Excellent food, good prices, nice portions. Good service. Small shop but not cramped. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

I want to start this off by saying we will not be returning to Breakfast house cafe. We walked in and it was cute and small but every table was disgusting so choosing a spot to sit was like trying to find a table that wasn't completely disgusting as trying to get anybody to clean them was impossible. We sat down and waited for quite a while for our server to come over who seemed completely overwhelmed. It was a busy time so that was understandable. But when our food finally came it was cold and soggy. My hash browns just had a weird flavor and were room temperature in the middle the other parts were cold. My waffles were soggy on the bottom and cold. The only warm thing was my sausage links which were good. I also think that it is well priced if only the food was warm it would've been a lot better! It did have a clean restroom and you couldn't complain about the coffee. Overall I'm sure there are better places to eat and was disappointed by the temperature of our food. read more

I had biscuits and chicken and the wife had eggs and American fries. Average at best. Biscuit seemed store bought and my wife's eggs tasted like bacon. Not saying that's a bad thing but no what she wanted. Riley's is a way better place to go when your in the area. Service was good. read more

Amazing place for typical breakfast foods and then some items you don't find everywhere. I strongly recommend the eggs Benedict with Turkey and avocado, similar to what IHOP offers but much tastier and bigger portions. The gravy with biscuits and gravy wasn't the best we've ever had, but every other aspect of this tiny place was great. read more

We found the Breakfast House Cafe via Yelp. I travel to Cedar Rapids quarterly with my family, and like to avoid the chain restaurants. Every visit I have a different meal and every meal have been wonderful. If you want a great breakfast come to Breakfast House Cafe! read more

Excellent neighborhood cafe with great breakfast menu. Had the Florentine omelet - outstanding!

It was the absolute worst experience I have ever had. It took an hour for us to get our food and it wasn't that busy. Plus our order was breakfast food not really complicated should have only waited 30 minutes at most! To top it off my food was luke warm and really small portions for almost 10 dollars. Then they got my friend's order wrong that took them an hour to make! How does that even happen!? Not to mention the bad service! My fiancée tried multiple time to talk to our waitress and she just walked off. She also walked around the place doing other things while having our debit card on her. I am so angry and will not be returning or referring anyone. So bad! Cannot not say this enough. read more

The Breakfast House is my favorite place for breakfast in the area. My favorite is George's Omelet, George's Way, which means he puts the hash browns inside the omelet. Sooooo good! Great coffee, too. Holly, our waitress, makes sure your cup never goes empty. Holly is the friendliest waitress I've ever had, service with a smile and funny, too. First time eating here. It was home style cooking. The portions were more then enough. The staff was excellent. My son notice the waitress took all our orders without writing anything down. It took about 20 minutes for us to get our food but what do you except for a home cooked meal. Next time we are passing through we will be stopping again. read more

This paying customer is not happy with the right of watching the local news from 5 to 8 in the morning, we want to watch the local Cedar Rapids news and it's not available because the owner locks the remotes in the safe and we are forced to watch CNN....Breakfast house you are losing customers. You need to get it corrected before this paying customer finds another local Breakfast restaurant that has local TV viewing options. read more

I truly love finding an honest, no frills, great food breakfast place. This covers all of the marks. The portions are big, the price is very reasonable and the food is great. I loved the chicken fried steak, my wife's benedict Florentine looked amazing. My only regret was not being able to sample everything on the menu that looked so amazing. read more

I have tried this restaurant twice, and both times left extremely disappointed. The last time I went which was a few weeks ago, I ordered a normal breakfast, over easy eggs, sausage patty, and hash browns. The hash browns came out in a solid mass rectangular sized, obviously frozen from a box, very disgusting and bland tasting. The sausage patty was totally burnt and looked like something you would scrape off of your shoe. I sent that back immediately. How does a chef (if you can call them that) send out crap like that? They microwave a lot, as I had a clear view from my table. That in and of itself is inexcusable. Don't even get me started on the service as that was terrible also. Had one waitress take my order, another bring it, and then another give me my bill. Since I didn't know who was getting the tip and I didn't want the first one getting any, they all got nothing. I have NO IDEA why people love this janky place! I will most definitely NOT be going back! read more
