Let me start with saying that break is by far the best billiards in Astoria. What separates break billiards from the rest is the young diverse crowd it attracts that i love. There are plenty of billiards in Astoria, but majority of them doesn't play decent music that attracts the younger crowd. Thats what brings me back to break billiards. I use to come here years ago with a ex girlfriend of mine and we use to come here and pregame before we went across the street to bum ass bungalo lounge. The drinks are priced very reasonable here and thats why i always came here before going to bungalo, cause i knew i could get drunk here for cheap and wouldn't have to spend so much money when i walked into bungalo. Mind you i was younger, so i wasn't making the money I'm making now lol. I notice they got new management and a lot of new board games and arcades on the premises, which is also cause it keeps you occupied while waiting for a pool table. They have about maybe 8-12 pool tables, but it gets really packed in here so theirs always a wait for pool tables. The wait for pool tables is usually fast depending on how packed it is, but you give the hostess at the bar your number and they will text you once a table is available. I came in with my family and friends to check out this bar because my sister heard good reviews about it. TIP: be prepared to look around for parking for a while. This was a really fun atmosphere we had visited this past Saturday. I loved it. This bar/restaurant is not so big but it is a good size for the Astoria area. There are tons of games to play such as pool, connect four (life size & normal), uno (you are allowed to stack, lol) and other fun activities. It was super packed and the music was crazy loud. I loved every minute of it. Our waitress was cool but she must if had to handle a lot of tables because we did not see her to often. I'm glad Break is open again because it's a good place to watch a game given the big space and all the TVs. But I'm sad to see it's the same old stuff. The food is definitely above average and the bartenders are friendly--it's a great experience if you're sitting at the bar. But if you're at a table or high-top, you have to use the servers, and it's a nightmare. I came to Break with a group on a recent Sunday to watch football. About half the tables were full, so not that busy. We were there for six hours and, I kid you not, our server did not come to our table a single time to ask us if we needed anything. Every time we wanted to order, we had to say something to get her attention as she walked by every 25 to 30 minutes or so. And she wasn't busy: Whenever we looked for her, she was down at the end of the bar, joking around with the other staff. The one time we got to order food, she completely forgot to put the order in, so we waited an hour for nachos. No apology, of course. It's important to note that this isn't a new thing for Break, and it wasn't just this one server. I've been coming to Break for six years and it's always the same thing. It would take you 30 seconds to walk up to the bar to get a round, but instead you're forced to order from servers who disappear for half an hour at a time. (And if you do get impatient and go up to the bar, suddenly the server will come out from behind the bar to scold you about it.) When you do get the server's attention, they make you feel like you're inconveniencing them by... asking them to do their job? It all absolutely costs Break money, because 1) we would have ordered more if we had been able to (instead, we got four rounds over the course of six hours, because that's how many times we were able to get her attention). And 2) we haven't been back since. So, not sure this is a case of the manager hiring their friends or simply valuing the wrong qualities in a server. But it's bizarre to me that this has been the case at Break for years: A great experience sitting at the bar and a terrible one sitting at a table. Everyone I've talked to about Break says the same thing. It's an easy problem to fix, Break! Hire people who want to work there and train them. First and foremost, I have been going here for years and it's more or less decent. It's a decent spot for pool, ping pong and other games! However, did this place forget we're living through and in a pandemic? In a place that pool sticks, games and other accessories are shared, there is not one hand sanitizer dispenser in the whole establishment. Here is the kicker, the bathroom is apparently all out of hand soap! What?!?!?! My hubby had to leave to go to our car to pick up our hand sanitizer bottle and wipes. When we asked if there was hand sanitizer in any area, we were told that we can be given wet naps. Also, no one wears masks, it's almost as if you're not allowed to. I'm honestly dumb founded and upset by this. At this point I would not go back just based off their lack of consideration for their customers. In addition to several pool tables, there's ping pong, darts, shuffle board, jenga, human size connect four and hoop shots. There is a huge bar with good beers on tap. I came here with my fiancé and a friend and we had a blast. We played almost everything and enjoyed every second of it. We didnt order food, but people around us did and it looked like solid bar food. The shuffle board is free to play. The pool tables are $9 per hour. The darts are $3 per game. As a non-Queens resident, I never knew this bar existed in Astoria, but I was surprised at how awesome this bar was. It's sort of tough operating in the territory of Studio Square, but Break Bar is absolutely a worthy alternative. The space was huge with many picnic-style tables, a billiards area and LOTS and LOTS of TVs all around. I came here on a Saturday evening at about 10pm and, as expected, it was packed and very loud inside. Despite the large crowd, our party was able to secure a few small round tables with high stools. It's obvious that many people come here to play a few games of billiards, but there were also so many forms of entertainment --- 2 ping pong tables, a basketball hoop game, a small shuffleboard and table games, such as, Connect 4, Cards Against Humanity, Jenga and a regular deck of cards. As for the Billiards area, it pretty much dominated 2/3 of the space and a table could be rented for $14/hour after hopping onto a wait list. At around 1am, the place began emptying out a bit and that's when you can really do some damage here and have some fun, but that's a longggg wait. The bottom line is that the spacing is great, there were many different forms of entertainment, TVs wall to wall and it was conveniently located in the heart of Astoria. The only gripe our group had wasn't about the bar itself, but the parking situation. It's very tough to find a parking spot outside, but if you're willing to do the circle around, it's worth the wait to check out this cool, spacious sports bar. read more

My guy friend took me and my bestie here so it was our first time. We sat down for 5-10 mins and no one greeted us so me and my bestie went over to the bar so the guy was going to sent over the waitress. Pretty spacious venue with many pool tables, ping pong tables, arcade games, and the bootleg giant blocks (jenga) with special messages written by who knows. Well, I could have sworn I wrote a review back in 2010. Here we are, 3 years after I discovered this gem and it is still one of my favorite places to spend a Friday night in Astoria. I discovered this place the summer I was at the height of my excessive pool-playing fixation and came here on an afternoon to play. I remember the pool was cheaper as we bought more drinks (non-alcoholic, of course) and overall, the pool came down to less than $10. Fast-forward some years later with some fine lines & wrinkles and rusty pool skills, the place has once again failed to disappoint me. Came back on a Friday night and the pool tables were all packed, so a girlfriend and I ended up waiting at the bar. Beers (drafts & bottles) are only $4 and the bartenders are super fun and energetic to be around. The cocktails here, for some reason, are gross here, so it's only worth it to get a beer or a soft drink. It did take a while to get a table but c'mon, free hour with a Yelp check-in and the bartender girl was more than happy to let me use the deal! This is one of the very few grown-up places in Astoria where you can actually find an arcade (even though it is small) and have a great time plus, you don't have to worry about how you are dressed because the dress code is super casual! read more

Picnic bench style tables if you just want to order food and hang out. Games offered while you sit at those tables - Connect Four, Jenga, Gigantic Jenga, cards, and more. TV screens throughout. Ping pong, by the hour. Billiards, by the hour. We got there probably around 6pm on a Saturday. It was busy and we waited maybe half an hour for a billiard table to free up. I love this place! I haven't had this much fun in a long time. They have pool, ping pong, basket ball and arcade games and a dance floor. Young people come here (21-30 crowd) which is right up my alley! These folks are free spirited and not afraid to dance. They are friendly, not stuck up people. The guys are somewhat cute and if you look good they are not shy to strike up a conversation! They don't discriminate these guys like every shade of the rainbow. Coming to "Break Bar" helped me realize that there really is a such thing as terrible service. We met up with a few people in the afternoon. They recommend Break Bar, because they had coupons for discounts. I wasn't for the change, but I really had little choice in the matter. The bar is on the second floor of a large building. The walk up is steep and i noticed no elevator. So we began our climb into the pool hall. Let's make this very clear. The place is a pool hall with TV's. It's not really a sports bar because they don't play sound durning the game. They just have a lot of dance music going. The crowd is young, not a good place to meet people because most are in groups. But the hall is definitely decked out in sports flare. The place was cramped. Seating was limited so waiting was definitely necessary if you want to sit. They had games everywhere. You could play cards, Jingo, and pool. I definitely enjoyed that aspect of the place. But it falls short on service and food. Our waitress was one to remember. By remember I mean for how bad she was. She was almost nonexistent. My cousin ordered cauliflower which never came. We ordered drinks that were warm and she never came over expect to drop a check. I was so frustrated waiting for her to get a refill. Also, my brother complained that the wings weren't that good. He said they lacked flavor. Not to mention she didn't bring my brothers friend the ranch dressing he asked for. It seemed like this place was not for me. However one of the patrons told me come back when the playoffs aren't on. This is a great local sports bar where it's super relaxed and you can always can have a good time. They've got lots of large screens and TVs to watch any games going on. There's table games and over sized Jenga, connect 4, there's pool tables and ping pong tables and even some arcade games! Some of the staff sometimes can be rude but it goes get busy so I understand. Lived in Astoria my whole life and visited this place for the first time last week! I was stunned by how large it was, and trivia night on a Tuesday brought so many people in the door. Let your other staff members have access to the TVs! With so many TVs and only one person to change channels seems annoying for both the customers and staff. Food has been forgotten twice! I went with a friend to show them what I thought was a nice bar and to play pool, we ordered at 9:30pm some light bar food. I asked around 10:15pm about the food and they said its on the way, I keep asking till 12pm, they say the kitchen is closed and no order was in fact placed for what I paid for.
