OG breakfast sandwich. It was terrible.
    Angie N.

Ok, this place has rave reviews and I guess it depends what you're looking to get out of breakfast. If you're looking for something cute with nice presentation, this is your jam. If you're looking to eat a good breakfast and get on the road, this is not it. I didn't expect to eat top notch food on this vacation but this food truck was the biggest disappointment out of the whole trip. I had to wait to write this review because I was so upset. My husband and I were there the morning of 7/19 and waited over an hour to get our order of 2 OG Breakfast sándwiches. It's a food truck, I get it. But please have the decency to estimate how long it will take to get orders out so people can decide whether or not to place an order. Then there is the quality of the sandwich. My sandwich was served on the "butt" end slice of the loaf which was then sliced in half rather than have to slices of bread like my husband's did. The sandwich completely fell apart when I went to eat it. It was a sloppy mess. And the bacon was the super thin slices like the kind you get served at those hotel breakfast buffets. I rarely leave negative reviews but I just felt I had to share my experience so others don't go through the same thing. If you've got no plans and can wait around that long for a breakfast sandwich , then go ahead and support this small food truck operated by two very nice ladies. But if you've just gotta eat to fuel up, go somewhere else or get on the road and eat something along the way. Even a breakfast sandwich from subway would've been better.

My husband and I LOVE this place, whenever we see a sunny sky, we take a drive to Talkeetna to get a look at Denali and grab a little breakfast. My favorite is the Mec, the meatballs are great with the eggs. The only criticism is that there is a lot of eggs in it, I think it could use less eggs. Or, it could feed 2 easily.

Great place to stop for breakfast if you're staying outside Talkeetna. Breakfast sandwiches were great and the coffee was excellent too! It's small so the orders take a bit of time to come out, but worth the wait! My husband and I devoured both of our sandwiches

Gypsy toast. Yummy peanut butter in between!

Adorable food bus. Great, yummy food! Had the gypsy toast, burrito and candy cakes. Loved them all. The gypsy toast is my fav!!! I will forever put peanut butter on my French toast from now on!! Highly recommend. Seems to be a small family owner. I'll be back for more

Look how stinkin cute this truck is!!

What an adorable, cute and instagramable breakfast truck! Breakfast is my favorite meal no matter where I am traveling or staying! One of our favorite things to do when we travel is to get suggestions from the locals and this was recommended to us by multiple people! Lots of really great options for breakfast and the cook was super considerate when I asked for no cheese on my breakfast sammy. We arrived a couple of minutes before they had opened so we hung out at the picnic tables and enjoyed the Alaskan summer morning. Once we got our food it was hard to not dig right in, come on look at that jam on my sandwich!

10/10 Perfect spot for breakfast for anyone! Lots of delicious options including gluten free possibilities. Super cute and a good breakfast place for anyone on the Alaska train, RV camp and locals. Could not recommend more + they have iced matcha :))

FANTASTIC coffee! Stopped by mid afternoon before closing and picked up two hot mochas (mint and white chocolate). They were great!

Only thing we had was the coffee and ice cream. Homemade ice cream was amazing. Service was quick and friendly.

What a delightful find in Alaska!…read more The chocolate brownie was fabulous. The subtle addition of black beans gave it an incredibly rich, moist texture and somehow enhanced the deep chocolate flavor even further. The jalapeño chorizo quiche was simply to die for--a must-have. I've traveled extensively around the world, and this is genuinely one of the finest quiches I've ever had. Perfectly balanced, packed with flavor, and beautifully baked. The latte with caramel birch syrup was the perfect companion for the Alaskan weather. It leaves you with a wonderfully warm, comforting feeling that lingers long after the last sip. Don't miss the frosted coffee cake with lemon and berries. It's moist, fresh, and makes the perfect treat to pack along for a hike through the Alaskan woods. The bakery itself is incredibly quaint and charming, with beautiful flowers everywhere. It feels like stepping into a warm wooden cabin nestled in nature. The atmosphere is just as memorable as the food. I would absolutely love to visit Flying Squirrel Bakery again. It's one of those special places that makes a trip unforgettable.

Best dinner we've had in Alaska so far. Most places in Talkeetna seem to be bar/pub type…read morerestaurants. Kahiltna Bistro does have a bar, but lends itself more to a local, quieter restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we felt a friendly vibe. Our beautiful waitress, Rae-Janell, was helpful, attentive and her lovely smile made our delicious dinner even more enjoyable. While there, we watched locals stop in for a drink or to get their "oyster fix". They have a menu that is available all day and a dinner menu that begins at 5:00. Patrons talk to one another & we chatted with a gentleman who was from our home state of West Virginia (even though he was a Pitt fan). I splurged on the King Crab and it was worth every penny. My husband had the filet steak and said it was juicy and tender. If we are ever back in Talkeetna, we would definitely have a meal here again.

But as we waited for a bus back to our lodge, we had time for ciders (rhubarb and apple). Both were great. Even better: the ambience. This place is tiny, filled with locals and tourists, and just somewhere you could spend an Alaskan summer. The mostly seafood entrees smelled great. The staff were professional and friendly. We hope to return for a meal, the cider and the ambiance.
