Completely unreliable. They were a NO show for a confirmed ride to the airport! The next day, I received an apology email with the promise of a free ride the next time I needed one. I had been a long time customer of Break to the Border. One year ago they did a round trip airport run for me. The trip was fine. My credit card was charged for FIVE trips instead of TWO. So for ONE YEAR, I've been trying to get my refund. Joe told me no problem we'll credit you ... told me that 20 times. Well, they still owe me close to $300. Bad business ... they should've written me a check when the credit card issue couldn't be resolved. ONE YEAR!!! Because I trusted the guy, I didn't try the credit card for reimbursement. Used them for years to get to and from LaGuardia. Kind and clear dispatchers. Always on time. Great drivers. And most of all a fair price. Same to hear they went out of business. Though Uber and Lyft are easy, at is always nice to have something, like Break to the Border, to rely on... read more

Service was slow, so therefore I was late for my flight I do not recommend the service!

I've used Break to the Border twice (for airport service), and both experiences have been very positive. Always on time (last time the driver arrived 10 minutes prior to scheduled pickup time) and the drivers are friendly and professional. Service to Newark is a bit on the pricey side if you live in WestCo, but they always include tax, toll and tip with their price once you book your appointment. And well- they get you to the airport on time, which is what matters the most. read more

NEVER EVER EVER USE THIS CAR SERVICE. The day after my ride, the owner accused me of being 20 minutes late for my 930pm ride, but I was IN THE CAR at 9:29pm. When I told her that I was not late, she attacked me and told me that I was picking a fight and that I am disgusting and was wasting her time. I found her extraordinarily offensive to continually abuse and accuse me of something that I did not do. I am sorry, Marisol, that you have to exist at all. You are a nasty person. Anytime I've used them for airport runs they were right on time. The drivers were very nice. The cars were roomy Lincolns and the dispatcher always called to see if everything was good. And the drivers were always waiting at the airport pickup area to take me back home. They are are neighborhood, they are local and they are so much better than Uber. read more

I have used breaks to the border on a regular basis and used to give them five stars until today. They have bceome a highly unreliable serivce who can not deliver a driver on time despite making a reservation a day ahead of time and calling to confirm the driver was over 45 minutes late and as of typing this review has yet to show up. i would say do not use this company at all if you need to be somewhere on time read more

Horrible! I called for a taxi cab at 12:05 and they were there to pick me up within 3-5 minutes. As soon as I got into the cab I noticed there was something wrong with the cab itself. Apparently the transmission was not working and we couldn't accelerate over 30mph. The guy dropped me off at a gas station and 3 minutes into being dropped off I called dispatch and they said that they knew of my situation and will send someone right over to pick me up. I told them that I have a 1pm doctor appointment (I live no more than 10 minutes away from the doctors office) and if they're not going to be on time to please let me know. The dispatch said the cab was 1 block away and I thanked him and hung up. Another 7 minutes go by and I called them to find out what was taking so long. I told him that this was inconsiderate and he said "we're not helicopters" told me I should walk the rest of the way and called me an asshole. I will no longer be using your services and I hope no one else does either. You guys are the assholes. read more

The driver looked like he had no idea where he was going even with the gps, stopping in the middle of the road to check his gps making last minute turns and exits, horrible so horrible I canceled my ride with them back home, a 10-15min ride took way longer than I'm used to from here on in I'll do uber instead read more

Every time we call this service they either take at least 30 mins.. or they have no cars available. If they are so busy maybe they should use some of that $ to buy more vehicles and pay more drivers. Gotta spend $ to make $!! read more

Used them last night to get from my brothers place in Yonkers to the closest 1 train in the Bronx. The dispatcher was polite as was the driver, and they sent a car big enough to fit my family of five. The price was comparable to what I paid earlier in the day with a metered taxi. I have been using Break to The Border Car Service for many years. I have come to know both the drivers and the owners on a first name basis. They provide excellent service, clean cars and respectful drivers. I feel very comfortable when I set up a car service for my kids and the owners reassure me that this is an every day event and the kids will be safe and won't have to wait outside for the car rather the driver calls my kids when he/she arrives so they are not put in a dangerous position waiting on the driver. They are also honest, if there are no cars available or the wait time is longer than "right away" , as a courtesy they let you know so you have the option of waiting or calling at a later time. I can't remember the last time a car service did that. I will only use Break to The Border as my car service company. read more

TERRIBLE COMPANY. They quote you one price over the phone and then charge double. I would advise not to use this company but if you do, don't book based on their flyer - be sure all the details are covered and don't give them your credit card number until the trip is complete. In addition to the double charge - the driver never contacted us on my cell when we returned and he was not waiting outside even though we were travelling with an infant and a 4 yr old. The driver left a message on my house phone - I'm waiting at the airport with both cell numbers we supplied to the company. I am going to report this company to the Better Business Bureau and every other Yonkers office overseeing car services. I wish I had read the reviews before I booked. I've used Break to the Border for a while and it's generally, ok. I've even started using them for some of the corporate airport runs. Last week I called an hour before my requested pick-up time. I requested the car for 20 minutes before my train (a 7 minute ride). The driver was nearly 15 minutes late and every time I called, they lied and said he'd be there in 30 seconds. Needless to say I missed my train and was very late for my meeting. They're fine for the late night train/bar pick up, but not if you have anything important or need to be someplace on time. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY...EVER! First of all, their cars are always breaking down. Ride in them and you can feel and hear all kinds of creaking and grinding noises. They have transmission problems. Cars are always stalling....just what you need when you are going to the airport! I have requested a certain car for an airport ride, like a town car, and they say "Sure, no problem"... and show up with a beat up mini-van with serious suspension issues. The dispatchers will chew you a new one if you dare complain or tell them about your poor experiences or ask why you didn't get the car you requested. These people have no manners and have no idea what customer service is. Oh, did I mention...they ALL look like ex-cons that did major time in jail. As a matter of fact, I would bet on it!! The service was punctual and the drivers were friendly. They got us where we needed to be with no issues. The only issue was that we were in two cars and at one point the cars pulled up next to each other and I almost saw my bride before the big reveal even after we let them know we didn't want to see each other yet. I usually don't expect exemplary customer service from cab companies in New York, but this place?! I called for a cab from my house to the subway a few minutes from my house. The cab drove past my house and stopped and asked a bunch of crazy teenagers if they called a cab. Obviously it wasn't theirs, it was the late 20s woman (me) behind him waving her arms yelling "over here". So then I called the number back and explained, the woman did NOT let me speak, she became immediately indignant saying that these guys are working in a Friday night and don't need stupid kids wasting their time. Then when I would try and explain (I don't know why I did that because after she became an utter C U Next Tuesday, I should have hung up and called another service at that point. As someone who works in customer service, if I could have given them 0 stars I would have. If you're in the Yonkers area, look up all star or classic taxi service (they're the same company), they're pretty prompt and the people that pick up are ALWAYS NICE, no matter the time of day. I didn't originally call because they're farther away from me, but next time I'll just wait the extra 5-10 minutes. Oh and break the border, if I go farther than the 4 train and go to another town, they charge RIDICULOUS prices. Usually I get charged about $25-28 from Yonkers to white plains, they charged me $42!!! Phew...rant over. read more

The worst cab company around, rude dispatchers, gross cabs with doors that don't work. Smell of stale smoke. Longer waits that any other cab company around and most of the cabs are being held together by duct tape in places, all round unprofessional service. read more

I had an awful experience with an unprofessional driver. He had to use a GPS to get to JFK Airport from lower Westchester County. Due to his incompetence, it took him a hour and a half at 5 am, with no traffic on the road, to get us there, which is usually a 45 minute drive. And WE MISSED OUR FLIGHT! I spent seven hours in the airport waiting for the next flight. The next day, I called and informed the day manager of my nightmarish experience. He was rude, unprofessional, nasty and took no responsibility for what happened to me. It was the first and last time I will ever use them! read more
