Their customer service is top-notch, and they set expectations clearly, which makes for a great overall experience. It's hard to say enough without sounding repetitive, but one thing that truly stands out is Ethil. He clearly puts his customers' needs and satisfaction first (I'm sure often above his own). His integrity and genuine care show in everything he does, and it's reflected in his team as well, which is rare to find these days. If I could give zero stars I would…read more.... Worst car service I've ever had. I understand I'm a female but what they did was sloppy and disrespectful. We took our car to this shop to get fixed and they made the car worse then lied about it. September 14th I met up with the manager and was told to go next door and order parts for my ($400 in parts) 2017 Honda Civic. I was told they would paint the bumper on the 15th and put everything in on the 16th. They didn't pain the bumper until the day of and it was a terrible paint job. Paint running. You can see where they tried to scrape paint off. September 16th I bring the car in, they were to put on a radiator support and a new bumper. When I go to pick up the car the mansuor the man that worked on the car tried to act like all my service lights were on when I dropped it off when this wasn't the case. Before I dropped the car off it was driving perfectly fine never had any issues with how the car drove, and the only serivice lights that was on was the tire light. Automatically he states that he did not touch anything electrical. Why he felt the need to point that out? We found out shortly after. He asked if we want to drive it and he gets in the driver seat to try and avoid me from driving it. When I asked to drive the car it did not drive the same at all. There was no power to my car. He then states that it must be a system issue. Drives the car around the corner nowhere to be seen instead of driving it back into the shop to fix it. Then later on he states to my wife that there was three wires that he accidentally broke while trying to fix the cars and is joking about it like it was funny. He brings the car back and it's driving better but all the lights were still on. He stated that the lights would go off in 60k miles. I drive to work and on my way home I stop at the gas station and as soon as I go to leave the car loses power again and shuts off. We take it back to the shop and the guy is nowhere to be found when he knew we were bringing the car in. Some new guys worked on it. Stated the car should be fixed and good to go now. It wasn't we were driving to work and the car overheated and shut off. We open the hood and the radiator cap wasnt put on correctly. The cap to my battery is missing, the stick to hold up the hood is now broken as well as the latch to lock the hood. The whole situation was terrible. Idk how people actually take their vehicle here.

I worked for this place for over a year setting up the new shop and installing engines,tuning and anything that needed done. Dan Atkins and his crooked "wife" ultimately burned me pretty bad. I watched Dan Atkins lie to customers, inflate prices and exaggerate work needed on repairs. The guy is a solid crook and a real piece of sh** to put it nicely. Bureau Of Automotive Repair has an extensive file on this creep. He was shut down in the Bay Area (S.F.) for his shady business practices and mismanagement of customers money. He will just keep your car trust me. Customers who leave their cars there can expect them to be dented,scratched and there will absolutely be feral cats living in your pride and joy. You can see for yourself when you visit. It's more of an animal shelter than an Automotive Shop. There are always no less than 60 to 70 feral cats living in the shop and in your car with no intention of cleaning it up. Dan Atkins is absolutely a con man and a liar. Don't let him charm you. Those of you who have your cars there should retrieve them immediately regardless of their condition. B.R.C. or "Budget Engine Company " was reopened at 200 Primo Way under Dan's common law wife's name Kathy. He was shut down by B.A.R. and for good reason. Good luck to anyone who's got a vehicle there or paid him in advance to build an engine. Your money is gone. If you have a transmission in the shop, there's a 95% chance it will not operate correctly when he's finished. He has no clue how to build a transmission and often incorporates used parts such as clutches,pumps and even gaskets into customers engines and transmissions. 95% of the transmissions that I installed at this business had serious problems and usually had to be pulled and reworked and even then they never worked correctly. I worked hard for Dan,often below minimum wage thinking I was helping get this business started. I did without a lot and Dan promised to make it up to me. At one point he offered a broken down El Camino to compensate for my wages. After fixing it up and making worth having He refused to give me the title and even called the police. I heard that Dan really knew about cars, especially older classics and was disappointed that he moved from the Bay Area to Modesto but believe me it was worth the drive! Dan spent hours explaining different options to my son without charging a dime. He actually enjoys cars and transforming them to the owner's dream car. Jim the owner and mechanic is quite a character…read more Tell it like it is, straight to the point and dry humor. If you are looking for a Chick Fil A, "my pleasure" experience then he may not be your guy. If you want an honest and great mechanic then this is your spot. A friend referred me here, this friend had taken his truck to a few places to check the engine light and they all would charge $75 to $125 to just hook up the computer to it. One place hooked up the computer for free then told him he would have to leave it and without opening hood estimated about $1,500 to repair the error. My friend took it to Jim's on a referral, Jim opened the hood looked around found the engine oil cap was off, put it back on, cleared the fault which was the only issue and sent my friend on his way without a charge.. I took my project truck, a 1975 F250 which was running rough so I figured it needed new plugs and timing. I also needed a brake job, which another place wanted to charge me $950 but that was just looking at the truck from a distance without even checking it out. About 2 hours after I dropped it off, Jim called me to come pick it up. He said the brake drums were fine and then gave me an expert education in my truck and the parts it needed. It was a proportioning valve and a master cylinder but due to age I had to go search the parts myself, "he would not waste time looking for hard to find parts", instead told me once I find the parts bring back and he would take care of it. As far as the driving rough and tune up, Jim said my truck did not need anything but that the "genius" that worked on the truck last replaced the carburetor with not an original part but a newer carb that had an electronic choke but did not hook it up correctly so my truck was basically driving with the choke in carburetor engaged, not good. So Jim wired it and my truck was now running incredible! Jim refused to charge me for it, "he fixed that for him, so he did not have to suck up all the fumes from the truck running bad due to the genius that tried to fix it last". I Came back after spending $80 dollars on the parts which I found in the east coast and after replacing the parts and the brake lines Jim charged me $100.....For everything.... I know!!!!! Jim Told me what I needed to fix next and referred me to the muffler place next door to fix the muffler which is what "he" would do. Jim is awesome!! I love this guy! I got a new muffler which I had already gotten a quote somewhere else and those places wanted $800 to $1200, because my truck was so old. Place next door said because Jim sent me they charged me $450 for a new pipe and muffler! I am taking "Tom", that's my trucks name back to Jim to work in the power steering next week and will continue to take my truck and refer him to anyone that has car issues.

Update - May 2025:…read more Three years later, I'm still going only to Jim, and here's why. My car recently developed a difficult oil leak that most shops would have either missed or charged me repeatedly to guess their way through. Not Jim. He replaced the engine main seal, and when the leak continued, he voluntarily replaced the oil pan without charging me. Still not satisfied, he spent another full day and found the real issue: the original brand-new engine seal part was defective. He claimed the warranty and fixed it again at no extra cost. Jim did not stop until the problem was truly solved, and he stood by his work the entire time. He never pushed unnecessary repairs, never made excuses, and never charged more than the original quote. He treated my car like his own. That is rare. This was not about trial and error. It was about doing the job right, no matter how long it took. That kind of honesty, skill, and dedication is why I will not trust anyone else with my car. If you are looking for a mechanic who is honest, thorough, and genuinely cares, Jim is the one. I would not take my car anywhere else.
