I had the BLTA sandwich with french fries and Dijonaise on the side and my spouse had the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast burrito with home fries. We also each got different sodas from the cooler area. The total for two lunch entrées and two canned sodas was about $40. I feel like this is pretty high relatively speaking for a sandwich and fries, and a breakfast burrito and home fries + two canned sodas, which is why I gave the overall value a four. However, the breakfast burrito, home fries, and regular fries were AMAZING. Probably one of the best breakfast burritos I have had in a really long time, and the home fries were crispy and well seasoned. The sandwich I had was pretty good, but nothing super special, and definitely not worth $16. I didn't particularly care for the Dijonnais, but that's just personal preference and glad I had it on the side. The restaurant itself has ample parking and is easy to find. It has a lot of seating, as well as lounge type seating for the breakfast/café crew and people who might be coming to do a little bit of work. You order at the front and they give you a number and bring the food out to your table. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and kind. The restaurant itself was clean. Overall, I would probably give this somewhere between a four and a five, but I do really love to support Local and I could tell this place probably makes a banging coffee drink and had delicious looking desserts, so I went with a 5. Unfortunately, we live between 35 and 40 minutes away, so we likely won't return, but if we find ourselves in that area of Chapel Hill, I would consider stopping in for another breakfast burrito! read more

Breakaway Cafe has become my favorite breakfast spot solely off their breakfast burritos and quiche. This is probably the best breakfast burrito I've ever gotten anywhere- to be more specific it is the regular breakfast burrito with turkey sausage (they also have 2 other different variations which are probably good as well). They serve it with crispy perfect breakfast potatoes that are even good when you get takeout. Every day they offer a fresh quiche (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) that they sell until it's sold out and we found that the vegetarian one is sold out pretty early every day. When we finally were able to snag a piece, we understood why. It was so delicious and flakey, I wish I could buy the whole pie. The cafe itself is cute with art on the walls and free wifi to work. The service has always been great and everyone is always friendly. The restaurant is always busy all morning and it's a great place to work and chat at. They have a pretty large menu and serve a delicious coffee as well. read more

First time here, this is a cool establishment to come and hang out, meet friends for a bite/drink or just do some work. The vibe is chill and it has a pleasant outdoor section to enjoy some sun too. Menu is decent size but not so daunting where you feel overwhelmed. Ended up getting the Fried Chicken Sandwich with a side of buffalo sauce. The sandwich was awesome, the chicken and breading were fried perfectly. Got a cup of coffee too but it ended up being a tad cold, I shouldn't have asked for a fresh cup but couldn't be bothered. Service was great, the gentleman behind the counter was super friendly and offered some suggestions about what to get. So the food here is typically pretty decent. Nothing fancy. But today we had abysmal service. We came in just before 2 large parties. They lost our order - despite us letting them know they trying to give our order to the wrong party (as that table said it wasn't theirs) - the 2 large parties were served before us. I've passed this place many times when out and about and tried for the first time. The vibe is great and the staff is super nice. You order at the counter and then your food is brought over. I tried the Turkey BLT with avocado. This was delicious. The sandwich was piled high with Turkey and the bacon was crispy. I appreciated how fresh the sandwich was. I also got a side of fries which were good. This is something I usually don't order but felt like it today. For an added treat they have a bin of dog cookies so I assumed they allow dogs. read more

I first heard of Breakaway Cafe regarding a question a member had posted to an area foodies group I belong to on Facebook. The question was "Who has the best eggs benedict in the area?". As an eggs benedict aficionado, I was intrigued when many people responded with "Breakaway Cafe". I headed there on a recent Saturday morning to see how their eggs benedict measured up. They are located in a new strip mall located in Chatham County off of 15-501. When I got there around 10:00 they weren't too busy but they did get busier later. You order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. I ordered the classic eggs benedict with ham and a latte and also a bottled OJ. The latte came out first and it was very good. Not too sweet. The food came out not too much longer and the eggs benedict was quite good. Very classic with the English muffin and they certainly did not skimp on the ham! The eggs were cooked perfectly also. The side was kind of a small crispy fry and I wasn't a very big fan of that. The breakfast needed seasoning. Pretty basic. I didn't see any alternative for another side though. I will look into a side alternative further next time. I would definitely visit Breakaway Cafe again. Come breakaway from work at breakaway cafe. It is a nice, simple cafe away from the noisy scenes and a great place to get away and enjoy a delicious latte and refreshing breakfast. It is the perfect place to unwind, restart, and energize yourself before jumping into your busy day. The menu is simple but satisfying. I highly recommend the lavender latte when it is available. My family came to Breakaway Cafe for Mother's Day brunch and although we were able to find parking, the lot was quite small. We did not make any brunch reservations ahead of time, so we were glad that there were a number of tables open at Breakaway Cafe. The interior is very open and spacious with fun light fixtures hanging from the ceiling and modern decor on the walls. There is also a good amount of indoor seating. The hostess directs you to a table to sit at and you order at the counter. The line to order is quite long, so I stood in line as soon as we were seated to get a head start. The menu is a bit small but there were still a good number of appealing options. Three of us ordered the breakaway breakfast and my brother ordered the classic benedict. The breakaway breakfast gives you the option to choose your protein and it also includes toast, two eggs, potatoes, and bread. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and everything looked delicious. Our meal was nice and fresh and I enjoyed the ambiance of the cafe! The only aspect that threw me off was the ordering at the counter which I feel prolongs the process of ordering, but it was just a unique feature of the cafe!
