Stopped in for breakfast and grabbed seats at the bar to watch them make food. The cooks were great as they showed us what they were making and interacting with us for a while. The server seemed ready to go home and not as energetic to be there. She didn't bring our drinks and then forgot to mention the coffee was self serve. The food was as expected for a traditional diner and the portions were fair. The price point was extremely fair for this area of the valley. Parking was easy and seats were easy to get. Our fav diner in El Jabel! We always eat here when we visit the area. It's classic, open kitchen diner food and it's absolutely fantastic. They cook everything fresh and to order. The cooks are experts, man. They are master short order cooks. It is a bit of a dive, but you can't beat the consistency and the price. I'd pass on the biscuits and gravy, omletes, etc. I'd stick with the classic, two eggs, bacon, hashbrowns kinda thing. Never been disappointed. Oh, coffee and water is self serve. Drive 24 minutes to eat at this restaurant because of its good location. but we had a bad time when we arrived The girl who sat us down gave us a very bad attitude and she didn't think that we spoke Spanish and she spoke very rudely to another employee in Spanish and told us, "Well, mother, she has a very ugly Mexican attitude. When we spoke to her in Spanish, she just gave up because she didn't think that I spoke Spanish too. Very bad treatment for some clients. While skiing/visiting Aspen, I couldn't find breakfast place that was suitable for a good price so I drove here and had the huevos rancheros. They were excellent. I actually added an extra egg for $1.50 because I was going to be skiing all day and this would be my only meal until dinner and it delivered! It was so good. I ordered an extra order to go of chorizo and eggs to have for breakfast the following day in my Airbnb, again, before skiing. It, too, was excellent reheated in the microwave. Forget the nonsense, this is a good place for breakfast. If you are a fan of slightly divey no-frills diners, this is the place for you. Those are my favorite places so I was quite happy. Breakfast is simple and the coffee is self serve and plentiful. I recommend sitting at the bar for the full diner effect. I had a western omelet and hashbrowns. They didn't blow me away but I did see the corn beef hash and it looked amazing. The omelet was the better part of the meal and the fact that they had El Yucateca hot sauce made it even better. I had coffe & the Huevos Rancheros, Christmas style with red & green chili sauce. It was delicious- with melted cheddar cheese, chopped scallions, pulled pork & beans & corn tortilla & crispy, shredded hash browns. I ordered my eggs over easy & loved this dish. Came here after visiting Aspen for a few days. Local with some decent ratings so we went with 2 kids and a baby. Kind of loud inside, you get your own coffee and drinks mostly. Anything basic like biscuits and gravy, pancakes or French toast was decent but the huevos ranchers and the Denver omelet weren't very good. What a great find in this little town. It's a small place (maybe 500 SF) with seating around the kitchen - so U shaped bar - with seating for 20 or so. Huge portions and the best Hash Browns I've had in a very long time. Lots of choices for hot sauces and home made chipotle sauce. I had the Denver Omlette and it was awesome - so huge I couldn't finish it and my friends had the huervos rancheros breakfast which they were raving about. The options were intriguing. Many vegetarian options... Mexican breakfast options too. But... cross contamination is pretty gross here. They used the same spatula and tongs for many dishes. Pans were not cleaned between dishes. They handed a can of whip cream to a kid to use for her hot chocolate- no gloves or washing of hands. And then proceed to put it back in the cooler for resturant use. I ended up in the bathroom more than 6 times the next few hours. And I only ate/drank at this place prior to that.
