It's been a bit since I've been up this way in Northern Idaho. This place hasn't changed at all. The sandwiches are still great and the bakery goodies are fantastic. The staff are friendly and quick to make the sandwiches. When things slow down, someone is always cleaning. There are four tables that each have at least room for four and there are two booths. For motorcycles: The parking lot and entrance is now fully paved with loads of room to turn around. This is a worthwhile stop. read more

We stopped in with the grandkids, 4 & 2 years old... we had a blast they and the little shopping cart's Us drooling over the handmade furniture etc... decided to have lunch and the food was so delicious we went back to the grocery side to load up on sandwich fixes and fresh sourdough bread yum... of course we had to get a few pastries for the road... If we are ever back this way these lovely ladies have our hearts and our business... a must try and that's no lie at the first bite you'll know why...!!! read more

Very disappointing! The young woman at the counter was irritated that we didn't know exactly what we wanted and couldn't spit our order out quicker! ( There was no one behind us.). I was angry when she handed me a device to pick the percent for a tip. Since I hadn't received my order I couldn't say what a tip might be. The tip options started at 18% which would be over my limit for a place that really gave no service...we were called to pick up our sandwiches and told where to get our beverage. I was told that I had to pick a tip to finish the process. If I had been informed, I would have used cash which is what I recommend if you happen to be at this place read more

Super good. We had the soup and it was excellent - I know it's soup but it was good. Lots of fresh baked items and the country store on the side was worth the visit. It was a pleasant surprise and they deserve more than five stars. read more

This place is amazing. I grew up in Bonners and this has always been my favorite place to get doughnuts. Their sandwiches are probably the best I've ever had. They have an option to build your own on the menu, and I've used that several times. they have an online order option through Clover which makes things even more convenient. Their staff is friendly and polite, and I always feel like I'm welcome there no matter how swamped they are with customers. Their lobby is always kinda loud, but that's never been a problem for me as I always get mine to go. The place is clean and neat with a rustic feel to it. 10 out of 10, definitely recommend. read more

Stopped in here to grab some ice and a sandwich on my way to Kootenai Falls. The ladies working were very kind and the sand which hit the spot. The slice the meat and cheese right there. Fresh and delicious. I took mine to go, but they have a seating area if you're looking to sit and eat. read more

I really wish they would offer hummus and/or avocado for their sandwiches. All their sandwiches have meat and cheese, so vegans don't get much in the way or protein or sustenance. Their is no vegetarian sandwich, so you'll have to order a meat sandwich and ask them to just give you veggies. read more

Grainy, voluminous, sweet, savory and toasty all at once...just the way God intended. Right? You will probably never end up in Northern Idaho (unless you are heading to Nelson, Canada...a super bohemian river town, just across the border), but if you are lucky enough to be heading up highway 1 to the Canadian border, consider the Bread Basket your last chance to celebrate your patriotism with a good old fashioned Mennonite sammy. Wow. What a great place. We had build your own sandwiches with ham and roast beef. They were packed full of meat on freshly baked bread at the location. The desserts were awesome. We had several of the hand pies, including cherry, huckleberry, marionberry and cherry. Super tasty pies packed full of fresh fruit. We also had the frosted cookie. It was super, with a buttery taste and perfectly sweet frosting. We enjoyed them so much we ordered more to go. I wish I could have dessert here every day. Very reasonable prices too. The stuff here is pretty good if you know what to expect. The bread is American puff bread, which means it'll be squishy instead of crusty, but it's still pretty flavorful as far as such things go. Donuts are very good and taste fresh and homemade. Sandwiches are decent but unexceptional. If you need a place to stop on Highway 2, it's worth the few minute drive off the highway. read more

After staying the night in Sandpoint and heading up to Canada, we needed a quick place to grab some breakfast. After seeing the good reviews, we choose this place. Let's say it did not disappoint. We were greeted by a bunch of delicious pastries in the window. Fresh bread adorned the shelves as well as some ready to bake pizzas. We decided on a breakfast sandwich and breakfast burrito. Both were large and very modestly priced. My husband states it was the best breakfast burrito he has ever ate. We also grabbed some zucchini bread to take with- which was great as well. FRY PIE! You must try them all! They were so delicious! My favorite was the marionberry and huckleberry. My daughter's favorite was the cherry and peach. The sugar cookies were yummy too! My favorite place in Bonner's Ferry. I'm addicted to their food and oddly crave it all the time. Even though it's just simple sandwiches and pastries, everything I've tried is great and always consistent. It's very fresh and everything's made to order. There are a ton of different options, my favorites being a half sandwich and cup of soup, and the sugar cookies (they even have take home pizzas, pastas, pastries, bread, etc.). This is a fantastic place to grab some lunch. We've been there twice, first time a great hamburger and the second time we had turkey sandwiches. We have visited Bonners Ferry for that past three years. We discovered the Bread Basket Bakery the first year. The sandwiches are DELICIOUS. BUT...they are large so hubby and I NOW order half OR share one. The breads are wonderful. Each year we bring home the Sourdough. THIS year I'm purchasing TWO loaves of Lemon and poppyseed bread also, ONE for home and the other for a group of KDG-Sr. High School ladies I'm joining in Las Vegas after I leave Bonners Ferry. I'm really perplexed how another reviewer degraded the donuts. EVERY pastry is delicious. ALSO...our sandwiches were ready within ten-fifteen minutes. The Mennonite young ladies are VERY sweet and helpful and our sandwiches arrived promptly! read more
