling like we were drinking oil along with them. The wings are basic and seemed to taste like they've been in the freezer too long. Hoping they get it together and figure it out as we do miss having a local place to visit. Yesterday I had their Dorito Taco Pizza and it is the best Taco Pizza I have found in this town. In fact, I was waiting a Meg's coffee shop while they made my pizza and they brought it over to Meg's when it was ready. Not many places have that kind of service. My husband loves thin crust, so we were both looking forward to a nice crispy crust, and all of the toppings we ordered. The crust was so wet that it was soaking into the delivery box, and so of course the toppings wouldn't stay on because of that wet, flabby, gross crust. Half of the toppings ended up sliding completely off of the pizza. NOT the fault of the delivery person! The fault was with whoever didn't take the time to make sure the crust was baked properly! I ordered the pizza with pepperonis and sausage it tasted like a microwave pizza. Then I also ordered the chicken and pasta the chicken was an extremely thin slice and was just so bad I couldn't finish it overall very unsatisfied won't be ordered again. Just discovered them and they're yummy. Also, love that they have cannolis. And their salads were pretty filling for the price. Their pizza is a little expensive to me but it's nice to try something new. I'm typically into Lino's pizza, but it's good to mix it up. read more

We have ordered from here several times. But last night was the last time that we will order from here. Whenever we talk about ordering my friend asks if I think they are open since their hours are not always reliable . Last night we called at 8:20 to order a salad and sandwich. I was told they were only making pizza's since it was getting close to 9 closing time. It takes longer to make a pizza than making a sandwich. A carry out Italian place is only open till 9 is closing way earlier than any other. I cannot tell you how many times we have called during their stated open hours and they were closed. This is not acceptable! I wish them luck but we are tired of this and will not order again. read more

I ordered pizza and a salad and two cans of coke delivery through the Alice app. The pizza is cold, no utensils for the salad along with a small cup of ranch and the two cans of coke are actually Pepsi: I would've never ordered them if I knew it was Pepsi when it clearly said Coke. read more

Tonight I ordered lasagna, don't get it. I've never had lasagna made so thin. There where two layers, literally, cheese and meat. It was thin and 3 layers at best. Have you heard of melt in your mouth, it will based on the fact it was mush. I've only ever gotten take out pizza, in fact it's my go to Italian place when I don't want to cook. They're quick, reliable, and tasty. The 10 inch pizza is perfect to share between two people. Every combo of toppings I've had has been awesome. They put just the right amount of sauce and toppings. I love the crust here too, I could eat just the crust with some of their tomato sauce to dip in, yum! read more

Never ever go there. Italian food should not taste Mexican, Pizza tasted like spicy tomto paste. Crust had no flavor. Sicilian Salad has small old clumps of pizza sausage, two small pieces of tomato, no cheese, it did not look at all like the picture online. Meatballs tasted like meat flavored bread crumb balls. Pasta sauce tastes like it should be on tacos. Italian dressing was pepper flavored oil. I paid for avegie pizza with ground beef got no meat on it. My husband threw almost all his meatball sandwich away because it had such a weird taste. It won't qualify for dog food. I could say more bad things or ask for replacement food but I will never go near the place again- They should only try one type of ethnic food on their menu(Mexican, Italian, American diner or hot dog joint) and maybe able to make one ok. way to expense for food quality and service. Not at all like the taste and quality of of food of previous owners, Gave it one star because cannoli was passable and felt sorry for their failure to do aything right. It's Papa John's/Domino's Pizza, but not served from Papa John's/Domino's-at least it is not Pizza Hut. With the lineage of the owners (supposedly from the same group/family who started Francesco's in Rockford/Cherry Valley years ago), I expected much better pizza than this, especially in Rockford, IL (where pizza is practically a religion): read my other Yelp! reviews for significantly better local pizza suggestions. My initial fears were correct-the only thing seemingly missing from here is the use of those plastic pizza pans on the chain-driven pizza conveyer oven (in which case I could add Chuck E. Cheese to the pizza list mentioned earlier in this review). This sort of pizza place can be found nationwide and is nothing about which to write home unless you are the owner/franchisee of the business (or if you work for the place). Many small town inhabitants might even really dig the sort of pizza made at Mamma Mia's simply because their pizza options are "frozen," "nothing," or "Casey's Convenience Stores'/Noble Roman's from a gas station located at the interstate off-ramp." I don't think I'll be eating here frequently unless someone else is buying/treating/insisting/demanding/holding a gun to my head/absolutely no other local pizza places exist/it's free (pick your favorite(s) from that list). That said, it definitely beats the pizza from the predecessor of the location (it was a Papa Murphy's take and bake, which closed and got significantly remodeled into the Mamma Mia's it is today). The pizza here does not taste horrid, but neither does pizza from Papa John's/Domino's--yet compared to several other Rockford pizza venues, the pizza here pales heavily. Mamma Mia indeed. :-( A bonus star is given on this review for the -very- friendly, smiling, staff behind the counter, and also for a quick completion of my order ("order to carry out" in almost ten minutes on a busy night, just like at a Papa John's/Domino's). The staff was truly wonderful-I wish more customer-facing position holders were as happy and smiling as the staff was here; too bad they have a mediocre-tasting product to peddle. Thank you so much for making a gluten free pizza that is tasty and large enough to share. We haven't tried anything else yet. But will definitely be back. My only suggestion is when u order the gluten free pizza, u do need to let it rest. My pizza needed time to set. The middle was a little underdone. But to there defense i ordered three veggies and of course veggies have moisture. Looking forward to another pie soon! read more

Tonight was the first time we tried Mamma Mia's and it won't be the last. Food was really good and seemed really authentic. Happy that a restaurant finally opened close to us with great italian food. Tonight we ordered the pesto linguine, tortellini alfredo and the garlic knots. The pesto sauce was very rich in flavor and very fresh tasting, it also came with seared mushrooms and they were cooked perfect as well. The pasta was cooked al dente which is exactly how i like it. The torts were very fresh and very good as well, the cheese inside tasted very sweet and fresh and had great consistency. The alfredo sauce was also very flavorful and rich. cooked just right. The garlic knots were not to dry but not too doughy. They were also delicious. So far the food was worth it and looking forward to trying other items on the menu. Best gluten-free pizza in town. They're regular crust pizzas are great as well. I'm always happy to see a pizzeria carry fresh spinach as a topping too. We've gotten 3 orders from them thus far, all promised that the pizzas would be ready within 20 minutes, and all three times they kept their word. I highly recommend this place to others. read more

The pasta dishes here are outstanding. The garlic dough knots are wonderful. We have eaten the stuffed shells and the fettuccine con gamberetti and both are delicious. The special salad with the sweet vinaigrette is sooo good! The pizza is good. But that is so subjective. Everyone likes their pizza a different way and therefore you get many different opinions. There are people out there who actually like Pizza Hut pizza. We have only tried the pizza twice but will continue to try the specialty pizzas. Have not tried the regular or stuffed crust......yet! I have not yet tried Mama Mia's pizza and I'm not likely to since I have my favorite pizzas and I tend to stick to them. The pasta and sandwiches however? Mama mia! Their pasta is fabulous! I love their Alfredo dishes and the cheese tortellini is to die for. I was distraught that there was no delivery/carryout pasta in town that was better than standard but Mama MIa's is IT. The pasta tastes so fresh and is always cooked perfectly. Oh and the portions are HUGE! You are definitely getting bang for your buck. I don't find them pricey, in fact they are cheaper than Macianos and the food here is far better. Their salads are standard, but fresh and perfect as a side dish. Their sandwiches are HUGE. The Italian beef is wonderful, but probably big enough to split between two people. The staff has always been very friendly to me and the food is always ready within 15 to 20 minutes. read more

Love it! Great staff, great food! The owner is really nice and accommodating, as well as the rest of the staff. I highly recommend the wings, the wraps, the salads, breadstick's (Charlie makes the best), and the pan pizzas. Orders are finished in a timely fashion. Service is ALWAYS great and food usually is too, BUT the taco pizza was not so good. There is absolutely no flavor, very plain and the meat is bland. For the price you pay for the taco pizza, there should be flavors or more toppings to make it taste like a good taco. read more

We ordered a large regular thin pizza ( they don't offer a pan pizza). The pizza was uninspiring. We ordered a sausage, onion and green pepper pizza. The pizza was okay, nothing exceptional. We love this place for a Friday night take out when we don't feel like cooking. Have tried pizza and several sandwiches. Everything always fresh and ready on time. They have very nice kitchen with all new equipment. Everything prepared with care and well packaged for the trip home. We live close by so this place is our go to location for carry out. Depending on what you get, the food is decent. The mostaccioli was mediocre at best. And The service is TERRIBLE! I have tried this restaurant three times, and every time something has been wrong. First time, they wouldn't let me order what I wanted, turns out the menu is as is, no changing anything. The next time, they forgot part of my order. The third time, they let me place an order online 45 minutes before the hours posted on their website claimed they close, when I went to go pick it up ten minutes later, the building was locked and my card was still charged... I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more
