The service, impeccable. Even being freshly opened (just last week) and the least high end of the 22 Bishopsgate locations I couldn't find a flaw. The details are perfect. Heck, the soap in the bathrooms is even amazing. The staff all wear matching shoes! The details! My goodness.
The Tempranillo carafe we had was really good. And it paired well with the whole meal. The Caesar salad was nice, the large was a good size to share as an appetizer, and it does include the anchovy.
The sticky toffee pudding was served tableside with the caramel sauce and coffee ice cream and it was also so good. The dish was very hot though, like so hot the caramel carmelized to hard in some spots before we could eat it.
The one downfall (and it's kinda a big one) was the beef Wellington. It was REALLY herb heavy in the duxelles, and honestly the filet tasted more like prime rib than filet which was super disappointing. I know it's a hard item to make, we've done it at home more than once, but it's Gordon's signature dish so I expected to like it. The presentation was 10/10 though so props for that! read more
