Cute little cafe with nice drink selection in a great location. Coffee was tasty. The variety of sandwiches our group got was all fine. Could have been excellent but nothing super memorable. Acai bowl ("protein bowl" on the nenu) was very fresh and tasty. Service was fine. Staff wasn't super busy but wasn't particularly welcoming. Sandwiches came out quickly but protein bowl, which is pretty much just a fruit bowl, for some reason took forever. Everyone had long since finished their sandwiches when it finally came out. No explanation or apology. We weren't looking for much, but staff probably should have said something, especially since we'd asked if it was coming soon. All in all I wouldn't be disappointed to come back, but there are so many great cafes, coffee shops and restaurants in Durham that I'd go to one of the other ones first. read more

Tucked into a corner with plenty of outdoor seating, this spot is convenient and welcoming. Street parking is easy, and there are lots nearby around Brightleaf, making it a quick stop to pick up a sandwich for lunch. It's also a nice place to spend a quiet, sunny weekend morning working or reading outside. Indoor seating is limited, and I can imagine it gets busy during the week when people stop in for a bite. It seems to be good a work space, with the fast wifi and even a printer set up. Service was friendly and fast. Their coffee uses high quality beans, and also offer bags of coffee beans from roasters like Black & White and Couture Culture for purchase. Unfortunately, their matcha (got the seasonal wild strawberry matcha) was very watery and lacked much flavor. Would definitely get coffee drinks in the future! The staff was so friendly and inviting. I ordered a blackberry white chocolate mocha latte and wanted to customize it to be less sweet, and they accommodated that. I also ordered a build your own breakfast sandwich and they made my spinach wrap to order. Cozy seating inside and outside. They serve breakfast and lunch all day and have plenty of coffee options, syrups available, and seasonal specials to offer. Parking is available in the Brightleaf lot across the street. Slowly making a dent on Durham's many wonderful cafes/coffeeshops, and my latest stop was New World Cafe! Located at the bottom of the Chesterfield building next to Brightleaf, I don't really hear New World mentioned a ton. I got a Matcha Latte hot with Blackberry Syrup; the matcha itself was good, but unfortunately, I could barely taste the blackberry and I think I'm partial to iced matcha lattes. I didn't end up getting anything else but I'm curious to try their açaí bowls in the future; they also have various hot breakfast items, sandwiches, and pastries. Ambiance is nice, lots of natural light: there's 4-5 tables as well as some counter seating; it wasn't super busy when we went on a Thursday morning, and most people were picking up their orders. Service was friendly and fast. Free 4-hour parking on W Pettigrew St and free 2-hour parking in Brightleaf lots. 7/10 would recommend! read more

I am probably going to be a regular here because I am obsessed with breakfast sandwiches and these hit the spot. They have multiple bread/bagel/english muffin/croissant options to put it on as well as condiments, meats, cheese, eggs, and vegetables. My go to breakfast toppings are avocado, egg, cheese, turkey sausage, and cream cheese so I'll probably have that in every bread variation they offer. Also, the breakfast sandwich is GOOD and FLAVORFUL. A lot of places put together a sandwich with no flavor, don't melt the cheese, cold, etc. This one was the opposite. I went two days in a row and will be back tomorrow since they're open every day until 3. The staff was friendly, the cafe is small and cute, and the food came out fast. They make a great coffee too. I got a vanilla matcha latte with oat milk and toffee syrup and it was fantastic. They also sell different types of boxes of teas and sell them individually for people to try too. The orange blossom caught my eye. At the register there is an assortment of pastries so I got a blueberry muffin because it looked so moist and pretty and it ended up being the best blueberry muffin I've ever had and my partner agreed. We stumbled upon this place and wanted to try a local coffee shop. It's located next to Dram & Draught on the corner. Inside is modern with a few tables and chairs to sit down. It's clean inside which was good to see. The staff were friendly and got our orders correct. Prices for drinks are about typical, I had the fresh drip coffee. I ordered the medium and it felt like I ordered a large. We would come back in the future! read more

This place was just ok. There were 2 people working on a weekend morning. The cashier was also serving coffee, and it didn't seem like she had enough time to do both. She told us our food would take a few minutes, which was fine. She didn't tell me it would take 10 minutes for the coffee, I finally had to remind her we were waiting. The food was ok. The bagels were just ok. There are a few places to sit inside, but you are definitely close to your neighbors. read more

Came here in the morning to grab breakfast and catch up with a friend. This cafe has nice lighting, big open windows and it was a nice place to have a conversation (not too loud, not completely silent). I got the Vermont açaí bowl, which was packed full to the top of the container. I like that it came with a lid so I could take the extras back. Great flavor, not too sweet and very filling. It was also prepared quickly within minutes and assembled very neatly! Not sure if this will become a regular spot for me, but definitely worth checking out! read more

We had seen this location while driving by several times and finally decided to pop in for coffee on a Saturday. The interior is a little small and pretty basic. They offer items like breakfast, toast and acai bowls but we were only here for coffee this day. The staff was friendly and the coffee/chai drinks were fine. Unfortunately, I just don't see a big draw for us to come back unless we happen to be in the area. There are other coffee places downtown that are a little homier. read more

Amazing! I walked over during my hair appointment at Posh. This place has the best coffee and reasonably priced menu! The baristas are friendly, as well. I had an iced latte with vanilla, and it hit the spot! It was not watery or overly sweet! I think they use counter culture, since they sell the beans. But, I am not entirely sure! If you want an excellent espresso-based drink, come here. The only room for improvement is the ambiance is a bit bare! It could do with more decor! read more

Food: 4/5 Can't speak to the food per say but I got the 16 oz açaí smoothie which I think is a great deal for only 7.50! Delicious fruity and sweet, would order again and add protein next time. It smelled amazing when I walked in here. Ambiance 3/5 The outdoor seating is small but nice, would be great in the fall! The inside has 4 tables, only one of which that can fit more than two. As a regular at the Raleigh location, I can confidently say this Durham location is just as good! We drove out here because the Raleigh location is currently undergoing a move - that's how much we love and prefer coffee from New World, and it was worth the drive. The location is spacious with plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the nice weather too. It's not in the heart of downtown Durham, which I think is a plus. The staff is friendly and knows their coffee! We're creatures of habit and tend not to try new items on a menu, but we tried new beans per the recommendation of the barista, and it was delicious. read more

It's a new business so that's the only reason I gave 3 stars! No one said hello when we walked in. We were told when ordering that they "aren't like Starbucks" and can't add syrups to their traditional drinks. I didn't really appreciate the comment or the fact that once a traditional drink is made... they can't walk over to the syrups and add a few pumps. Both my wife and I didn't enjoy our breakfast sandwiches. Barely any cream cheese on mine and the only flavor was from the everything bagel. My wife didn't even eat hers because she said the chipotle Mayo wasn't good. The lattes we got were basic lattes. I hope they make improvements soon and add more ambiance because there are other really nice restaurants and bars in the area. read more

I thought they were great! Very personable! Even heated my friend's banana bread for him without him even having to ask. My sandwich (the Fight Club) was DELICIOUS! They definitely don't skimp on the portion size and for the price, that says a lot. It's not expensive and you will definitely get more than your money's worth. Highly recommend! read more

I was a long time customer and brief sandwich maker :O) at the Raleigh location. Mike and Helena are very personable and knowledgeable and they'll do a great job in Durham--they'll fill a void especially with Ninth St Coffee closing as a go-to for students. The made to order bacon, egg, and cheese w/avocado with chipotle mayo is a favorite of mine. The Fight Club sandwich and Keto Bowl are outstanding, and their lattes and mochas are top notch. read more
