Compassionate place to say good by It is never easy to say good by to your loyal companion of 14 years but we were faced with that decision... I cannot say enough about Dr Ashley and the way she helped us through this difficult process. They had been our vet for years but this trip stands our in my mind of what you would want form someone helping you face what was best for our loyal pet. They stored our pets remains until we could travel back to Louisiana to bring her home. When I went to pickup her remains I noticed a candle with a sign that said when the candle was lit to be respectful, someone was saying good by to their pet... I found this very touching. We took our dog their with an open gaping wound from a cyst that had ruptured. They did not touch him or help in any way. Their solution was to have surgery and sent him home. We went home an did sock baths with epson salt and healed him ourselves. Never went back or ever will go back. Too expensive too. read more

Came here on a referral from a friend, and I'm so glad I did! I live in League City, and my vet there said that my 7 year old German Shepherd has stage 3 dental decay, and she needs a dental cleaning under anesthesia. They quoted me $880. Brazos Woods Vet quoted me $280. They called me and told me that my German Shepherd's teeth were in great condition and that she has the teeth of a 3 year old. I truly appreciated their honesty and integrity in not price gouging. I will never go back to my vet in League City who only wants my money and doesn't have my dogs best interest in mind. On top of that, the staff here is so kind and they provided me with three different dental treat samples for my dog. Highly recommended! read more

Both our girls are clients here. We love and care for and spoil these girls more than you do yours, I have no doubt about that, so when I say this clinic does the same for our pets, I mean it. The staff have been kind and our recent spay visit was met and enhanced with nail polish, humor, kindness, a follow up call the next day, and honestly a gorgeous incision which hasn't in this first 36 hours of recovery seemed to cause any discomfort at all. After performing routine surgery on our family's dog, Dr. Ashley sent her home before she was fully conscious and shortly before they closed for the night. A few hours later, the dog began bleeding from the rectum and died. The following day the deceased dog was taken to Dr. Ashley, where she apologized and offered to have the dog cremated at no charge and no charge for the procedure. Unfortunately, almost two weeks later, the office never called to arrange delivery of the ashes. After a call, we were notified they disposed of the dog and have no recollection of the conversation. After numerous calls to Dr. Ashely she has still not returned any of my calls. This Dr. lacks morality and should not be practicing medicine. This is not the first time this has happened, according to the Texas Veterinary Board. Please do not use. read more

If I could give them no stars, I would!! I have 3 dogs and this is the place we would go, but as of today I will never bring another pet here again. I have a senior dog who started having hip pain last week. It got progressively worse, so Thursday I called to see if I could get an appointment for her. I explained that my dog was, by this time, in severe pain and was having a hard time walking. I was told that there were no appts available on Friday afternoon or Saturday, but I could be put on a cancellation list. The receptionist told me to also call back and check on openings. First thing Friday morning I called to see if anything had opened up. I spoke with a different receptionist, so I went through the problem again, letting her know her pain was severe, she was uncomfortable and having a hard time walking. I was told again that nothing was available for that day or the next (Saturday). I let her know I was on the cancellation list and she said they would call if something opened up. I never heard from anyone. Come today, I noticed my dog had gotten worse and had now stopped eating, so I called this morning again. I explained the problem and the worsening symptoms and how I'd like her to be seen today. I was told I could have an emergency appt and I told the receptionist that I could bring her at 11:45. She said that was fine. Around 11:20 I got a call to verify if I was bringing my dog in. I told her yes, around 11:45 like I told the first lady. I soon got another call and the lady told me that the vets go to lunch from 12-1 and that my dog wouldn't be seen until after 1. I went over the problem with the lady again and told her I was told I could bring her at the time we discussed. She told me that wasn't an option. Now, I am furious. I've called several days with no luck on getting an appt for my SICK dog and now when I have a chance to come in I'm told that it isn't available. I asked the lady if same day work in appts are available for this reason and she said yes, but that I'd have to call early for them. I then told her that I called first thing Friday morning and was still turned away. I even told her I was on the cancellation list and she told me that they don't call people on that list for work in appts. I told her I shouldn't have been put on that list then since I had a sick pet who needed immediate attention. I told her that her employees suck because my dog needed to be seen and no one was helping me. She stood by the ignorance of her employees, told me she was the manager when I then asked to speak to one and still wouldn't do anything to help me get my dog in in the time frame I was able to. I hung up frustrated and very upset by the treatment of the office staff. For them to post about how much they care about the communities pets on Facebook, you would think I could have gotten my senior dog seen when she was in pain and needing treatment. Luckily I was able to get into Freeport Vet Clinic today and my dog was seen and started on a course of treatment all within an hour. I hope that their vets see this and address it with the office staff and their unprofessional office manager. My pets are like my children and I won't sit back and do nothing when the people who are supposed to help refuse to do so. I will tell this story on any review platform for their business!!! read more

I have seen both Dr. Ashley and Dr. Kova at Brazos Woods Vet Clinic. Dr. Ashley helped my family through my dog's kidney disease and her euthanasia. She made the process much easier for us. Dr. Kova now sees our new dog. She has been kind and informative. I feel very comfortable in the care that both doctors have provided to my pets and will continue to use them to care for our dog. read more

I brought my dog in because he was very sick and wouldn't eat for over a week I paid them almost 400$ in bills for them to tell me they do not know what was wrong and they offered to do more testing for additional charges when I tried to explain that I didn't get paid till the end of the week and asked for a payment plan of some sort. I told them I had 90$ left they said they would put him down for my last 90$. Luckily I found another vet who treated him properly and worked out a payment plan for me and my fur baby. He is alive and very healthy today no thanks to the doctors who offered to put him down for my last dollar. read more

My husband took our dog in for a cough - it was a honking type cough. We have been going to Dr. Ashley for a long time. The dog is 13 years old. She gave medication for a cough and antibiotic. He did not seem any better at all and he kept taking the dog back. After two weeks I suggested he take the dog to another vet who diagnosed the dog with congestive heart failure. Low and behold after an injection of lasix, he is not coughing as much. and seems better already. read more

I am almost 60 and have always had pets. Hands down, this is the best vet I've ever been to! This place is compassionate, communicative, friendly and affordable. My dogs get excited every time we pull into the drive. When my support dog was near the end of the rainbow, I couldn't stand the thought of her inside on a cold table in her last minutes. Dr. Ashley and staff met me outside under a tree instead. I couldn't ask for a sweeter ending and then we all cried together. Both vets are amazing but after so many intimate moments together, I consider her a dear friend as well. You go girl!!! Such a great place to take your animals. The staff is helpful and kind especially if you have a loud dog like myself. I own a german shepperd whom I love and will do anything for him of course he hates the veterinarian office.What animal doesnt? Thanks to the staff who helped calm him and showed how he was welcomed with treats. Both doctors are great and very informative and with tons of knowledge about animals. I go to Mr. Gonzales but if he isn't around Ms. Ashley is just as great. They both have different skills of course. A great thing Mr. Gonzales does is clip the nails complementary which I enjoy every visit. They are always doing their best for your animals and teaching you tricks along the way to be successful with your animal. Growing up my mother always used this veterinarian clinic so I figured I would use them too when I got my first dog. I've been there a total of 4 times for various reasons. I can't tell you the actual doctors name or what he or she even looks like. You only talk to the girls at the front desk and the "nurses" in the back. I don't know if it's common to not ever meet the actual veterinarian but I'm not comfortable.. especially when my dog was put to sleep and had teeth pulled and cleaned. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Unless of course you are okay with not knowing much about the facility. read more

The friendly staff/front desk go out of their way to be pleasant and helpful. The Vets seem to have a good relationship with their staff as well, so the entire atmosphere is relaxed. Decent prices. They used to be cheaper when Dr. Johnson owned the office, but I feel the care is more comprehensive without being a sales pitch. Dr. Ashley and her staff are second to none. While visiting her clinic on a more routine and unrelated issue, she found a massive tumor on my 11 1/2 year old chocolate labs spleen by feeling his stomach. She set the surgery up for the following week and truly saved his life as it was slowly rupturing. They did the surgery today and everything went perfect. When picking him up they were all so kind and informative. Dr. Ashley and her staff truly saved my dogs life and I am forever grateful. I would obviously recommend this clinic to anyone! read more

They demand payment before they will schedule an appointment. If you have any problem with their service they will pretend to care in front of other customers then call you later and threaten you. If you are hard of hearing they will say you are rude when you don't acknowledge them and expect you to kiss their %$*&s for not hearing them. On top of that they overbook appointments in case people don't show up so expect a 30 to 45 minute wait. In short if you enjoy being bullied and sitting in a waiting room then this is the place to take your pets. read more

I took my dog into the clinic to be spayed, that's all. When I returned that afternoon to pick up my dog my bill was 339.00 ! When making the appointment I was quoted a price of 250.00. Come to find out they gave my dog NEEDLESS vaccines and heartworm testing without my consent. If they only took the time to notice the up to date rabies tag on her collar with her regular vet's name and phone number on it, and at least called them before preceding to run up my bill and put my dog through all of that. I was also charged for a consultation, I never even met Dr Ashley. My so called consultation was with a medical assistant! I found Brazos Wood vet clinic to be underhanded, deceiving and only out for the almighty buck, if I could do that horrible experience over again I would have gone somewhere else ,that's my advice to you. read more

Took our dog in for weeping eye two weeks ago. Was given eye drops for treatment. Went in today for annual shots and asked that her eye be relooked at as it continued to weep. Their response: too bad, make another appointment. I said this was a followup of previous appointment. Their response : too bad, make another appointment as they had back to back appointments and had had an emergency. Looking around their reception area was empty except for me and my dog. They seemed more interested in maximizing their appintment fees than caring for my dog. Very disappointed. read more

dr. ashley is very nice and compassionate but since she took over the clinic from dr. johnston, she continuously adds new charges and must haves for your animals. in a period of four weeks the rules in her office for just a rabies vaccine has gone from come in anytime and wait your turn and no appt. necessary to must have an exam prior to the rabies vaccine with an extra fee of 25.00 plus if the dr. does not consult with you on the exam (done in the back) or 35.00 if she consults with you in person on the exam. ?????what is she pulling here??? office quotes; new state rule. another lost client here!!!! read more

After using several vets in the area that were specified for my foster pets, I'm so happy to report that Brazos Woods is still my favorite for my own pets and one that I'm really happy to recommend. While most of the vets in Brazosport are good, the prices here are almost always better and you get a discount for being police or military etc. When I go in, not just Dr. Ashley recognizes me and my pets, but almost every member of the staff does as well. It's the little things that make them stand out: For example, knowing that my chow mix has grain allergies and remembering not to offer him a treat. It is a reminder to me that they care about him, and want him to be healthy and happy. Really great veterinarian. read more

Dr. Ashley is a fantastic veterinarian! She has been wonderful with our pets. Last fall we had to have our beloved elderly beagle euthanized, and she and her staff were very caring and sympathetic. We even received a sympathy note from the practice. Our remaining pets are elderly, and our cat requires monthly shots so we are in the office frequently. We have never been charged for something we didn't ask for. The prices charged at Brazos Woods veterinary clinic are very reasonable compared to some other local veterinary practices. We had used several other local veterinarians before Dr. Ashley came here, so we know about the fees charged at other places. She doesn't try to talk you into expensive food, medicine, or procedures that your pet doesn't need like we have experienced elsewhere. I would recommend her to anyone with a pet. read more
