She said ok and said she would clean them up first but proceeded to butcher my brows! When I sat up and looked, I expressed that they looked totally different from one another and that the left brow was way too thin. She said my hair is curly and they are shaped different (which I already told her before she started) and it's has ever caused a problem for my usual place off of Clairmont Rd. I should've just made that drive! Also, she threaded my upper lip and chin after she butchered my brows, I figured, she can't mess that up, but her energy had definitely changed. I should have left then because she continued to thread hard over the same spot on my upper lip, like she was mad. Eventually I had to stop her because it was getting really painful! She claimed she was "trying to get this one hair," but she was being excessive and aggressive. When she checked me out, it took her a while, like she didn't know how to work the device. Needless to say I didn't tip, I thought about not even paying for the brows but I went ahead and did it. After I completed the transaction on my end, the screen changed back to the main logo and I knew she was finally done but she just stood there...so I did too. She told me that they had available slots right now and she gave me over to Suely. Suely was very claim, easy going and very Funny older lady. She talked to me while giving the service. She explained her background to me and how she started this process. this lady has been in business for over 25 years so I knew she would be great. And that she was! Let me say, I'm super iffy about who does my brows because mine are incredibly thick naturally but over the years, I have gone to places that assume I want them thinned out. After seeing the reviews for Waxing in the City and noticing the proximity to where I was, it seemed like an easy choice. Since my appointment was last minute, I was left with either 9 or 9:15 am or around noon when I knew I needed to be preparing for our shoot. So I went with the 9:15am despite being sleepier than ever these days. Surprising to me, I actually got my life together in time and made it there early! This location is set in a large plaza with a number of businesses nearby which affords lots of great parking. When I entered, I was greeted by Brittany at the front desk who was such a sweetheart. She let me know that since we were the only ones in the building, she would lock the door for safety purposes and I so appreciated that. The interior is so cute, filled with lots of products to check out and waxing marketing all over. Brittany guided me back to one of the rooms which was small but not cramped in any way. Incredibly clean and offering an adjustable flatbed to lay back on that was covered with a disposable sheet, it was quite welcoming. And the playlist?! Fire. I don't love waxing, I mean, who does? But this was such a great experience. They use hard wax vs. strips and I truly prefer it that way. Brittany used small pieces of wax vs. longer ones which made each pull gentler, so great. I let her know that I hateeee tweezing but understand it has to happen, and she was quite patient with me and still smooth when doing so. She shares that the next available appointment is next Friday. I explain that I'm going out of town on Monday so next Friday is not an option for me. She then proceeds to tell me that there's no other availability today and ultimately I'm just out of luck. Now with my vacation just 48 hours away and being it a holiday weekend, I am left high and dry -- thanks a lot Pure Wax. Not to mention, it's practically impossible to even book an appointment with them because of their low staffing numbers. It seems as if the estheticians are never working! And that's when you're looking weeks and months out on their calendar. Long story short, never again will I patronize or recommend Pure Wax.
