Not many restaurants remain from the 2Oth century when I lived on the upper east side. (Makes me sound ancient, doesn't it?!). My eyes lit up when I saw Dorrian's. While nostalgia lured me in, tonight's dinner will bring me back. T's Guinness burger was fat and juicy, cooked exactly as requested (medium rare, leaning towards rare). Great fries, too! My Cobb salad with homemade ranch dressing, was filling and good. The 6 minute boiled egg was a nice touch. The bar was hopping when I lived there. And it still is. I used to frequent Dorrian's for brunch with my girlfriends. For scientific research (lol) I'll have to see if their bloody Mary's and brunch still measure up! read more

Not my favorite place in the neighborhood though it has been around for ages and is pretty much a staple on the Upper east side. Whenever I have come here which is not often the waiter / waitress has always been not the nicest and a bit rude. They have a big outdoor area that takes up some of the block. They have indoor seating and a private room too. This bar attracts alot of younger people in the neighborhood. So if you like or are in that bracket then this is your place! I have not had the food here but from what I have seen it looks like good bar food. read more

Although I've never eaten here and had planned on it not sure if I will now. Walking on the street a worker who was unnecessarily rude to me walking by I tried to move out of his way (no food in hand) but got caught moving the same way as him. He yelled "make a decision" at me, scoffed, and walked away. I just tried to move out of his way. If he could act like this to an innocent bystander I couldn't imagine how he acts to tables he's serving as well as coworkers. Went here last night (a Wednesday). Would recommend only coming here for drinks on a Friday or Saturday night when you are out on the Upper East Side. Solid drinks and not horribly priced. Such a terrible experience. My boyfriend and I walked through the door, before we could take a step we were met with the hostile bouncer who stated IDs immediately. We were then asked if we wanted to sit at the bar or at a table, we asked if we could sit at a table... the host looked around, and then said we don't sit parties for two. With a simple glance we saw many tables with two people seated. Such hostility, we both felt like we were simply not welcomed. Came here for drinks with a group of friends. The outdoor seating area extends very far down the street they setup on and there are two TV screens setup with sports. They make you order food if you want to sit at a table. We only wanted drinks so we bought a mandatory $1 slider (because executive orders), and drank on the sidewalk, watching some sports, and whatnot before deciding it was better to just chill at the apartment. Service I have to say was very good. The bartenders and wait staff are super talkative and friendly, jokes around a lot. However, this place is not foreign to me, I have some girl friends, just like many single ladies in NYC, that look for places to find men. It is such a bro-ish spot where people can eat, drink, and watch whatever game their hearts desire. The day I went, it was the Yankee's game (kill me now...). So while we were watching the game, we ordered food, drinks, and more drinks. Two managers were dropping their cards so I decided to try whatever I wanted to for the sake of this review. Soft pretzels: VERY hot but delicious. I am a sucker for a good soft pretzel and runny cheese. Wish I didn't have to share, but I didn't order it so I had to share. Nothing out of the ordinary, but nonetheless good. Wings: They have BBQ and hot wings. I only tried the hot wings, but it was delicious. Saucy and spicy. I'm a fan! Nachos: Lots of cheese both melted and runny. No other flavor and pretty bland. Not really a fan. Clam chowder: Wow! One of the best I've had. I hit it with some black pepper. It was really yummy. Wish there were some oyster crackers or something, but the soup was super good. Could have used chunkier clams though. It is definitely something I will be craving one of these days. Drinks: your typical bar booze. We had the pleasure of getting free Absolute Vodka because there was a rep so that was fun. My overall assessment of this place is that it is what it seems to be. It is a place for people to gather around, be men, and do men things. I am not sure how accurate my girl friends are about this place being a good place to find men though... I ordered a pie with peppers and french fries. It was excellent and not expected being that this place is a bar as well. People in the know realize this place has history, from Ny Yankees in the past coming here as well as celebrities. I had been here in the late 90's and the layout seems different but this is kinda one of the last "neighborhood" bars and classic joints left, that has a lot of history and authenticity. I think this place is as good as any other bar nearby, but is more of a staple in the local community. They've got Tuesday night karaoke, but the bar is generally very dark after 9:30 (probably to encourage more romantic activities?). The food seemed okay although we were only able to comment on the breakfast burger. Burger was cooked medium well, it was hot and juicy and nice poached egg on top with the English muffin looked like it worked well. Service was A+, but would be great if they had a drink menu, or at least could update the board with beers available. Would be great if they had some actually interesting drinks like every other bar in Manhattan, and would be cool if they stocked up on craft beer. Provide a good reason for coming here, and people will come, IMO read more

(Stereo)Typical sports bar, however, they haven't wised up yet that women also like to go to bars and think they can get away with horrible rude service (specifically the Monday bartender). As a former bar owner, I know how important a welcoming environment is. At least I can sleep better knowing that guy is getting sh*tty tips for his attitude. The other detail that tells a little about the kind of place this is is the vintage/antique black racist figurines flanking one of the shelves behind the bar. (I looked out for them after reading another yelp review) This would have been a 2 star review but we had a friendly female server once we went to a table. Chicken tenders were really flavorful and recommended. We also had nachos, wings, and mozzarella sticks and all were fine. I wouldn't order the wings again unless there is a buffalo sauce. The sweet sauce on ours was not my favorite. Beware of flat draft beer. Bartender tried to tell my friend the beer is meant to be that way when I know it really means it's the end of the keg! Probably isn't the worst sports bar you can go to but I also won't be returning as there are better ones that cater to a more diverse audience and are more friendly (and with a better beer selection). read more

This place is a Washington Redskins bar, if you're from DC *points you self* yes please. Feels good to have a home team bar so close. They remove the windows during the summer and also leave the air on. It's quite comfortable, like riding in a convertible, top down, air blasting. The menu is small but the choices are great. The steak was tasty, as we're the fish and chips. The sauce that comes with the fish is really good. Service is decent, it was empty, so she had time. I'll be back again for sure. Anyone giving less than 5 stars is taking themselves too seriously or thinks they are a NY Times Food critic or stingy. The place is great for what it is. The place feels like it's been there for 100 years but it's clean and fresh. It's a old-fashioned looking bar with upscale bar food. It's a place to get together with friends. The older American flags respectfully draped are a big plus. Outdoor seating. A mix of customers young and old. I've gone with people aged 25 to 75. The place felt like a more lively Cheers. The buffalo chicken wrap is amazing. The Brussel Sprouts (ordered as an appetizer) were amazing. For bar food and drinks the place is well above average! Again, this is a bar with great food. You're going to catch up with friends. We saw some people in the outdoor section on dates. Good spot for people watching. read more

Bar for kids and they rip you off with drinks! Ordered two vodka sodas and the overweight bartender who I'm guessing was either the mgr or maybe the owner gave such a sad pour that I had to say something. I used to bartend....So a long pour is when a bartender starts pouring alcohol into the glass then pulls the bottle high up in the air making a long stream that LOOKS like a lot of alcohol. If you see a bartender doing this...they are screwing you and you should ask for more alcohol or another drink/bartender! This sad joke of a "bartender" not only long poured but he didn't even bring the bottle high up in the air. He poured for maybe a second. Like barely any alcohol at all! So when I complained and said you just long poured me, there's no alcohol in those drinks. He immediately started arguing and angrily defended his pathetic bartending skills! My friend said don't bother arguing, so I gave my card. he continued to make a sour face and say things that I couldn't even hear. As he looked over at me, I complained to my friend and mimicked the long pour, explaining how they're ripping us off. The guy turns back and said forget it, you guys are out of here. He took the drink right out of my friends mouth and took my drink and poured them into the sink, and then had the bouncer throw us out. This sad, morbidly obese man should be cleaning the freaking toilets! He's clearly not a regular bartender with his very large gut and clueless bartending skills! Lots of other bars in the city... This is my first Yelp review, but I simply have to share. In May, my daughter and I were in NYC for a wedding. Long story short, my daughter was at the after party at Dorian's Red Hat and lost her purse. We called a couple times and they said it wasn't in the lost and found. We went there to look and the server, Ava, showed us the lost and found-no luck. As we were about to leave, Ava walked out from behind with the purse! She totally made my daughter feel better about the night before and her understanding words changed the entire vibe of our trip! Not only was the service over the top wonderful, but the food was excellent as well! We will definitely be stopping on our next trip to NYC! read more

You know when you go to a restaurant, and you aren't sure what you want to eat, so you ask the server what their favorite dish is? We came here for brunch and it was kind of like that, except there was some miscommunication where we tried to order meals and an hour and a half later a bunch of incorrect dishes came out. Sure I ordered eggs, but I appreciate your suggestion that I should have gotten a burger, and I also appreciate that you just brought out literally six extra burgers for our group despite only one person ordering one. By the end we were all just eating random dishes, with no relation to what we actually ordered. Terrible, terrible job. I assume most families don't actually come here to eat food, but if that was your plan you should definitely make a new one. 1/10. read more

We are local to the UES, and Dorrians has been an amazing staple to the neighborhood for a long time. There is a reason for it. They hosted my daughter's baptism brunch (~14 people) in their side cafe area. Jimmy was so accommodating with beginning plans, and getting things situated. Our server Evan was so wonderful, incredibly attentive, as was Michael. Cannot recommend them enough. Just an overall fun, casual, and local establishment that doesn't disappoint. read more

Greetings, much like service and your food order are not something you would receive here. We ordered a pizza with basil, cheese, and sauce and got no basil. We ordered French fries, and they didn't come with the pizza since they had forgotten them. There was my date, gluten intolerant and hungry for a while, yet neglected by this establishment.
