Had a monthly membership and for a while, I was going every month. Then I didn't go for a few months which became more than a year. I looked at my credit card bill today and the price increased over last month with no notice. When I called to cancel, I was told you have to email the member email and wait a month. If you get charged again then you can come in one last time. WHAT? Looked at the website and there is NOTHING in their Terms and Conditions or anywhere on the site as to how to cancel. Called the corporate office in Jacksonville and was told again that email is the only way. There is only one person who handles the cancellations and he doesn't have her phone number. She calls him directly but he can't call her. This is the most ridiculous way to handle cancellations I have ever heard of. Great gatekeeping. read more

I've been coming to Brazil's for about a year now and I have never had a bad experience. My appointments are with Nancy and she always takes great care of me. On each of my visits, customer service at Brazil's is excellent. At my first appointment, I was really nervous, but Nancy explained everything to me before we got started and made sure I was comfortable. Nancy keeps the conversations going and before you know it, you're done with your appointment. Brazil's is very clean, they place a new protective sheet on the chair for every appointment, and they always bring in a fresh pot of wax and use new wax applicators with each application. They use a hard wax that doesn't require strips and it's not nearly as painful as you build it up to be in your head. Appointments are super easy to make online or over the phone and they give you a reminder call and text a few days before your appointment. I have not had a problem with making an appointment at a convenient time for me. During their busy seasons, like spring break, Nancy gives me a heads up about booking appointments early since they fill up. I haven't been late to any of my appointments, but keep in mind that they do have a strict late/cancellation policy. read more

I am giving this 2 stars because the place itself is very clean & smells great. I went in for a full Brazilian "plus", which includes the stomach trail also. My waxer had a great personality, however, unfortunately, I did have ALOT of hair that did not get waxed, and my stomach trail was not worked on AT ALL. I felt the work was not at all detail oriented. The wax was extremely hot, the temperature was probably worse than the wax pull. I've gotten waxed multiple times and this is probably the worst one I've gotten. read more

Lately I've been getting waxed by Adriana, she is always pleasant and makes sure I'm well taken care of, she even works on the weekends which I love! While traveling for work, I walked in hoping to be able to get a Brazilian. This place smells amazing. I love all of their signs about loving and appreciating all bodies. Even though they didn't have anyone immediately available, the front desk was SO accommodating, and were able to squeeze me in for an appointment. (Tip: Make an appointment!) The room was so clean and sterile, it was like walking into a doctor's office. It's a nice touch that they offer you a cleansing wipe and a paper gown. They bring in a fresh pot of wax for each person, plus, cleanse and oil your skin before the wax. The wax was fairly quick and easy. Karen took extra time and care to get rid of any ingrown hairs and also gave tips on how to avoid them. At check out, they remembered my name and offered a little card with waxing after care tips. At my normal place, they always tell you what to do, but it was nice to have a little card with a reminder. I must have caught them while they were running a promotion, because they also handed me a few of their products for free. I was really impressed with my experience here. I think this is the best waxing center in Gainesville! The place is tidy and aesthetically pleasing (the vibes are very 2016), the front desk is always so sweet, and the bathrooms are super clean. I always see Melissa, and she's wonderful! She's funny, efficient, and so kind. I almost* look forward to the wax so I can see her. I will warn anyone who decides to book here that it is always cold (it has to be for the wax) so bring a jacket! read more

This was hands down the best waxing experience I have ever had! When I first walked in I noticed how clean the waiting room was and how nice it smelled. All of the front office attendants were super pleasant and helpful and they had me back for my appointment a little earlier than scheduled! The individual rooms are also extremely clean. Each patron gets their own cup of wax that is brought in during the appointment and they don't double dip. There is an iPad inside the room that connects to the system to tell other workers inside the office if a room is occupied and which phase of the appointment they are in. My waxer, Nancy, was so sweet and personable the entire time. She made jokes with me and made the whole experience very enjoyable! I will be scheduling with her for all of my future visits. Like I said, this was the best experience I've had and will 100% be coming back regularly! read more

Hmm I would have liked to have given this place 4 stars but my check out experience led me to leave 3 stars. I have been to many wax studios, so I am leaving this based on all my others experiences. I decided to try this place out because Yelp had a $30 for $49 voucher going. I calculated that the two services that I need were going to be covered with my $49 voucher that I purchased. I walked in and immediately noticed how nice and clean the place was. The people at the front desk were not particularly friendly which I noticed because at my other wax place they are SOO over the top friendly. I mean considering the pain you are about to endure, seeing a friendly face when you first walk in definitely calms the nerves. But whatever no big deal, at least my actual waxer was friendly. She got the job done, no complaints there. One thing that I really struggled with the table you lay on. It spins around so that the waxer can move you around easily. For someone that gets easily dizzy and has motion sickness, it was the worst. I really wanted to say "hey girl, i'm getting super dizzy and nauseous can we bring the spinning down a notch" but I just took it. At the end of the day, I was very satisfied with the wax. Checking out was the annoying part. The lady did not know how to use my coupon so she said I still owed $18. I explained to her that was impossible because with my Yelp voucher there should be no cost. She was visibly having trouble using it and even mentioned that she never uses Yelp vouchers. She then tried to explain that it could only be used towards one type of service and that even though I bought a $49 voucher, it was only worth the $30 I bought it for. Um wtf.... she literally just made that up because she did not know how to use the coupon. I told her no where on the voucher did it say anything like that. We went back and forth for a couple minutes and finally she decided to go back and ask the manager who agreed that I should not be charged. More than anything I can not stand when I go to an establishment and they just say anything to shut the customer up because they can't figure out how to apply a coupon. If you can't figure it out go find someone who can. If this happened to someone else and they were not pushy enough they would have been pressured to pay the $18. read more

After a really horrible experience at Uni K Wax on the other side of town, I got a recommendation from a friend to come to Brazil's. I was wary of coming to yet another new place to get the hair ripped out of my skin, but I was going on a beach vacation so I figured I had nothing to lose (except, hair, skin, money, dignity, etc..). I was able to book an appointment online, which I greatly appreciated. I booked a few services and woke up to one of them cancelled. I called Brazil's and they informed me that they condensed some of my services, saving me money (YAS). They also worked to make sure I had the same waxer for all of my services, which is much more comfortable. Brazil's is clean, quiet and the staff was super professional. My waxer was sweet and quick, and she really did her best to make the whole experience as painless and dignified as possible. Their pricing was affordable and I left hairless in the places I asked to be hairless in. That's really all you can ask for, but sometimes it's asking too much. All told, I will definitely go back to have any waxing services done, and you should too! PS - they'll give you a 5% discount for your birthday if you have your ID and it's within a few days! read more

My first experience of Brazil's was at their location in Jacksonville. I was extremely nervous about getting a full Brazilian for the first time but was treated with amazing care. I've been hooked every since! Even when I moved back to Gainesville, I would drive to Jacksonville to get my Brazilians done at Brazil's. Needless to say, when Gainesville got a Brazil's, I was STOKED! The location is so convenient for me as a grad student and the facility is pristine. Their recent renovations are modern and tranquil giving Brazil's a spa getaway feel. The receptionists are kind and caring, creating such a friendly and fun environment. They never make me forced to purchase extra services or packages (although I totally recommend doing a waxing package- buy 4 get 1 free is a steal!). As far as technicians go, I've been able to try a lot of them! They are all insanely skilled but Sarah is by far my favorite! I call her a waxing goddess because she seriously does some divine waxing! She's quick, precise, and doesn't make you feel awkward while doing it. I recommend her to all my friends and family. I seriously can't say enough positive things about Gainesville's Brazil's Waxing Center. If you were on the fence about it, hop right off and head over there to see Sarah! If you're reading this review, chances are you're contemplating getting a Brazilian wax. Let's be real: yes, they hurt. There's no avoiding it. But honestly, it's something I feel like people should try at least once. Yeah it hurts, but the result is so nice afterward plus you don't have to do any maintenance down there if you plan on going swimming or to the beach. I've gotten Brazilians at this location and one in Jacksonville and like the efficiency of Brazil's Waxing Center. At this location, Karen was the technician who did mine. She was super funny and personable and was great at distracting me. For pain tolerance reference, I've gotten my underarms waxed for several years and only recently started getting Brazilians. They hurt the most for the first 3 waxes, but as the hair gets thinner they hurt less and less. Honestly, the first time was the most painful and then after it was totally doable! A few tips for first time waxers: do NOT go work out right after your Brazilian or go swimming/do anything that could clog your pores for AT LEAST 24-48 hours after. If you ignore this recommendation from the technician, I almost guarantee you will get ingrown hairs. No one wants that. I actually really like the exfoliate and ingrown hair serum that they sell there, but I don't think the soap is worth the money. Bottom line: just try it!! read more

My Brazilian waxing appointment was about as good as it gets in my opinion. I think this business is a small chain. Karen, the woman who gave me my first waxing was wonderful, kind and funny. I was told that Karen and some of her colleagues moved here to Gville solely for the purpose of opening this location, which I think is better then searching for a completely new staff for a completely new store. The spaces are really nice and clean, almost sterile looking. The appointment was fast as it could get for someone like me who hadn't gotten a brazilian in some time. Brazils was my first time getting a brazillian wax last November before a vacation. I scheduled with Nancy and she was wonderful, when its your first time she eases your fears and lets you of what she's doing and what the products do as she uses them during the appointment, she also gives you a warning for the more painful areas and what to expect. I felt so comfortable, I have since been back multiple times and I always schedule with Nancy. The wax they use is wonderful, leaves the skin so smooth and soft, better than anything you could buy off the shelf. read more

Before I begin, I just want to disclose that this has nothing to do with the technician who did my Brazilian. Karen was super sweet and made sure I was comfortable at all times. There were some hairs missed here and there, which I only realized afterwards. In fact I didn't really have any issues with anyone initially, besides the front desk staff who weren't rude but weren't really warm, which you would expect as much, especially with a first time customer such as myself. Anyhow, the issues with my experience came after the fact. A few hours after my wax, I felt some stinging/irritation but I put it off thinking it was just my skin being overly sensitive, which has never really happened to me before. However, yesterday I began to feel some irritation almost similar to the feeling of razor burn which is odd because that has never happened to me post wax ever. When I took a look, I had little bumps with painful white heads all over the area, which seems like folliculitis. I called over and spoke with Adrienne to get some advice or anything they would recommend. She was less than forthcoming and almost condescending. I explained to her the situation and she instantly wanted to place the blame on me and my aftercare. Keep in mind this is not my first time getting waxed, so I am more than comfortable with the aftercare. (No excessive sweating, no showering within 24 hrs, cold water, and loose clothing.) The only difference now is the location, i.e. Brazil's. She went on to say no other clients had EVER experienced this issue because all the products are organic so it MUST be my fault, especially reporting this two days after the wax. When I explained to her that I have done nothing differently than previous times, all she wanted me to do was head there and purchase a repair product. So in reality, she wasn't really trying to make sure I was okay or comfortable, she just wanted to push and sell a product and blame the customer. I got no real help from her and for someone who is the manager of such a highly rated establishment, I expected much more. To me this is not adequate customer care. Needless to say, I will not be going back. read more
